Book excerpt: "Two special field projects on the Mesozoic rocks of northeastern British Columbia have been carried out during the past few field seasons: (1) a study of Triassic formations of northeastern British Columbia, begun by Pelletier in 1959 and continued in 1960,1961 and 1962; and (2) a study of the Lower Cretaceous Bullhead and Fort St. John Groups in outcrop sections, begun by Stott in 1961 and carried on in 1962. This is an interim account of the geology, together with a reconnaissance map based on information gathered in the course of these stratigraphic studies." --

Book Geology and Mineral Deposits of the Northern Kechika Trough Between Gataga River and the 60th Parallel

Download or read book Geology and Mineral Deposits of the Northern Kechika Trough Between Gataga River and the 60th Parallel written by Filippo Ferri and published by British Columbia, Ministry of Energy and Mines. This book was released on 1999 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Kechika Trough in the Rocky Mountains of northern British Columbia is host to numerous sedimentary exhalative barite-lead-zinc deposits collectively known as the Gataga mineral district. This report summarizes the bedrock mapping component of a multi-disciplinary study of the northern part of this basin. Field data for this component were collected during the summers of 1994 to 1996. Sections of the report describe the study area's lithologic units (Proterozoic to Cambrian strata, intrusives), geologic structure (faults, folds, cleavage), metamorphism, and economic geology (mineralization, skarns, veins, sulphides).

Book excerpt: The Forrest Kerr-Mess Creek map area straddles the intermontane & coast belt boundary in north-west British Columbia. The introduction includes information on previous geological work in the area and on the regional geology. Chapter 2 describes the stratigraphy of the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and later formations. Chapter 3 covers the area's intrusive rocks, including plutonic suites, dikes, and other intrusions. Chapter 4 discusses geologic structure, including deformational history and faults. The final chapter examines the area's economic geology and includes descriptions of mineral occurrences of four types: porphyry, skarn, sub-volcanic vein, and stratiform.
