Book Broken Deeds MC Second Generation 8

Download or read book Broken Deeds MC Second Generation 8 written by Esther E. Schmidt and published by Esther E. Schmidt. This book was released on 2023-03-28 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ganza – At first it was a challenge to check who our government contact was, but finding out she’s one of the world top hackers, like me? It spurred me on to get close to her, even if I went against my president’s orders. Instead of keeping my distance we became online friends through a shared interest in gaming. This earns me the task to get even closer when evidence lands on our desk that the tiny, curvy woman has gone rogue. Kessie – Losing the only friend I had left forces me to risk the one thing that ties me to this world; my job. Instead of handing the case involving her murder over to Broken Deeds MC–the motorcycle club I’ve been overseeing as their government contact–I try to take matters into my own hands to gain justice. When things get personal it’s only human to make mistakes. A slight error can be the difference between life or death, catching criminals or letting them slip through your fingers. Disrupting a solid team can make everything fall apart, unless they change things up and come out stronger instead. Broken Deeds MC handles cases the government can’t close; they take charge and won’t stop until justice is served. This second generation is a series where each book is a new couple, handling a new case, and can each be read as a complete standalone with a happily ever after.

Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • Discover the game-changing theory of the cycles of history and what past generations can teach us about living through times of upheaval—with deep insights into the roles that Boomers, Generation X, and Millennials have to play—now with a new preface by Neil Howe. First comes a High, a period of confident expansion. Next comes an Awakening, a time of spiritual exploration and rebellion. Then comes an Unraveling, in which individualism triumphs over crumbling institutions. Last comes a Crisis—the Fourth Turning—when society passes through a great and perilous gate in history. William Strauss and Neil Howe will change the way you see the world—and your place in it. With blazing originality, The Fourth Turning illuminates the past, explains the present, and reimagines the future. Most remarkably, it offers an utterly persuasive prophecy about how America’s past will predict what comes next. Strauss and Howe base this vision on a provocative theory of American history. The authors look back five hundred years and uncover a distinct pattern: Modern history moves in cycles, each one lasting about the length of a long human life, each composed of four twenty-year eras—or “turnings”—that comprise history’s seasonal rhythm of growth, maturation, entropy, and rebirth. Illustrating this cycle through a brilliant analysis of the post–World War II period, The Fourth Turning offers bold predictions about how all of us can prepare, individually and collectively, for this rendezvous with destiny.

Book The Last Generation

  • Author : Peter S. Carmichael
  • Publisher : UNC Press Books
  • Release : 2015-12-01
  • ISBN : 146962589X
  • Pages : 360 pages

Download or read book The Last Generation written by Peter S. Carmichael and published by UNC Press Books. This book was released on 2015-12-01 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Challenging the popular conception of Southern youth on the eve of the Civil War as intellectually lazy, violent, and dissipated, Peter S. Carmichael looks closely at the lives of more than one hundred young white men from Virginia's last generation to grow up with the institution of slavery. He finds them deeply engaged in the political, economic, and cultural forces of their time. Age, he concludes, created special concerns for young men who spent their formative years in the 1850s. Before the Civil War, these young men thought long and hard about Virginia's place as a progressive slave society. They vigorously lobbied for disunion despite opposition from their elders, then served as officers in the Army of Northern Virginia as frontline negotiators with the nonslaveholding rank and file. After the war, however, they quickly shed their Confederate radicalism to pursue the political goals of home rule and New South economic development and reconciliation. Not until the turn of the century, when these men were nearing the ends of their lives, did the mythmaking and storytelling begin, and members of the last generation recast themselves once more as unreconstructed Rebels. By examining the lives of members of this generation on personal as well as generational and cultural levels, Carmichael sheds new light on the formation and reformation of Southern identity during the turbulent last half of the nineteenth century.

Book The Gospel according to Mark

Download or read book The Gospel according to Mark written by Camille Focant and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2012-07-06 with total page 757 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world to which the Gospel of Mark introduces its reader is a world of conflicts and suspense, enigmas and secrets, questions and overturning of evidence, irony and surprise. Its principal actor, Jesus, is perplexing in the extreme. He is evidently so for the religious authorities who oppose him, but also for his disciples, who shift from incomprehension to opposition and flight. Questions of meaning, life and death, good and evil are continually broached. This narrative is a subtle invitation to enter into a new world, that of the coming Reign of God, in which the first are last and whoever wants to save his life must lose it. This commentary on the Gospel of Mark has been enthusiastically reviewed in the French edition as one of the best current commentaries on Mark. As a narrative critical commentary, it favors an interpretation of the Gospel that tries to grasp the dynamic of the text taken as a whole. Even if the technical vocabulary of narrative analysis is not used, and the main results of the historical-critical criticism, particularly those of redaction criticism, are not neglected, as the notes will reveal, it is narrative criticism that guides the proceedings.
