Book Fuzzy Logic Speed Controllers Using Fpga Technique

Download or read book Fuzzy Logic Speed Controllers Using Fpga Technique written by Moayed Almobaied and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2011-04 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this Book, a modern FPGA card (Spartan-3A, Xilinx Company) is used to realized a novel Fuzzy- PID control strategy on a complex system; a three- phase induction motor (squirrel cage type) is selected as a case study. The Fuzzy logic control demonstrates a good performance. Furthermore, Fuzzy logic offers the advantage of a faster design, and emulation of human control strategies. Also, Fuzzy control works well for high-order and nonlinear and shows the efficiency over the PID controller. The proposed controller and the pulse width modulator (PWM) inverter algorithm which have been built in FPGA have resulted in a fast speed response and a good stability in controlling the three-phase induction motor. For comparison purpose, two widely used controllers are realized using the same FPGA kit: PID and Fuzzy. Simulations are performed using MATLAB/SIMULINK (R2009a) with varying load and speed conditions. The Fuzzy-PID control strategy outperformed both PID and Fuzzy controllers. This book will be especially useful to academics, researchers, and practitioners.

Download or read book Fuzzy Logic Type 1 and Type 2 Based on LabVIEWTM FPGA written by Pedro Ponce-Cruz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-21 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a comprehensive introduction to LabVIEW FPGATM, a package allowing the programming of intelligent digital controllers in field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) using graphical code. It shows how both potential difficulties with understanding and programming in VHDL and the consequent difficulty and slowness of implementation can be sidestepped. The text includes a clear theoretical explanation of fuzzy logic (type 1 and type 2) with case studies that implement the theory and systematically demonstrate the implementation process. It goes on to describe basic and advanced levels of programming LabVIEW FPGA and show how implementation of fuzzy-logic control in FPGAs improves system responses. A complete toolkit for implementing fuzzy controllers in LabVIEW FPGA has been developed with the book so that readers can generate new fuzzy controllers and deploy them immediately. Problems and their solutions allow readers to practice the techniques and to absorb the theoretical ideas as they arise. Fuzzy Logic Type 1 and Type 2 Based on LabVIEW FPGATM, helps students studying embedded control systems to design and program those controllers more efficiently and to understand the benefits of using fuzzy logic in doing so. Researchers working with FPGAs find the text useful as an introduction to LabVIEW and as a tool helping them design embedded systems.

Book Design and Analysis of Speed Control Using Hybrid PID fuzzy Controller for Induction Motors

Download or read book Design and Analysis of Speed Control Using Hybrid PID fuzzy Controller for Induction Motors written by Ahmed Jumaah Fattah and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis presents a hybrid PIDfuzzy control system for the speed control of a three phase squirrel cage induction motor. The proposed method incorporates fuzzy logic and conventional controllers with utilization of vector control technique. This method combines the advantages of fuzzy logic controller and conventional controllers to improve the speed response of the induction motor. The design of fuzzy system consists of 9 fuzzy variables and 49 IF THEN rules that define the behavior of the system. The FLC observes the loop error signal and correspondingly control the PID input error signal so that the actual speed signal matches the reference speed signal with reduced rise time, settling time, and peak over shoot. Implementation and simulation results using MATLAB SIMULINK of various hybrid system controllers are compared along with conventional PI controller in terms of several performance measurements such as rise time, maximum percent overshoot, settling time, and steady state error at various load conditions. The results verified the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid speed controller under different operating conditions and demonstrated improvements in performance in speed tracking and system's stability.

In addition, the balance between theoretical work and applications makes the book suitable for both researchers and engineers, as well as for graduate students.

Book Microcontroller based Fuzzy Logic Speed Controller for Three phase Induction Motor

Download or read book Microcontroller based Fuzzy Logic Speed Controller for Three phase Induction Motor written by Marwan A. A. Badran and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three-phase induction motors have been used in a wide range of industry applications; since they are robust, brushless and have simple design. Furthermore, the speed of induction motor can be easily controlled by variable frequency drives. The continuous development in power electronics semiconductors came out with modern electric drives. These drives use high speed power transistors, like IGBT and MOSFET, with various switching techniques. The speed control of induction motor is important to achieve maximum torque and efficiency. In the past decades, conventional control systems, such as proportional-integral derivative (PID) controller, were applied to electric drives to control the speed of induction motor. The PID controller is not a well established control method in motor drive because of the nonlinearity of induction motor. On the other hand, the use of Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) improves the performance of the speed control of induction motor. In this research, a microcontroller-based fuzzy logic controller was developed. The FLC replaces the conventional PI controller to improve the speed response of the drive in order to keep the speed of the induction motor constant when the load varies within the operating range. The research also included the design and implementation of a three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI) driven by Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) signal. The control system in this research was designed using Matlab/Simulink environment. The simulation included a comparison of speed response of FLC and PI controller. The input to FLC is the linguistic variable of speed error and change of speed error, while the output of FLC is the frequency fed to the inverter. The three-phase inverter was fabricated using MOSFET Hex-bridge connected to a low-pass LC-filter to smooth the inverter output voltage wave. In order to apply FLC and generate corresponding SVPWM signals a PIC16F877A microcontroller was used in the control system. The speed controller was tested using various values of input speed using simulation and experiments. The results showed the superiority of the proposed FLC over the conventional PI controller in the dynamics response of speed. The results also showed the ability of the proposed to generate a three-phase sine wave with desired frequency to control the speed of the induction motor with THD less than 5%.
