Book Gianni Motti Ediz Inglese

Download or read book Gianni Motti Ediz Inglese written by Gianni Motti and published by Damiani. This book was released on 2013 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The work of Gianni Motti escapes from the traditional formats of diffusion of art. By derisory gestures the Italian artist constructs a work which turns the strategies of power against themselves. With remarkable savings of means, he investigates the places, twists the exposition and transforms it into a dialectical machine, an advanced set of his critical undertaking. Gianni Motti¿s pieces are in all points out of norms, as well as in their form or in their content. They appear indeed as a suite of punctual interventions, infiltrating the reality or making a parasite of the daily media. Like in 2000, during a week, Gianni Motti appeared in different pages of the journal ¿Neue Luzerner Zeitung¿, until the moment when the angry readers called the journal to denounce this parasitic stranger. In 1997, in Colombia, he organized a national manifestation of telepathy to spur the President Samper to resign from his position. Or when he stages his own funeral in 1989. After announcing his death in the obituary section of the local journal, Gianni Motti circulates in an opened coffin in the streets of Vigo, carried by the crowd that participates in the funeral ceremony. Sport, finance, the media, international politics, parapsychology - Gianni Motti¿s actions cover all the spectrum of the contemporary society.

Book Translating Children s Literature

Download or read book Translating Children s Literature written by Gillian Lathey and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-07-24 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Translating Children’s Literature is an exploration of the many developmental and linguistic issues related to writing and translating for children, an audience that spans a period of enormous intellectual progress and affective change from birth to adolescence. Lathey looks at a broad range of children’s literature, from prose fiction to poetry and picture books. Each of the seven chapters addresses a different aspect of translation for children, covering: · Narrative style and the challenges of translating the child’s voice; · The translation of cultural markers for young readers; · Translation of the modern picture book; · Dialogue, dialect and street language in modern children’s literature; · Read-aloud qualities, wordplay, onomatopoeia and the translation of children’s poetry; · Retranslation, retelling and reworking; · The role of translation for children within the global publishing and translation industries. This is the first practical guide to address all aspects of translating children’s literature, featuring extracts from commentaries and interviews with published translators of children’s literature, as well as examples and case studies across a range of languages and texts. Each chapter includes a set of questions and exercises for students. Translating Children’s Literature is essential reading for professional translators, researchers and students on courses in translation studies or children’s literature.

Book Lorenzo De Medici

Download or read book Lorenzo De Medici written by Lorenzo de' Medici and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 1991 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book-length collection in English of the literary works of Lorenzo de&’Medici, the major poetic voice of the Florentine Resistance. Lorenzo de&’Medici (1449-92) was the ruler of Florence and the principal statesman of his time. A contemporary of Columbus, Lorenzo is hardly known in the English-speaking world as a major Quattrocento writer, author of a large and varied body of poetry as well as an important literary treatise. His poetry and patronage were instrumental in renewing the vernacular literature of his age after a period of stagnation. That Lorenzo&’s literary writings were for the most part never translated is a fascinating curiosity of history, attributable to the irreverent, bawdy subject matter of many of his poems, objections to his authoritarian politics, and the unconventional features of his poetic realism. Yet Lorenzo is now seen as the most interesting exponent of the cultural renaissance that he encouraged. His longer poems in particular reveal the central concerns, everyday activities, and favorite ideas of his day. No other Florentine writer succeeds in capturing as he does the beauty, seasonal changes, and rhythms of life of the Tuscan countryside. His poetic realism is that which sets him apart from his age, yet makes him such a vivid portrayer of it. The availability of his works in English will serve to modify and enlarge our conception of the Florentine Renaissance.
