In our judgment, futures markets are currently undergoing remarkable changes as trading is shifting from open outcry to electronic and as the traditional functions of hedging and speculation are extended to include futures as an alternative investment vehicle in traditional portfolios. Book Futures Markets Routledge Revivals

Download or read book Futures Markets Routledge Revivals written by Barry Goss and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-05-02 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1986, this book discusses many important aspects of the theory and practice of Futures Markets. It describes how they, at the time, grew to be an increasingly important feature of the world's major financial centres. Indeed, they adopted the role of being efficient forward pricing mechanisms and this was reflected by the interest of economists in the study of risk, uncertainty and information. Here, the contributors focus on areas that were of concern in the late 1980s such as feasibility, forward pricing and returns, and the modelling of price determination in Futures Markets. Evidence is drawn from twenty-five different commodities representing all the major commodity groups; and from all the world's major centres of Futures Trading.

Book The Principle of Trading Economics

Download or read book The Principle of Trading Economics written by Zhenying Wang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-23 with total page 871 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to establishing a completely new concept within economics referred to as "trading economics" which is a reconstructed economic system in theory that seeks perfect harmony between micro and macro elements in a structured way, hence making the economic theory a rigorous system supported by internal logical continuity. Representing a revolution of the existing theoretical framework, trading economics has changed the logic of mainstream economics. Specifically, it deduces the "macro whole" from the "micro individuals", and it introduces a systematic and comprehensive analysis approach. It stresses that within an interconnected world, the interaction between trading agents is the fundamental driving force behind the operation, development and evolution of the economic system.

Book excerpt: World Bank Discussion Paper No. 251. This study investigates the conflicting viewpoints of small- and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) and banks: the SMEs contend that the supply of bank financing is largely unavailable to them, while banks maintain that lending to these enterprises remains low because of lack of demand. Surveys were conducted among enterprises to assess demand and sources of finance, and financial institutions were interviewed to analyze the reasons for constraints on the supply side. Results show that credit is rarely granted for starting a new business. Thus, the smaller the enterprise, the greater the equity finance share of the initial investment. Evidence also suggests that exploitation of highly profitable opportunities could be accelerated by these enterprises if they had greater access to external financing. The study concludes that financial liberalization has had little effect on the access of SMEs to bank credit. It explains why banks have shown little interest in developing these enterprises as a market niche and suggests techniques that banks could adopt to overcome lending risks.
