Book excerpt: Excerpt from Geological and Mineral Studies in Nuevo Leon and Coahuila, Mexico Unfortunately, no systematic geological work has been done in Mexico, so far as the writer knows, and thus many questions, which could otherwise be at least provisionally settled by the analogies of similar occurrences in the United States, must be dealt with in another way. Book La Popa Basin Nuevo Le n and Coahuila Mexico

Download or read book La Popa Basin Nuevo Le n and Coahuila Mexico written by Timothy Lawton and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-08-09 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the two excursions accessed from the Monterrey International Airport on the north side of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Excellent exposures of salt diapirs and flanking strata in La Popa basin, northeastern Mexico, contain world-class examples of salt–sediment interaction that provided the basis for the concept of halokinetic sequences. The basin also contains one of the first secondary salt welds described in outcrop. Two one-day excursions described here provide an easily accessible overview of salt–sediment relations within a short distance of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Excursion 1 constitutes an introduction to basin stratigraphy, an introduction to halokinetic sequences at El Papalote diapir, and a visit to a salt-cored detachment fold near Hidalgo, Nuevo León. Excursion 2 is a visit to La Popa salt weld, where stops at several parts of the weld permit comparison of different structural styles developed along the weld. Each excursion begins and ends at the Marriott Courtyard Aeropuerto Hotel, near the Monterrey airport.

This book was released on 2017-10-30 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Geology of the Cerrillos Hills, New Mexico Mexico, with the intention that it should appear as a recon naissance report in the bulletins of the Hadley Scientific Labora tories. The work was prompted andsupervised by Dr. C. L. Herrick, then President of the Territorial University at Albu querque, and Director of the Survey. It was found, however, in the course of the brief preliminary investigations then possible, that the field in question presented points worthy of more detailed study than could be given it at that time and permission was granted to withhold the publication of the paper until more satis factory results could be obtained. The work done at that time represented a few brief excursions to the region during the spring and summer of 1899 and 1900, a portion of the chemical work herein recorded. And some preliminary petrographic examinations. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After many years of geographical and bibliographical journeys, William Panczner has completed a project that many of us would have loved to initiate, but did not undertake because of its magnitude and intrinsic complexity. Not since L. Salazar Salinas, who is credited with authoring Bole tin numeros 40 and 41 (lnstituto Geologico de Mexico, 1922, 1923), has an author been able to provide readers with a comprehensive volume containing information that is both authentic and reliable on Mexican mineralogy, mineral species, and localities. This volume is the most complete synthesis about Mexican minerals and their occurrences to date. It is richly illustrated with photographs and drawings, is well documented, and is organized into four sections, making it easy to use and enjoyable to read. The introduction contains an interesting summary of the mining history and the development of mineralogy. It also describes, in a condensed but accurate and stimulating manner, the geography and the mineralogy of the country, dividing it into eleven mineral provinces. The author discusses eight of the more important mining districts in Mexico, which produce fine mineral speci mens. There is also a chronology of historical, geological, and mineralogical events in Mexico. This is followed by a bibliography with over 500 references on the subject.
