Book GISForman GIS based Strategic Planning Forest Growth and Management Intervention Simulator

Download or read book GISForman GIS based Strategic Planning Forest Growth and Management Intervention Simulator written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 51 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: GISForman+ (Geographic Information System linked FORest MANagement plus) is a hybrid forest simulator, drawing from both spatial and aspatial forest modelling experience. Its spatial nature originates from GISFORMAN and uses the ArcInfo GIS, while much of its management control functionality is modelled from FORMAN+1, both simulators based on the FORMAN software. GISForman+ allows forest planners to forecast forest response to spatial management strategies. It applies rule-based harvest and silviculture intervention strategies to a forest model of stand conditions and locations, growth patterns, and intervention (treatment) alternatives. Using a spatial forest model, GISForman+ can model harvest size opening limits and the resulting harvesting restrictions. This user manual describes the concepts behind GISForman+, explores the software's forest model as well as its management strategy and simulator functionality, describes the items held in the various files required by GISForman+ in a functional way (more technical descriptions of file formats are in the appendix), reviews the simulation reporting outputs, and outlines the simulation creation tutorial.

Book The Molecular Biology of Fertilization

Download or read book The Molecular Biology of Fertilization written by Heide Schatten and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Molecular Biology of Fertilization focuses on the different aspects of fertilization in several models, including insects, clams, sea urchins, ascidians, cows, pigs, sheep, rats, hamsters, and humans. This book examines the experimental approaches using methods of molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics, immunology, and enzymology. Comprised of three parts encompassing 15 chapters, this book starts by discussing the ability of egg factors to affect sperm motility and initiate the acrosome reaction by modifying ion movements across the sperm plasma membrane. This text then provides an overview of the different aspects of egg architecture, ranging from extracellular remodeling to nuclei organization, which is involved in embryogenesis and fertilization. Finally, the last part deals with oncogenes, gene expression, and nuclear determination during embryogenesis and at fertilization. This book will be a great value to molecular biologists, cell biologists, reproductive biologists, developmental biologists, biophysicists, biochemists, geneticists, researchers, scientists, and students.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Agricultural English is a collection of essays on the English of Agriculture. The approach is a linguistic one: the different aspects of the English used in the field of agriculture (agricultural practices, agricultural systems) and in some fields related to agriculture (agricultural zoology, agri-tourism, biology, botany, ecology, entomology, gastronomy, land measurement, plant pathology, zoology) are analysed from a morphological (combination, derivation), syntactical (nominal phrases, verbal phrases), lexical and lexicographical, semantic (homonymy, semantic fields, synonymy, terminology), pragmatic (academic discourse, idiom, metaphor), etymological (etymon, Latin heritage), and contrastive (English–Croatian, English–French, English–German, English–Romanian, Romanian–English) points of view. The book will appeal to agriculturists, animal breeders, professors, researchers, students, and translators from Croatian-, English-, French-, German-, and Romanian-speaking countries, active in their own countries or abroad. The types of academic readership it would appeal to include academic teaching staff, researchers and students in the fields of agriculture and related fields – agricultural zoology, agri-tourism, biology, botany, ecology, entomology, gastronomy, land measurement, plant pathology, and zoology.
