Book Teddy Bear of the Year

Download or read book Teddy Bear of the Year written by Vikki VanSickle and published by Tundra Books. This book was released on 2020-01-21 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The teddy bears' picnic gets a modern twist in this warm and fuzzy picture book about a young teddy bear who learns that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Ollie is a regular bear with a regular job. He listens to his girl's stories about her days, he snuggles her to sleep and he is there waiting when she gets home from school. Just your typical teddy bear stuff. So when he is whisked away to the annual teddy bears' picnic, he feels insignificant compared to the other bears who do daring and daunting things: sleepovers, hospital stays--even a night in the lost and found! After small talk with a regional stuffing manager, a department of cuddling official and a stitchery inspector; a stop at the snack table; and even some team building activities, it's time for the teddy bear service awards . . . and Ollie feels even more small and unimportant. But he soon learns that it's not just the big things that matter, it's the little things too. While parents will love the tongue-in-cheek office-party details, kids and parents alike will fall in love with Ollie: a sweet bear who discovers that his love for his girl makes him very special indeed.

Eleanor has been writing articles and short stories for much of her life. While in mid-life, she wrote the story of her friend, Anne Wetzells, miraculous healing, titled, He Touched Her. She submitted her manuscript to a Christian Writers contest by Warner Press, Anderson, Indiana, where it won second prize and was subsequently published. In the 1970s, the Montrose School was scheduled to be demolished by the State Highway Administration. Director, Eileen McGuckian, of Peerless Rockville, rescued it. She asked Eleanor to write a history of the school she had attended as a child. Her book, Montrose School, The First Ninety Years, was published by Peerless in 1990. In the late 1990s, Eleanor discovered letters her father had written to her mother. Her mother had traveled from Maine to Kentucky to teach black children who had no public schools. Thinking this was a story that must be told, Eleanor set about writing her third book, Miss Apple, the Story of a Maine Teacher in Kentucky, published in 2002 by AuthorHouse. Eleanors gift for writing poems convinced her friend Eileen that they should be published, and another friend, Peggy Bjarno, agreed to compile her fourth book in 2003, Portraits in Poetry. In her book, All the Days of My Life, Eleanor tells how she became a Christian at ten years of age, and how that influenced the many important decisions of her life to come.

It’s a rainy day in October and mum’s new boyfriend, Petter, is visiting. Mari doesn’t like him. She dreams that her real daddy – she only remembers him from a black and white picture on her nightstand – will one day come to visit. —Daddy? Is that you? Her voice quivered. The last word was barely audible, nothing more than a small, hopeful breath. He nodded, bent down and opened his arms. —Yes, Little Wagtail. Come to daddy. *** There are many examples from real life of young girls held captive by disgusting men. Some of them for years and often in dark cellars in quite ordinary residential areas where no one knows what’s going on inside their neighbours’ four walls. Could the same thing happen in Kodal, the peaceful, small village right outside of Sandefjord in Norway?

Book Subatomic quantification

Download or read book Subatomic quantification written by Marcin Wągiel and published by Language Science Press. This book was released on with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goal of this book is to explore the relationship between the cognitive notion of parthood and various grammatical devices expressing this concept in natural language. The monograph aims to investigate syntactic constructions and lexical categories, e.g., partitives, whole-adjectives, and multipliers, encoding different kinds of part-whole structures both in Slavic and non-Slavic languages. It is envisioned to inspire radical rethinking of the ontology of models accounting for nominal semantics. Specifically, it provides novel evidence for a mereotopological approach to meaning, i.e., a theory of wholes that captures not only parthood but also topological relations holding between parts. This evidence comes from the phenomenon of subatomic quantification, i.e., quantification over parts of referents of concrete count nouns.
