This book was released on 2017-10-12 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Descendants of John Thomson, Pioneer Scotch Covenanter: Genealogical Notes on All Known Descendants of John Thomson, Covenanter, of Scotland, Ireland and Pennsylvania, With Such Biographical Sketches as Could Be Obtained From Available Published Records In no way can one obtain a better idea of the character of the records it was originally hoped would be included in the present book than by reading carefully the following instructions which were sent to every descendant of Pioneer John Thomson whose address was known, on at least two occasions, namely, when the work of compilation was first started in 1912, and after the records then on hand were placed in type in 1916. The information we wish to obtain on the family tree, arranged in the order of importance, is as follows: first - The Full home (not merely initials) of every, descendant of the Pioneer, the Full Name of the person married in each case, and the Full Name of each child born to every couple. Second - The Dates of all births, marriages and deaths. Third - The Present Address of every living descendant. Fourth - The Place of birth, marriage and death of every descendant. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Brockway Family: Some Records of Wolston Brockway, and His Descendants In January, 1887, the Hon. Beman Brockway published a pamphlet of twenty-two pages, contain ing the result of his studies, and intimating that one of the other parties might also print a collection of records at some future time. I decided to put my col lection in print as an encouragement to our cousins, and to make sure that the records should not be lost or scattered. As the family grows, there may be a chance for each member to compile and print a genealogy for himself. So mote it be. Book The Scottish Covenanter Genealogical Index 1630 1712

Download or read book The Scottish Covenanter Genealogical Index 1630 1712 written by Isabelle McCall MacLean and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2007-02-22 with total page 713 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work evolved out of a love for my ancestors, one being John Whitelaw, the Covenanter Monkland Martyr, who was executed for his religious beliefs in Edinburgh, 1683. While searching for his records I came across reference to thousands of other Scottish Covenanters. This Index lists those Covenanters found in some books written about the period between 1630 and 1712.There are many, many more Covenanters, whose names need to be added to this work, and, God willing, I will do it. The Covenanters were steadfast in their Presbyterian beliefs and refused to take an oath unto the King stating that he was the head of the church. They believed that Christ was the Head of the Church and their loyalty to this belief allowed them to lay their lives down for it. The Royalists and Dragoons, who were seeking to bring them into obedience to the King, relentlessly chased the Covenanters from glen to glen. This disregard for their civil rights was brutally carried out basically in the Lowlands of Scotland. Many of their records were destroyed along with their lives and their stories only live in family lore and books that were written about them. I have extracted some of their names and created The Scottish Covenanter Genealogical Index, which is by no means complete, but is a work in progress.

Book Genealogy of the Descendents of John Ferguson

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Genealogy of the Descendents of John Ferguson: A Native of Scotland Who Emigrated to America Before the Revolutionary War John Ferguson, the son of Peter and Isabel Ferguson of Duns, Berwickshire, Scotland, who emigrated to Amer ica and settled in Newport, Rhode Island, was the pro genitor of a large family and the only one of his father's family who had male descendants to perpetuate his name. The following genealogy contains a record of his descend ants down to the present time. It is a fact worthy of more than passing notice that his descendants are scattered all over the face of the globe. They are found in the United States from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast, in South Africa in goodly numbers, in China, and a record of one marriage in Australia. It is one purpose of this book to bring together and unite in one large family, the pre sent and succeeding generations of his descendants who may feel a just pride in bearing his name.
