Download or read book Geology and Geologic Hazards of Tooele Valley and the West Desert Hazardous Industry Area Tooele County Utah written by Bill D. Black and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The petrographic database consists of 705 maceral analyses, reflectance measurements, and density and porosity determinations from Utah coal samples. These data were collected by the Utah Geological Survey from 1982 to 1995. Samples were collected from seven of Utah's 22 coal fields. Coal fields sampled are the Book Cliffs (182 samples), Wasatch Plateau (262 samples), Emery (41 samples), Sego (27 samples), Henry Mountains (173 samples), Kaiparowits Plateau (12 samples), and Coalville (four samples). The data are sorted by coal-field names; within each field the analyses are arranged alphabetically by coal-bed name to facilitate comparison. The aim of the database is to provide the industry with information on petrographic properties of Utah coals. In addition, it should help the coal operators and purchasers to determine the best uses for Utah coals.

Download or read book Energy Mineral and Ground water Resources of Carbon and Emery Counties Utah written by R. W. Gloyn and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report provides information for use in both short- and long term land-planning decisions, particularly at the county level, and an indication of the present and future economic impact of mineral and energy development. The report discusses eight major commodity groups: (1) oil and gas, (2) coal and coal resin, (3) coal-bed methane, (4) other energy resources (oil-impregnated rock, oil shale, geothermal), (5) uranium and vanadium, (6) metallic minerals, (7) industrial rocks and minerals, and (8) ground-water resources. In general, for each group or commodity within a group the following aspects are discussed: (1) known occurrences and characteristics, (2) past production and trends, (3) current production and exploration activity, and (4) geologic potential. Plates accompany each of the major commodity groups and show the locations of known resources and areas of geologic potential. In addition to the commodity discussions, the report contains a brief summary of land ownership status and concludes with a summary of commodities having the best potential for discovery and development. 161 pages + 14 plates
