Book excerpt: “Getting it Right@60” - A Common Man’s Perspective There are a lot of books available on life after retirement but I wanted to write one from the perspective of a common man. This is a book for every Common Man who is already retired or retiring. Common Man is conceived as one from the middle class, a person who has spent all this time in doing his job diligently and honestly but in this process could not pursue his hobbies. He could as well not nurture well his family and personal relationships, despite a strong inclination and all resources at his disposal. While definition of Hobby is so wide, encompassing anything and everything, it is at the same time, difficult to identify one’s hobby at-least amongst middle class Indians, for giving it its due after he is retiring. At this stage of life, most of them are unaware about the areas which give them passion and enchantment. This book will help readers from middle class society, address this dilemma. An attempt has also been made to address issues of various fears in the mind of retiring persons as regards their health, finances, uncaring children, unsettled children, sexlessness, loneliness etc. Once retired, with all the time in the world, and limited responsibilities, sometimes, we find ourselves lost in search of purpose. This book will address this aspect of dilemma also. It is endeavoured that each page of this book connects well with senior citizens and interests them. I would not claim that my readers will find some startling revelations about happy retired life from this short book, but I am confident that once a reader reads this, he will be better equipped to lead a more fulfilling retired life. I hope my honest attempt will provide readers with inspiration and zeal to re-prioritise their journey of life, and take retirement as a chosen milestone to start attending to one’s non lucrative but highly satisfying pursuits.

Download or read book Getting it Right in Reception written by Neil Farmer and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2016-07-14 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reception, it's a funny old term, rather like a waiting room, a foyer, or a gathering place before the main event. The main event here being the start of Key Stage One and school life. Reception has in many ways been seen as a 'holding pen', a preparation for 'school readiness' rather than a stage and age in its own right. Neil Farmer draws upon his experience of working with and supporting schools and leaders up and down the country and abroad – in many instances going right back to the basics – and putting forward suggestions and strategies that will assist teachers in gaining an ownership of their classroom and a true understanding of their vital role as a facilitator, mediator and coach. It is not a 'one cap fits all solution', but rather some practical tips that Reception teachers may decide to employ, alter and make their own.

Download or read book Getting it right for victims and witnesses written by Great Britain: Ministry of Justice and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2012-01-30 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In December 2010 the Government published a consultation document, 'Breaking the cycle', which proposed wide-ranging reforms to the way in which offenders are sentenced by the courts and are subsequently dealt with in custody and in the community. The Government response to the consultation was published July 2011 and Parliament is currently considering a package of measures set out in the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill. This document builds on themes that the Government first articulated in 'Breaking the cycle', in particular the importance of offenders making a greater contribution to putting right the harm they have done to victims of crime. The reforms set out in the document for consultation are based on the following principles: i) practical and emotional support should be given to those who need it most; ii) victims should receive help as and when they need it; iii) services should meet the different needs of communities across the country; offenders should make reparation for the impact of their crimes.

The toolkit comes complete with: learning outcomes and teaching notes for the 13 activitiesphotocopiable resources'benchmark' questions that a school can use to measure progress each yeara checklist for reviewing SRE provision in a primary schoola curriculum design toolexplanation of 'why' and 'how' to involve young children in reviewing SREThe toolkit builds on the success of 'Are you getting it right? for consulting secondary-aged pupils'. Exactly what is taught in SRE and from what age is too often debated and decided by adults without consulting the children it affects. However, even very young children can contribute their views about SRE provided suitable methods are used. This resource shows how this can be done in practice. Asking children their views on SRE gives them an opportunity to be active citizens and to fulfil their right to express opinions. This guide shows how listening to pupils can become part of school culture and thus reap benefits to pupil well-being, including raising self-esteem and developing social skills.
