Book excerpt: I would hope this book would find its way into the halls of Better Covenant Theology teaching. Better Covenant Theology (BCT) is a term and a hermeneutic for understanding the Bible, from a covenant/Kingdom perspective, which incorporates into its system historical context. Historical context causes one to know the difference in what was spoken to the original audience and what is meant for us to understand and gain wisdom from. You and I were not the target or original audience for anything that was written by any of the writers of the old or New Testaments. Each author, who ultimately is the Holy Spirit, had as their target a specific group of people living in a specific time in history. There is certainly application that we gain from the Scriptures, but it is important to understand that we, ourselves, were not the target audience to the things written in the Bible. We have the advantage of living at least 2000 years after it was written, with historical records to connect many things in the Scriptures. Without the advantage of knowing history, the Bible can be a strange book indeed. This is why historical context is key to understanding the Bible. The information in this book should be used for sermons, teachings, classes and any other use that Christians may grow in Christ and understand the Bible in ways they have never understood before. I do not mind if you teach and expand on this material once you understand it. This is a piece of the New Covenant unfolding to us. Another key to understanding the Bible is to understand covenant. Covenant has many facets, from the cutting of the covenant, the blood sacrifice used, the benefits, rules or stipulations associated with the covenant, and the goals of each party involved in the covenant. God is a God of covenant, and He seeks to operate with humanity through covenant. In fact, it can be said of the Bible, that is the written record of the covenant journey of God with mankind.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Covenant of the Torch made with Abraham is the most significant among all the covenants in the Bible. Why? It's the most detailed yet condensed summary of God's divine administration for redemption that outlines the work of restoration of His godly people and holy land. In this book, Rev. Abraham Park brings to life the Covenant of the Torch, and helps us to understand—accurately, and in chronological detail—692 years of redemptive history starting from Abraham, including the great exodus, the wilderness journey and the conquest of Canaan. Just as his best-seller The Genesis Genealogies has helped readers to better understand the time frames and relationships in the Book of Genesis, Rev. Park now helps us to carefully study the books of Exodus up to Joshua, and to realize what those events and participants tell us regarding God's larger plan. This book offers: A detailed chronology of 692 years from Abraham to the Israelites' conquest of Canaan. The first ever map of all 42 camp sites in the wilderness. Color photos of the locations in the wilderness journey. A theologically sound method of viewing God's Word through the perspective of God's administration in the history of redemption. Wisdom and insight on how to overcome the spiritual "wilderness" in our lives of faith today. Despite periods of spiritual darkness, unbelief, complaining and grumbling by the people of God as they wandered in the desert, we see God's faithfulness in fulfilling His Word and the Covenant of the Torch. And by understanding the chronological flow of the biblical events in a systematic manner, we gain a much broader and deeper grasp of God's plan of salvation. This title is part of the History of Redemption series which includes: Book 1: The Genesis Genealogies Book 2: The Covenant of the Tourch Book 3: The Unquenchable Lamp of the Covenant Book 4: God's Profound and Mysterious Providence Book 5: The Promise of the Eternal Covenant

Book From Relationship to Covenant

Download or read book From Relationship to Covenant written by David Hager and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-10 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Where are all of the promises of God in the Church today? Where is His presence? Who is experiencing the deeper things of the Spirit? We long for more. We cry out. We pray for revival. Why do the heavens seem locked? Has God failed on his promises? Or have we missed something? Of course the answer is not that God does not care. God longs to pour out his promises and presence just as much as we long to receive them. The problem is that the promises of God are covenant promises. They can only fall on covenant believers. Yet in recent years the Church has lost the meaning and practice of covenant. We live in an individualistic, logic-centered, event-focused culture that runs contrary to the relational minded culture of the Bible and turns the covenant of God into a contract of man. Covenant is not an event, it is a journey. It is not something we do as much as it is someone we become. Because we have lost understanding of covenant, we have lost the path that leads to covenant. This has led to a loss of covenant presence and promise. The good news is that God's process of moving his people from initial relationship to maturity of covenant is revealed in the biblical covenants of Abraham, Israel, and the disciples. Once the people of God understand this process, and follow it, they will unlock the promises of God in their lives.

Book In The Covenant of the Ark

He is a God who listens, a God who speaks, and a God who heals. Could God be preparing us for the prophetic time that the prophet Joel spoke about when God will pour out his spirit on all humanity? "Your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old people shall dream dreams, and your young people will see visions" (Joel 3:1-3). This author experienced the voice of the Lord calling in the night. She heard his voice and was gifted with all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit: faith, wisdom, knowledge, prophecy, discernment, healing, tongues, interpretation of tongues, and miracles. As you are led through her life, you will see how the prophetic came to fulfillment through her lived experiences. The miracles she gives witness to will speak to a God who is alive and dwells among us. He is the Lord who will speak to our times and our culture. Traditions and religions have distorted His teachings and message and led many astray from the true path to salvation found in the Scriptural Covenant. This is a must read for every Christian or person interested in converting to Christianity. Salvation is the reason why many people look to Christianity but it is important to understand how salvation was presented through the Scriptures and the Messiah. It is much more than a simple prayer or an internal decision. While no man can earn salvation, there is required action that demonstrates our belief. This book explains the salvation process described in the Scriptures and clearly answers the age old question: What must I do to be saved?

Book The Ark of the Covenant in Its Egyptian Context

Download or read book The Ark of the Covenant in Its Egyptian Context written by David Falk and published by Hendrickson Publishers. This book was released on 2020 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Although much has been written about the Ark of the Covenant, few authors engage the wealth of information available that pertains to Egyptian material culture. [This] is the first book to explore the complex history of sacred ritual furniture in Egypt that predated the ark by hundreds of years. Within Egyptian culture, over four hundred examples of ritual furniture exist that shed light on the design and appearance of the ark. These examples form patterns that provide context for the Israelites' understanding of the ark at the time of its construction. That understanding would have been obvious to the Israelites of the time, but has since become obscured over the millennia. This groundbreaking book is the first to connect the Ark of the Covenant with the archaeology and chronology of ancient Egypt"--

Book Hiding in the Light

Download or read book Hiding in the Light written by Rifqa Bary and published by WaterBrook. This book was released on 2015-05-19 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leaving Islam for Christianity cost her more than she imagined, but gave more than she could have dreamed. Rifqa Bary grew up in a devout Muslim home, obediently following her parents’ orders to practice the rituals of Islam. But God was calling her to freedom and love. He was calling her to true faith. He was calling her to give up everything. Hiding in the Light is the story of Rifqa’s remarkable spiritual journey from Islam to Christianity. It is also the untold story of how she ran from her father’s threats to find refuge with strangers in Florida, only to face a controversial court case that reached national headlines. Most of all, it is the story of a young girl who made life-changing sacrifices to follow Jesus—and who inspires us to do the same.
