Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fate is defined as "the power that is believed to control everything that happens and that cannot be stopped or changed." It is more of a preternatural force that dictates the tempo, speed, taste, and direction of lives under its influence thereby wielding total control over such fated lives. If a person is fated to do something or fated to live in a particular way or go in a certain direction, it means the person is "unable to escape a particular fate" since "it is certain to happen because everything (about the person) is controlled by fate." As a result, so many people are living at the mercy of the ever-controlling force of fate; with their lives and destinies completely under its dictates. They cringe and sometimes, crash because of the things that happen to them. They live in utter helplessness. Because of their helpless helplessness, fated lives are permanently controlled by the forces of fate. On account of this, such lives are prone to uncertainties, with no control over the events in their lives as well as their actions. It gets to a point that many of them give up and rescind to fate thereby living a manner of life that is completely outside of their decisions but under the dictates of some external forces. The controlling and domineering influence of fate in many lives has occasioned the helplessness and hopelessness they suffer in life. That state of helplessness is what accounts for the numerous frustrations, anxiety, depression, and the increasing suicide cases we see, hear, and read in the news, all over the world. The most disturbing aspect is that, even with the solution made available by God for them to be free from fate; many lives are still dominated by it. Now, I should like to ask about you. Is your life being run by the forces of fate? Are you under the control of fate in any way? Do you believe you can never take control of your life and destiny? Is your life fated to go contrary to what you desire for yourself and your family? Have you given up your desire to change some things you experience in your life? Have you given up because you believe you can never have a say in the direction and condition of your life? Whatever may be the case with you, I would like you to know that there's hope for you! If you desire to take full control of your life and destiny under the supervision of faith in God, then you're reading the best book at this time of your life. Ignorance is the difference maker between a fate-dominated life and a faith-controlled destiny. Knowledge of what to do is the jinx-breaker and the game-changer! Fate must have controlled all our lives before now. But God had sent us an escape and a redemption plan so that everyone who desires freedom can be free from the power of fate. I was a victim of fate until God delivered me through faith and I can assure you that you, too, can be free from fate and its influences. Thus, if you remain under the power of fate, you're doing so as a matter of choice. There's provision for your liberation. It only requires your cooperation. Faith is the antidote to fate. And mercy is the channel thereto. The practical-steps solution to the problems of fate is captured on the pages of this timely book. It presents to you a scriptural but practical solution to the menace of fate and its controlling power in the lives and destinies of people. It will inspire you to take the right actions that will help you walk out free from every form of fate-related activity and captivity that may be bothering your life. Overall, you will discover how to freely and easily migrate from the stranglehold of fate into the stronghold of faith. Enjoy a spiritually reformative reading experience.

Book excerpt: From the author of the acclaimed Simply Christian and Surprised by Hope comes a book that addresses the question that has plagued humans for centuries—what is our purpose? As Christians, what are we to do with that ambiguous time between baptism and the funeral? It's easy to become preoccupied with who gets into heaven; the real challenge is how we are going to live in the here and now. Wright dispels the common misconception that Christian living is nothing more than a checklist of dos and don'ts. Nor is it a prescription to "follow your heart" wherever it may lead. Instead, After You Believe reveals the Bible's call for a revolution—a transformation of character that takes us beyond our earthly pursuit of money, sex, and power into a virtuous state of living that allows us to reflect God and live more worshipful, fulfilling lives. We are all spiritual seekers, intuitively knowing there is more to life than we suspect. This is a book for anyone who is hoping there is something more while we're here on Earth. There is. We are being called to join the revolution, and Wright insightfully encourages readers to find new purpose and clarity by taking us on an eye-opening journey through key biblical passages that promise to radically alter the work of the church and the direction of our lives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Emma Anderson uses one man's compelling story to explore the collision of Christianity with traditional Native religion in colonial North America. Pierre-Anthoine Pastedechouan was born into a nomadic indigenous community of Innu living along the St. Lawrence River in present-day Quebec. At age eleven, he was sent to France by Catholic missionaries to be educated for five years, and then brought back to help Christianize his people. Pastedechouan's youthful encounter with French Catholicism engendered in him a fatal religious ambivalence. Robbed of both his traditional religious identity and critical survival skills, he had difficulty winning the acceptance of his community upon his return. At the same time, his attempts to prove himself to his people led the Jesuits to regard him with increasing suspicion. Suspended between two worlds, Pastedechouan ultimately became estranged--with tragic results--from both his native community and his missionary mentors. An engaging narrative of cultural negotiation and religious coercion, Betrayal of Faith documents the multiple betrayals of identity and culture caused by one young man's experiences with an inflexible French Catholicism. Pastedechouan's story illuminates key struggles to retain and impose religious identity on both sides of the seventeenth-century Atlantic, even as it has a startling relevance to the contemporary encounter between native and non-native peoples.

Book Man s Fate and God s Choice

Download or read book Man s Fate and God s Choice written by Bhimeswara Challa and published by . This book was released on 2021-06-29 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stagnate as a 'creepy caterpillar' or transform into a 'beauteous butterfly'-this path-breaking book of a rare genre suggests-is the seminal choice before mankind, and every one of us. In this setting, the book raises some fundamental questions: What is man's rightful place in the cosmos and his manifest destiny on earth? Why are we so self-righteously self-destructive? Are we a doomed species? Or 'divine' beings struggling to overcome the hubris of the human intellect? Is God getting weary of mankind? How should we synergize human effort and Divine Grace? The book posits that any betterment in human behavior needs a cathartic change at the deepest levels. That requires diluting the dominance of the mind and reawakening the long-dormant intelligence of the human heart. To meet that challenge, we need minimum numbers, a 'critical mass' to create self-sustained momentum for transformation through consciousness change. And every single human of this generation should behave in such a way that he or she is that single person whose transformation could make the decisive species-scale difference. The book offers a menu of ideas and an agenda of action. This book could be itself become an input to mobilize that very 'critical mass' it advocates for human transformation. Well-planned and cohesively written, the book is noteworthy for its delightful blend of information and arguments, and reveals the depth of the author’s understanding of the human predicament... This is a closely argued and thought-provoking book... The Hindu, 13 Sept 2011 [This book] is a gripping exposition on human nature and self-transformation without preference to religion... Challa has critically provided a foundational argument for a deeper discussion of philosophical and practical ideals concerning self-transformation... harmonizing the head and the heart is the way for humans to function as spiritual beings. Recommended by the USR. The US Review of Books [The author] reflects upon the crisis of contemporary civilizations and outlines a blueprint for a new world order based on progressive spiritual values and change of human consciousness. The strength of this treatise is the sweep of Challa’s reach and his treatment of a vastly complex set of issues that bedevil humankind today... India International Center Quarterly, Summer 2012 As a thinker and erudite scholar, [the author] has made a profound study of the world situation and the moral decadence of man... [This book] deserves to be on the shelves of university, college and public libraries... Triveni Magazine, July–Sept 2011 It is difficult to pigeon-hole this book as... a ‘prophetic discourse’, a ‘journey into the human mind’, a ‘guide for human survival’, a ‘spiritual treatise’. It is an amalgam of all these and more... the volume reaches out to those who are already uneasy about the way we on this earth are progressing. The Book Review, India, June 2013
