Book Practical Applications of Fuzzy Technologies

Download or read book Practical Applications of Fuzzy Technologies written by Hans-Jürgen Zimmermann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the late 1980s, a large number of very user-friendly tools for fuzzy control, fuzzy expert systems, and fuzzy data analysis have emerged. This has changed the character of this area and started the area of `fuzzy technology'. The next large step in the development occurred in 1992 when almost independently in Europe, Japan and the USA, the three areas of fuzzy technology, artificial neural nets and genetic algorithms joined forces under the title of `computational intelligence' or `soft computing'. The synergies which were possible between these three areas have been exploited very successfully. Practical Applications of Fuzzy Sets focuses on model and real applications of fuzzy sets, and is structured into four major parts: engineering and natural sciences; medicine; management; and behavioral, cognitive and social sciences. This book will be useful for practitioners of fuzzy technology, scientists and students who are looking for applications of their models and methods, for topics of their theses, and even for venture capitalists who look for attractive possibilities for investments.

Book An Introduction to Fuzzy Control

Download or read book An Introduction to Fuzzy Control written by Dimiter Driankov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fuzzy controllers are a class of knowledge based controllers using artificial intelligence techniques with origins in fuzzy logic to compute an appropriate control action. These fuzzy knowledge based controllers can be found either as stand-alone control elements or as integral parts of distributed control systems including conventional controllers in a wide range of industrial process control systems and consumer products. Applications of fuzzy controllers have become a well established practice for Japanese manufacturers of control equipment and systems, and are becoming more and more common for their European and American counterparts. The main aim of this book is to show that fuzzy control is not totally ad hoc, that there exist formal techniques for the analysis of a fuzzy controller, and that fuzzy control can be implemented even when no expert knowledge is available. Thus the book is mainly oriented toward control engineers and theorists rather than fuzzy and non-fuzzy AI people. However, parts can be read without any knowledge of control theory and may be of interest to AI people. The book has six chapters. Chapter 1 introduces two major classes of knowledge based systems for closedloop control. Chapter 2 introduces relevant parts of fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic. Chapter 3 introduces the principal design parameters of a fuzzy knowledge based controller (FKBC) and discusses their relevance with respect to its performance. Chapter 4 considers an FKBC as a particular type of nonlinear controller. Chapter 5 considers tuning and adaptation of FKBCs, which are nonlinear and so can be designed to cope with a certain amount of nonlinearity. Chapter 6 considers several approaches for stability analysis of FKBCs in the context of classical nonlinear dynamic systems theory.

Book Fuzzy Control and Modeling

Download or read book Fuzzy Control and Modeling written by Hao Ying and published by Wiley-IEEE Press. This book was released on 2000-08-15 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emerging, powerful fuzzy control paradigm has led to the worldwide success of countless commercial products and real-world applications. Fuzzy control is exceptionally practical and cost-effective due to its unique ability to accomplish tasks without knowing the mathematical model of the system, even if it is nonlinear, time varying and complex. Nevertheless, compared with the conventional control technology, most fuzzy control applications are developed in an ad hoc manner with little analytical understanding and without rigorous system analysis and design. Fuzzy Control and Modeling is the only book that establishes the analytical foundations for fuzzy control and modeling in relation to the conventional linear and nonlinear theories of control and systems. The coverage is up-to-date, comprehensive, in-depth and rigorous. Numeric examples and applications illustrate the utility of the theoretical development. Important topics discussed include: Structures of fuzzy controllers/models with respect to conventional fuzzy controllers/models Analysis of fuzzy control and modeling in relation to their classical counterparts Stability analysis of fuzzy systems and design of fuzzy control systems Sufficient and necessary conditions on fuzzy systems as universal approximators Real-time fuzzy control systems for treatment of life-critical problems in biomedicine Fuzzy Control and Modeling is a self-contained, invaluable resource for professionals and students in diverse technical fields who aspire to analytically study fuzzy control and modeling.

