Book German Reader Beginners A1 Novice Mein wunderbares Lokal My Wonderful Restaurant

This book was released on 2024-08-15 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Birgit, a young lawyer, regularly comes to the nearby restaurant during her lunch break because the daily menu is good, extensive and inexpensive. But Felix, the new young waiter even at her age, who serves Birgit, is anything but a skilful waiter: he forgets her order, often brings the wrong order, or even brings it late. Which of course annoys Birgit, because her break is short. But from initial quarrelling and charged tension, something unexpected soon develops. - The second short story by Klara Wimmer, who has now set the plot in Vienna. And there is another nice extra to the short story: the list of Austrian coffee specialities that can be ordered in a traditional Viennese coffee house. Book First Philosophy

    Book Details:
  • Author : Edmund Husserl
  • Publisher : Springer
  • Release : 2019-01-04
  • ISBN : 9402415971
  • Pages : 640 pages

Download or read book First Philosophy written by Edmund Husserl and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-01-04 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents, for the first time in English, Husserl’s seminal 1923/24 lecture course First Philosophy (Erste Philosophie) together with a selection of material from the famous research manuscripts of the same time period. The lecture course is divided into two systematic, yet interrelated parts (“Critical History of Ideas” and “Theory of the Phenomenological Reduction”). It has long been recognized by scholars as among the most important of the many lecture courses he taught in his career. Indeed it was deemed as crucially important by Husserl himself, who composed it with a view toward eventual publication. It is unsurprising, then, that First Philosophy is the only lecture course that is consistently counted among his major works. In addition to furnishing valuable insights into Husserl’s understanding of the history of philosophy, First Philosophy is his most sustained treatment of the phenomenological reduction, the central concept of his philosophical methodology. The selection of supplemental texts expands on the topics treated in the lectures, but also add other themes from Husserl’s vast oeuvre. The manuscript material is especially worthwhile, because in it, Husserl offers candid self-criticisms of his publicly enunciated words, and also makes forays into areas of his philosophy that he was loath to publicize, lest his words be misunderstood. As Husserl’s position as a key contributor to contemporary thought has, with the passage of time, become increasingly clear, the demand for access to his writings in English has steadily grown. This translation strives to meet this demand by providing English-speaking readers access to this central Husserlian text. It will be of interest to scholars of Husserl’s work, non-specialists, and students of phenomenology.

Book Popular Egyptian Cinema

Download or read book Popular Egyptian Cinema written by Viola Shafik and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2007 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this groundbreaking work, film scholar Viola Shafik examines popular and commercial movies from Egypt's film industry, including a number of the biggest box-office hits widely distributed in Egypt and the Arab world. Turning a critical eye on a major player in Egyptian cultural life, Shafik examines these films against the backdrop of the country's overall socio-political development, from the emergence of the film industry in the 1930s, through the Nasser and Sadat eras, up to the era of globalization. This is the first comprehensive book on popular Egyptian cinema in English, a milestone at a time when numerous disciplines have shown an increasing interest in popular culture. As this book ably demonstrates, popular cinema is a form of wish-fulfillment that expresses mass audiences' dreams and fears, while symbolically translating and negotiating social realities. In unearthing the largely contradictory meanings conveyed by different films, Popular Egyptian Cinema examines a broad array of themes, from gender relations to feminism, Islamism and popular ideas about sexuality and morality. Focusing on representations of religious and ethnic minorities-primarily Copts, Jews, and Nubians-Shafik draws out issues such as the formation of the Egyptian nation, cinematic stereotyping, and political and social taboos. Shafik also considers pivotal genres, such as melodrama, realism, and action film, in relation to public debates over highbrow and lowbrow culture and in light of local and international film criticism.Popular Egyptian Cinema marks an important contribution to international film studies while offering general readers an engrossing and informative look at some of the most popular films in Egyptian cinema.
