Book The Drug the Soul and God

Download or read book The Drug the Soul and God written by John-Mark L. Miravalle and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With The Drug, the Soul, and God, John-Mark Miravelle examines the stance of the Catholic Church regarding the prescription and consumption of antidepressants. After a careful investigation of Catholic moral theology and philosophy, Miravelle argues that treating depression with medication alone fails to address the underlying causes of the depression and does not facilitate the cognitive, interpersonal, and environmental changes necessary for a patient's long-term health. In addition, he suggests that such medication may deprive sufferers of providential opportunities for personal and communal conversion and sanctification. This controversial volume will engage theologians and medical professionals alike.

Book DMT The Spirit Molecule

Download or read book DMT The Spirit Molecule written by Rick Strassman and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2000-12-01 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A clinical psychiatrist explores the effects of DMT, one of the most powerful psychedelics known. • A behind-the-scenes look at the cutting edge of psychedelic research. • Provides a unique scientific explanation for the phenomenon of alien abduction experiences. From 1990 to 1995 Dr. Rick Strassman conducted U.S. Government-approved and funded clinical research at the University of New Mexico in which he injected sixty volunteers with DMT, one of the most powerful psychedelics known. His detailed account of those sessions is an extraordinarily riveting inquiry into the nature of the human mind and the therapeutic potential of psychedelics. DMT, a plant-derived chemical found in the psychedelic Amazon brew, ayahuasca, is also manufactured by the human brain. In Strassman's volunteers, it consistently produced near-death and mystical experiences. Many reported convincing encounters with intelligent nonhuman presences, aliens, angels, and spirits. Nearly all felt that the sessions were among the most profound experiences of their lives. Strassman's research connects DMT with the pineal gland, considered by Hindus to be the site of the seventh chakra and by Rene Descartes to be the seat of the soul. DMT: The Spirit Molecule makes the bold case that DMT, naturally released by the pineal gland, facilitates the soul's movement in and out of the body and is an integral part of the birth and death experiences, as well as the highest states of meditation and even sexual transcendence. Strassman also believes that "alien abduction experiences" are brought on by accidental releases of DMT. If used wisely, DMT could trigger a period of remarkable progress in the scientific exploration of the most mystical regions of the human mind and soul.

Book The Only Real Cure for Drug Addiction is God

Download or read book The Only Real Cure for Drug Addiction is God written by Larry Singleton and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2019-12-19 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Larry grew up in a small southern town called Minden, shielded from all life's negative influences by his mother and siblings. Growing up in a very Christian home, knowing God, he always longed for the big-city life. But was he ready for it? Was he ready to take on the challenges that came with big-city life? Marrying his high school sweetheart right after school, he dreamed of the glorious life they could have if only he could find a way for them to leave Minden behind. He wanted more out of life, for he knew that one day, with God's blessings, he would become a great man, husband, and father. When he was introduced to an idea about joining the Air Force, he quickly decided that was their ticket out of Minden and a chance to be that great man that he always dreamed of. Shortly after joining the Air Force, he began meeting men from all over. Although he wasn't street-smart and knew very little about what went on outside his little hometown, he was intrigued by their behavior and knowledge of worldly life. He sought to emulate them from their dress, talk, and often bad habits. He slowly began conforming to this world while setting aside all he was taught in church and his upbringing. Unknown to him, the devil began slowly gaining control of his thoughts, thus starting a spiritual warfare in his mind that would last for almost two decades. This spiritual warfare took him and his family through unimaginable times where no man wants to go. Big-city life was exciting, but without God, it came with a price.

Book God Sex Drugs Other Things

Download or read book God Sex Drugs Other Things written by Howard Frankl and published by NewSouth Books. This book was released on 2016-05-18 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Howard Frankl's God, Sex, Drugs and Other Things begins with three essays on subjects found in the title: one essay on drugs, one on sex and one on God. The "Other Things" turn out to be Money and Murder, and there is an essay on each of these topics. The book comes to a close with a short epilogue on the reality that holds the whole work together, call it compassion, call it universal salvation, or just call it Love. Writer Ernesto Cardenal calls this "a bold book ... In it are things writers don’t dare say. Only God. And he has said them in the Bible. But since we read the Bible so often, those things don’t shock us. They shock us when someone says the same things in a new way. This is an orthodox book, but to some it will not seem so, because it presents the dogmas with a freshness and originality we’re not used to."

The story of one man's search for belonging, this an incredible and moving testament to the life-changing power of God.