Book Fuzzy Reasoning in Information Decision and Control Systems

Download or read book Fuzzy Reasoning in Information Decision and Control Systems written by S.G. Tzafestas and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1994-02-28 with total page 548 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Great progresses have been made in the application of fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic. Most remarkable area of application is 'fuzzy control', where fuzzy logic was first applied to plant control systems and its use is expanding to consumer products. Most of fuzzy control systems uses fuzzy inference with max-min or max-product composition, similar to the algorithm that first used by Mamdani in 1970s. Some algorithms are developed to refine fuzzy controls systems but the main part of algorithm stays the same. Triggered by the success of fuzzy control systems, other ways of applying fuzzy set theory are also investigated. They are usually referred to as 'fuzzy expert sys tems', and their purpose are to combine the idea of fuzzy theory with AI based approach toward knowledge processing. These approaches can be more generally viewed as 'fuzzy information processing', that is to bring fuzzy idea into informa tion processing systems.

Book Fuzzy Control Systems Design and Analysis

Download or read book Fuzzy Control Systems Design and Analysis written by Kazuo Tanaka and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2004-04-07 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive treatment of model-based fuzzy control systems This volume offers full coverage of the systematic framework for the stability and design of nonlinear fuzzy control systems. Building on the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model, authors Tanaka and Wang address a number of important issues in fuzzy control systems, including stability analysis, systematic design procedures, incorporation of performance specifications, numerical implementations, and practical applications. Issues that have not been fully treated in existing texts, such as stability analysis, systematic design, and performance analysis, are crucial to the validity and applicability of fuzzy control methodology. Fuzzy Control Systems Design and Analysis addresses these issues in the framework of parallel distributed compensation, a controller structure devised in accordance with the fuzzy model. This balanced treatment features an overview of fuzzy control, modeling, and stability analysis, as well as a section on the use of linear matrix inequalities (LMI) as an approach to fuzzy design and control. It also covers advanced topics in model-based fuzzy control systems, including modeling and control of chaotic systems. Later sections offer practical examples in the form of detailed theoretical and experimental studies of fuzzy control in robotic systems and a discussion of future directions in the field. Fuzzy Control Systems Design and Analysis offers an advanced treatment of fuzzy control that makes a useful reference for researchers and a reliable text for advanced graduate students in the field.

Book Fault Diagnosis and Sustainable Control of Wind Turbines

Download or read book Fault Diagnosis and Sustainable Control of Wind Turbines written by Silvio Simani and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2018-01-02 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fault Diagnosis and Sustainable Control of Wind Turbines: Robust Data-Driven and Model-Based Strategies discusses the development of reliable and robust fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant (‘sustainable’) control schemes by means of data-driven and model-based approaches. These strategies are able to cope with unknown nonlinear systems and noisy measurements. The book also discusses simpler solutions relying on data-driven and model-based methodologies, which are key when on-line implementations are considered for the proposed schemes. The book targets both professional engineers working in industry and researchers in academic and scientific institutions. In order to improve the safety, reliability and efficiency of wind turbine systems, thus avoiding expensive unplanned maintenance, the accommodation of faults in their early occurrence is fundamental. To highlight the potential of the proposed methods in real applications, hardware–in–the–loop test facilities (representing realistic wind turbine systems) are considered to analyze the digital implementation of the designed solutions. The achieved results show that the developed schemes are able to maintain the desired performances, thus validating their reliability and viability in real-time implementations. Different groups of readers—ranging from industrial engineers wishing to gain insight into the applications' potential of new fault diagnosis and sustainable control methods, to the academic control community looking for new problems to tackle—will find much to learn from this work. Provides wind turbine models with varying complexity, as well as the solutions proposed and developed by the authors Addresses in detail the design, development and realistic implementation of fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control strategies for wind turbine systems Addresses the development of sustainable control solutions that, in general, do not require the introduction of further or redundant measurements Proposes active fault tolerant ('sustainable') solutions that are able to maintain the wind turbine working conditions with gracefully degraded performance before required maintenance can occur Presents full coverage of the diagnosis and fault tolerant control problem, starting from the modeling and identification and finishing with diagnosis and fault tolerant control approaches Provides MATLAB and Simulink codes for the solutions proposed
