Book Fundamentals of Gas Particle Flow

Download or read book Fundamentals of Gas Particle Flow written by G Rudinger and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Gas-Particle Flow is an edited, updated, and expanded version of a number of lectures presented on the “Gas-Solid Suspensions course organized by the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics. Materials presented in this book are mostly analytical in nature, but some experimental techniques are included. The book focuses on relaxation processes, including the viscous drag of single particles, drag in gas-particles flow, gas-particle heat transfer, equilibrium, and frozen flow. It also discusses the dynamics of single particles, such as particles in an arbitrary flow, in a rotating gas, in a Prandtl-Meyer expansion, and in an oscillating flow. The remaining chapters of the book deal with the thermodynamics of gas-particle mixtures, steady flow through ducts, pressure waves, gas-particle jets, boundary layer, and momentum transfer. The experimental techniques included in this book present the powder feeders, the instrumentation on particle flow rate, velocity, concentration and temperature, and the measurement of the particle drag coefficient in a shock tube.

Book Bubble Wake Dynamics in Liquids and Liquid Solid Suspensions

Download or read book Bubble Wake Dynamics in Liquids and Liquid Solid Suspensions written by Liang-Shih Fan and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 1990 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to a fundamental understanding of the fluid dynamic nature of a bubble wake, more specifically the primary wake, in liquids and liquid-solid suspensions, an dto the role it plays in various important flow phenomena of multiphase systems. Examples of these phenomena are liquid/solids mixing, bubble coalescence and disintergration, particle entrainment to the freeboard, and bed contraction.

Book Gas Liquid Two Phase Flow in an Ejector Induced Downflow Bubble Column

Download or read book Gas Liquid Two Phase Flow in an Ejector Induced Downflow Bubble Column written by Ajay Mandal and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2010-11 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fine dispersion of gas into liquid is one of the most important criteria for momentum, mass and energy transfer between the phases. It not only provides an intense mixing but also creates increased interfacial area and high mass transfer coefficient. A comprehensive study have been done on the gas holdup, pressure drop and energy dissipation during the gas-liquid two-phase flow in an ejector induced downflow bubble column. Experimental results were analyzed by previously established models. Correlations were also developed to predict the gas entrainment, gas holdup, two-phase friction factor and frictional loss coefficients in terms of physical, dynamic variables and the system parameters. Studies have also been made to measure the interfacial area and mass transfer coefficient of the present system using chemical method. It has been found that interfacial area and mass transfer coefficients are strong functions of superficial gas velocity.

Book Modeling Gas liquid Bubble Flow and Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation of Interfacial Area Concentration in Bubble Columns

Download or read book Modeling Gas liquid Bubble Flow and Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation of Interfacial Area Concentration in Bubble Columns written by Asem M. Al Jarrah and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was found that, in a fully developed turbulent flow bubble column, the liquid and gas velocity profiles far from the wall are approximately flat. Close to the wall, the velocity profiles are very sharp. In general, the velocity profiles for the gas and the liquid are similar to the velocity profile of one fluid flow in a pipe.
