This book was released on 2017-11-18 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from German Commercial Practice Connected With the Export and Import Trade to and From Germany, the German Colonies, and the Countries Where German Is the Recognised Language of Commerce, Vol. 2 The commercial series of modern language handbooks is the first of its kind, and has been designed and written with a view to aiding the maintenance and development of British commerce in foreign markets. The series is intended for the use of commercial students and traders. It deals with the French, German, and Spanish languages as they are applied in actual commerce, and practically the whole of the matter contained in the books is drawn from real business, the series of letters and the documents having been used in actual foreign trade transactions. The books are the result (a) of much educational experience in connection with a scheme Of commercial education on the one hand, and, on the other hand, (6) of eighteen years of practical experience in connection with several large shipping houses both at home and abroad. Every endeavour has been made throughout to present the matter in such a manner that its influence may be thoroughly educational, if regarded as a mental training of a specialist type. Book French Commercial Practice Connected With the Export and Import Trade to and From France the French Colonies and the Countries Where French Is the Recognised Language of Commerce Vol 2 Classic Reprint

Download or read book French Commercial Practice Connected With the Export and Import Trade to and From France the French Colonies and the Countries Where French Is the Recognised Language of Commerce Vol 2 Classic Reprint written by James Graham and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-29 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from French Commercial Practice Connected With the Export and Import Trade to and From France, the French Colonies, and the Countries Where French Is the Recognised Language of Commerce, Vol. 2 To do so would in either case give a distorted picture and an untrue and inaccurate idea of the real trading practice of the other country. We repeat that the books are primarily characteristic of the trading practice of France, Germany, and Spain; but we would, in addition, point out that in the advanced handbooks we, after dealing fully with these characteristics, proceed to illustrate fairly exhaustively the practice of trading in operation in the French colonies, the German colonies, and the Old Spanish colonies and, lastly, the characteristics of the foreign countries adopting French, German, or Spanish as their recognised medium of communication. We also give facsimiles of French, German, and Spanish commercial documents and letters. Explanatory notes are also appended, wherever it is thought necessary, to throw light on points which may not be quite clear to the student or the trader. The leading idea that has been before us is that of a merchant doing a good home trade, who is desirous of developing a foreign trade in addition to this. The merchant himself has no time to devote to learning the technique of foreign trade. He has, however, a son who is on the point of leaving a good secondary school. This son he wishes to acquire a knowledge of foreign trade and customs in order that he, the son, may develop the desired foreign department. Fortunately, this youth is already possessed of a good general education; so we can, therefore, at once begin to train him specially. We begin to educate him so as to enable him successively to initiate, to develop, to supervise, and finally to direct a foreign trade department alongside his father's home trade department. In the first and introductory book, we place the young man on safe general ground when meeting with Frenchmen, Germans, or Spaniards, and show him how to reply to letters of courtesy. Book German Trade and the War Commercial and Industrial Conditions in War Time and the Future Outlook

Download or read book German Trade and the War Commercial and Industrial Conditions in War Time and the Future Outlook written by Chauncey Depew Snow and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-15 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from German Trade and the War, Commercial and Industrial Conditions, in War Time and the Future Outlook Sir: There is submitted herewith a report on German trade and the war, by Chauncey Depew Snowv Assistant Chief of the Bureau of Foreign and Domestic Commerce, and J. J. Krai, of the research division of the Bureau. This report takes up the question of the foreign trade of Germany where " German Foreign-Trade Organization," Miscellaneous Series No. 57, issued in 1917, left off. It discusses industrial and commercial conditions in Germany since the outbreak of the war, covering the manufacturing industries, the supplies of raw materials, the development of substitute materials, labor, combination and syndication of industry, and present markets. It contains some information concerning transportation conditions, the railroads, rivers and canals, and ocean shipping. This report also touches briefly on some of the broader subjects of Germany's commercial aims in going to war, and aspirations and preparations for the period after the war. Whereas in the previous report, "German Foreign-Trade Organization," detailed statistical and other information was given concerning the export trade, in the present report special attention is devoted to the subject of raw materials and the import trade. There are many topics here touched on which suggest the possibilities of future detailed treatment and very extensive research; for example, such topics as the effect of the war on the merchant shipping of Germany, and the extent of the loss to the German export trade by liquidation of German concerns in foreign countries. The facilities for such research and detailed treatment are not now available. It is realized that some of the topics discussed are treated m a fragmentary fashion, and that the discussion of some topics, such as plans and preparations for the future, are little more than a reproduction of the published views of some of the German economists and other men in public life. No apology is needed for the presentation of the material in its present form. Mr. Snow and Mr. Krai have followed such important newspapers, periodicals, and books published in Germany and all the other European countries as have been available in the Department. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Germany's Commercial Grip on the World: Her Business Methods Explained The war which Germany has let loose on the world sets before the public opinion of Europe a question which seemed to have been reserved, up to these last few years, for the study of economists or historians. How the poor Germany of 1870, with scarcely a place in economic geography, has risen in some forty years to become one of the great forces of the world; how - borrowing the saying of Prince Frederick Charles on the eve of Metz - she has succeeded in supplementing her victory on the field of battle by conquests in the industrial arena - these are phenomena which demand the close consideration of men of affairs, commercial and industrial. With her of external trade, the German Empire occupied on the eve of war a position and in importance among mercantile States, with the fit place held by England. She had become the second largest producer of pig-iron and iron, exceeding even the out put of England, while as a producer of steel she was again the second largest in the world. Her merchant marine, inferior to that of France in 1870, was in 1913 outnumbered only by those of England and the United States.
