Download or read book I m Already Professionally Developed written by Eddie B. and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2019-02-11 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eddie Brown found himself in a spot most teachers know all too well: Some days he loved his job, and other days he hated it. Teaching gave him money to take care of his family and a sense of fulfillment. But the culture, the work, the bureaucracy, and the stress wore him out. He walked a thin line between inspiration and despair. Each new school year, he’d give his relationship with academia another try, rolling the dice and praying to avoid a breakup. Things improved when he started coping with his struggles by engaging with them through comedy, joining the Teachers Only Comedy Tour. He went from performing on local stages in Houston in front of a few dozen people to telling jokes in major arenas and theaters across the country. From Charlotte to New York City, Dallas to Biloxi, Baton Rouge to Seattle, Montgomery to Denver, and countless other cities across America, tens of thousands of supportive fans have welcomed him with open arms, loud cheers, and contagious laughter. Join the author as he shares the struggles of what it means to be a teacher and celebrates the significance of mentoring, educating, and encouraging students.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Former teacher Eugene Gagliano had a front-row seat to the everyday trials of school life. In honor of all students who have ever grappled with show-and-tell missteps and problematic classmates, he's penned a clever poetry collection, My Teacher Dances on the Desk. Episodes from every aspect of school life, from visiting the school nurse to sitting next to the wrong student, are told through humorous verse. Move Me Soon I don't like sitting next to Rose. She's always picking at her nose, And chews her fingernails way down, And always wears a pouty frown. Black-and-white line drawings punctuate these school-year reflections. Students young and old will fondly recall their own school "daze" in My Teacher Dances on the Desk.Eugene Gagliano is known as "the teacher who dances on his desk." The recipient of the IRA's 2004 Wyoming State Literacy Award, Gene travels to schools and conferences with presentations as entertaining as they are informative. Tatjana Mai-Wyss was born in Switzerland. Her black-and-white work is usually done in India ink with a dip pen. Tatjana lives in South Carolina.

The contents unleash a host of funny and painful memories. As she examines each item, she contemplates the realities of public school and the remarkable young people whose lives had intersected with hers. She reveals hilarious tales of teenage recklessness as well as the dark and dangerous secrets she has kept over the years. The triumphs and tragedies of some of her most memorable students are powerful testaments to the resilience of the human spirit, but no secret is more intriguing than that of Jordan Michaels, one unforgettable and heroic student. In an era of increasing scrutiny of public education and a growing emphasis on test results and statistics, Empty Desk is a book that captures the vulnerability of students and their teachers. Download or read book Behind the Teacher s Desk written by Chris Williams and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-12-02 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Behind the Teacher's Desk" by Chris Williams is the first book I've read from this author, and it was fantastic. Right away it felt different than the normal kind of book I read---- In fact, I'd have kind of a hard time categorizing it exactly as there are so many elements involved. I have never read another book where the heroine was a teacher-at least not where her work was any sort of focus, and I must say I liked it. I think it's so easy to take for granted what teachers do day in and day out. This novel shows us just what a jungle it can be, from out of control and even violent kids, crazy colleagues, and heartbreaking realities of her students' lives. Throw in some romance drama of her own and it's a wild ride from start to finish! I loved reading it and will definitely be reading more from Chris Williams. (5 stars)

Download or read book What Went Right written by Roberta Israeloff and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2017-05-24 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In What Went Right: Lessons from Both Sides of the Teacher’s Desk co-authors Roberta Israeloff and George McDermott resume a conversation they began in 1967—when she was in eleventh grade at Syosset (N.Y.) High School and he was her English teacher. In 2014, after finding each other on Facebook, they began an email correspondence—as contemporaries, rather than student and teacher—and quickly discovered that neither had ever stopped thinking about that school and the many ways it influenced them. As they shared their impressions of how and why public education has changed since then, they realized that a single academic year can have a deeper and longer-lasting impact than they had ever imagined. Personal and probing, evocative and wide-ranging, the letters that compose this book ask and attempt to answer some timeless—and timely—questions: What makes a teacher or a class memorable? How can the teacher-student relationship be supported and strengthened? What does being “educated” truly mean? And, perhaps most important, what role can free public education play in sustaining our democracy?
