Book The Geomagnetic Field and Life

Download or read book The Geomagnetic Field and Life written by A. Dubrov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am very pleased that my book The Geomagnetic Field and Life is being published in English in the United States. Thanks to the initiative of Plenum Press, a publishing hause that is widely known in all countries, I have a great new opportunity to make direct contact with friends throughout the world. My book on the geomagnetic field can be regarded as an abstraction, whose purpose is to provide a better picture and understanding of the world araund us, its main driving forces, and factors, to help us to know ourselves, and to proceed further. The essence of the abstraction is that in treating the problern I have deliberately ignored the diverse effects of various extemal factors on living organisms and have confined myself to an analysis of the effect of the GMF. This approach allows me to go one step further-to draw various conclusions and propose theories that rnight bring us closer to a proper understanding of the true nature of the phenomena. Philosophers have long been aware that by such abstract thinking we can deterrnine the nature of phenomena more reliably, completely, and comprehensively, penetrate to the very core of the observed effects, and perceive the depth of their interrelations.

  • Pages : 227 pages

Download or read book Geomagnetism written by Harold Spencer Jones and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-24 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annals of the International Geophysical Year, Part IV: Geomagnetism covers the principles and methods of observation of geomagnetism. This book is organized into four parts encompassing 17 chapters that also consider the concept of seismology and cosmic radiation. The first two parts focus on geomagnetism, its general principles, technique of scaling, method of measurement, and equipment for recording. These parts also provide results of geomagnetic activity obtained the Earth-current installation at the U.S.S.R. stations. The third part presents the monthly bulletins containing the reduced data on seismological activity during the International Geophysical Year. This part also deals with the use of seismological codes for data transmission from seismograms. The fourth part describes the instrumentation for measuring cosmic-ray intensity changes and the design specifications for a meson intensity recorder. This book is directed toward to geophysicists.

Book Geomagnetic Observations and Models

Download or read book Geomagnetic Observations and Models written by M. Mandea and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-12-10 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides comprehensive and authoritative coverage of all the main areas linked to geomagnetic field observation, from instrumentation to methodology, on ground or near-Earth. Efforts are also focused on a 21st century e-Science approach to open access to all geomagnetic data, but also to the data preservation, data discovery, data rescue, and capacity building. Finally, modeling magnetic fields with different internal origins, with their variation in space and time, is an attempt to draw together into one place the traditional work in producing models as IGRF or describing the magnetic anomalies.

Book Physics Of Geomagnetic Phenomena

Download or read book Physics Of Geomagnetic Phenomena written by S. Matsushita and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physics of Geomagnetic Phenomena, Volume I is a comprehensive, balanced, and authoritative introductory text to geomagnetism. The book is divided into three parts encompassing 11 chapters that discuss the advances in geomagnetism, the generation of geomagnetic field phenomena, and the geomagnetic storm generation mechanisms. The first part of the book covers the history, instrumentation, local anomalies, and different types of indices of geomagnetism. The second part discusses the paleomagnetic data for the direction and intensity of the geomagnetic field in ancient times, and then presents an outline of the theoretical interpretations of the main paleomagnetic results. This part also examines earth's main geomagnetic field and electromagnetic induction. The third part describes the morphologies of solar quiet and lunar daily variations on individual days and on the average, including the methods of obtaining current systems responsible for these variations and their results. Discussions on the geomagnetic variations in the equatorial zone; the neutral atmosphere and the quiet ionosphere; and the various geomagnetic and ionospheric phenomena are also provided.

Book The Geomagnetic Field

Download or read book The Geomagnetic Field written by David J. Knecht and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This survey summarizes what is known about the magnetic field of the earth, based on information available through 1971. Observed phenomena are described and interpreted in terms of the most widely accepted physical explanations. An overview of the geomagnetic field and its dynamic relationship with its terrestrial and interplanetary environment is first presented as briefly as possible, followed by more detailed descriptions of geomagnetic measurements and experimental methods, precise current models and past behavior of the main field, regular variations in the field resulting from the motion of the earth, disturbance variations of the field produced by interplanetary environment, and dynamic processes occurring in the outer magnetosphere. Extensive references is a replacement for Chapter 11 of Handbook of Geophysics and Space Environment (Shea L. Valley, ed.), Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories and McGraw-Hill Book Co., New York, 1965.