Book God Wants Me Here for Now

Download or read book God Wants Me Here for Now written by Kaydee Ledger and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-07-31 with total page 744 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: GOD WANTS ME HERE -- FOR NOW -- God’s Protection through Psychiatric Medication Adverse Reactions is an account of the psychiatric medication mismanagement I have endured and that difficult journey. Though a college educated, confident and involved, married mother of three, I learned the hard way to give grave respect to psychiatric medications. My travails have taught me to do my own research when accepting prescribed medications and not to trust the advice of doctors regarding the safety of the choice, the quantity prescribed, or the method to stop. I was totally unprepared for the level of suffering from antidepressant mismanagement (which was especially complicated by Gabapentin), the disbelief of doctors, or the judgment by family and friends. I had no idea that doctor training was so inadequate regarding those drugs or of the thousands of people, like me, who report their symptoms and are daily diagnosed as somatically preoccupied or with a conversion disorder. The pain caused by inappropriately prescribed drugs affected my jobs, my children, my finances, my public perception, and my involvement in life. (I have lost precious years of life because of psychiatric drugs.) My experience has awakened me to a desperate need in the medical community. I now advocate for informed consent of consumers, better training for doctors, insurance coverage for tapering, smaller manufactured drug quantities, penalties for doctors who cold turkey or fast taper a dangerous drug, and less flippant prescribing of those drugs.

Download or read book The Immortality Key written by Brian C. Muraresku and published by St. Martin's Press. This book was released on 2020-09-29 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER As seen on The Joe Rogan Experience! A groundbreaking dive into the role psychedelics have played in the origins of Western civilization, and the real-life quest for the Holy Grail that could shake the Church to its foundations. The most influential religious historian of the 20th century, Huston Smith, once referred to it as the "best-kept secret" in history. Did the Ancient Greeks use drugs to find God? And did the earliest Christians inherit the same, secret tradition? A profound knowledge of visionary plants, herbs and fungi passed from one generation to the next, ever since the Stone Age? There is zero archaeological evidence for the original Eucharist – the sacred wine said to guarantee life after death for those who drink the blood of Jesus. The Holy Grail and its miraculous contents have never been found. In the absence of any hard data, whatever happened at the Last Supper remains an article of faith for today’s 2.5 billion Christians. In an unprecedented search for answers, The Immortality Key examines the archaic roots of the ritual that is performed every Sunday for nearly one third of the planet. Religion and science converge to paint a radical picture of Christianity’s founding event. And after centuries of debate, to solve history’s greatest puzzle. Before the birth of Jesus, the Ancient Greeks found salvation in their own sacraments. Sacred beverages were routinely consumed as part of the so-called Ancient Mysteries – elaborate rites that led initiates to the brink of death. The best and brightest from Athens and Rome flocked to the spiritual capital of Eleusis, where a holy beer unleashed heavenly visions for two thousand years. Others drank the holy wine of Dionysus to become one with the god. In the 1970s, renegade scholars claimed this beer and wine – the original sacraments of Western civilization – were spiked with mind-altering drugs. In recent years, vindication for the disgraced theory has been quietly mounting in the laboratory. The constantly advancing fields of archaeobotany and archaeochemistry have hinted at the enduring use of hallucinogenic drinks in antiquity. And with a single dose of psilocybin, the psychopharmacologists at Johns Hopkins and NYU are now turning self-proclaimed atheists into instant believers. But the smoking gun remains elusive. If these sacraments survived for thousands of years in our remote prehistory, from the Stone Age to the Ancient Greeks, did they also survive into the age of Jesus? Was the Eucharist of the earliest Christians, in fact, a psychedelic Eucharist? With an unquenchable thirst for evidence, Muraresku takes the reader on his twelve-year global hunt for proof. He tours the ruins of Greece with its government archaeologists. He gains access to the hidden collections of the Louvre to show the continuity from pagan to Christian wine. He unravels the Ancient Greek of the New Testament with the world’s most controversial priest. He spelunks into the catacombs under the streets of Rome to decipher the lost symbols of Christianity’s oldest monuments. He breaches the secret archives of the Vatican to unearth manuscripts never before translated into English. And with leads from the archaeological chemists at UPenn and MIT, he unveils the first scientific data for the ritual use of psychedelic drugs in classical antiquity. The Immortality Key reconstructs the suppressed history of women consecrating a forbidden, drugged Eucharist that was later banned by the Church Fathers. Women who were then targeted as witches during the Inquisition, when Europe’s sacred pharmacology largely disappeared. If the scientists of today have resurrected this technology, then Christianity is in crisis. Unless it returns to its roots. Featuring a Foreword by Graham Hancock, the NYT bestselling author of America Before.
