Born in the Highlands of Haliburton County, Ontario, Canada, in a house on a dirt road, with no electricity or indoor plumbing, Ray Miller takes the reader through the many phases of his life filled with financial, medical, and emotional challenges. Read how the rapid pace of modern innovation took him from transportation by horse and buggy to supersonic air travel and from word of mouth to cell phones. Follow his experiences; sometimes moving, often humorous, as relationships and hard work take him through his fascinating life.

Book Satellite Remote Sensing and the Management of Natural Resources

Download or read book Satellite Remote Sensing and the Management of Natural Resources written by Nathalie Pettorelli and published by . This book was released on 2019-05 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ability to anticipate the impacts of global environmental changes on natural resources is fundamental to designing appropriate and optimised adaptation and mitigation strategies. However, this requires the scientific community to have access to reliable, large-scale information onspatio-temporal changes in the distribution of abiotic conditions and on the distribution, structure, composition, and functioning of ecosystems. Satellite remote sensing can provide access to some of this fundamental data by offering repeatable, standardised, and verifiable information that is directly relevant to the monitoring and management of our natural capital. This book demonstrates how ecological knowledge and satellite-basedinformation can be effectively combined to address a wide array of current natural resource management needs. By focusing on concrete applied examples in both the marine and terrestrial realms, it will help pave the way for developing enhanced levels of collaboration between the ecological andremote sensing communities, as well as shaping their future research directions. Satellite Remote Sensing and the Management of Natural Resources is primarily aimed at ecologists and remote sensing specialists, as well as policy makers and practitioners in the fields of conservation biology, biodiversity monitoring, and natural resource management.

Book Nowcasting CO2 Emissions early estimates or nowcasts for monitoring changes in greenhouse gas emissions GHGs

Download or read book Nowcasting CO2 Emissions early estimates or nowcasts for monitoring changes in greenhouse gas emissions GHGs written by Pandis Iveroth, Sofie and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2022-08-16 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Available online: https://pub.norden.org/temanord2022-537/ Anthesis AB, Real-Zero Consulting HB, PlanMiljø Aps and Kausal Ltd have conducted a survey on the use and the possible uses of early estimates or “nowcasts” for monitoring changes in greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) with a focus on fossil CO2. Nordic countries report emission statistics to the UNFCCC as well as EU. Due to more ambitious national mitigation targets, there is need for more timely emission statistics. The project suggests a development of early estimates through:- further analysis of the need and possibilities for nowcasting, focusing on a clear understanding of what timely emission estimates will be used for.- instigate a climate policy lab, given the complexity to overview and communicate the need and possibilities for nowcasting data.- create a portal collecting available emission statistics, as currently it is a complex task to overview available emission statistics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes a very close look at energy and energy security from a hands-on, technical point of view with an ultimate goal of sorting out and explaining the deep meaning of energy as well as the key factors and variables of our energy security. The book reviews the major energy sources—coal, crude oil, natural gas, the renewables, and other alternative fuels and technologies—according to the way they affect our energy security now and what consequences might be expected in the future. Topics include the different technical, logistics, regulatory, social, political, and financial aspects of modern energy products and technologies. The advantages and disadvantages of the different fuels, technologies, energy strategies, regulations, and policies are reviewed in detail, sorted, and clearly laid out as well as their effects on our present and future energy security in a way that is easy to understand by high school students, engineers, and professors alike. This book is a must-read for energy executives, environmental specialists, investors, bankers, lawyers, regulators, politicians, and anyone involved, or interested, in today’s energy production and use and their effects on our energy security.

Book Solar PV Power and Solar Products Handbook Solar Energy Solar Lighting Solar Power Plant Solar Panel Solar Pump Solar Photovoltaic Cell Solar Inverter Solar Thermal Power Plant Solar Farm Solar Cell Modules with Manufacturing Process Equipment Details Plant Layout Process Flow Chart

Download or read book Solar PV Power and Solar Products Handbook Solar Energy Solar Lighting Solar Power Plant Solar Panel Solar Pump Solar Photovoltaic Cell Solar Inverter Solar Thermal Power Plant Solar Farm Solar Cell Modules with Manufacturing Process Equipment Details Plant Layout Process Flow Chart written by Ajay Kumar Gupta and published by NIIR PROJECT CONSULTANCY SERVICES. This book was released on 2022-04-25 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solar energy is expanding worldwide and becoming an increasingly important part of the energy mix in many countries. Solar energy is used all over the world, but in terms of total installed solar capacity, India, China, Japan, and the United States are now top of the world. Solar panels can create power almost anywhere on the planet. However, some regions receive more sunshine than others and hence have a greater solar energy potential. It is based on insolation, which is a measurement of how much solar radiation reaches a specific area on the earth's surface. Solar energy can be captured in a variety of ways. Photovoltaic solar panels are the most frequent method. Photovoltaic (PV) devices use semiconductors to generate power directly from sunlight. Photons impact and ionize semiconductor material on the solar panel as the silicon photovoltaic solar cell absorbs solar energy, causing electrons to break free of their atomic bonds. A flow of electrical current is created when electrons are compelled to move in one direction. Only a portion of the light spectrum is absorbed, while the rest is reflected, too faint (infrared), or generates heat rather than electricity (ultraviolet). Concentrated solar power is the second type of solar energy technology (CSP). Solar thermal energy is used in CSP facilities to create steam, which is subsequently turned into electricity via a turbine. The global solar energy installed capacity is estimated to reach 1,645 gigawatts (GW), registering a CAGR is 13.78%. The growth of the solar energy market is driven by an increase in environmental pollution and the provision of government incentives & tax rebates to install solar panels. In addition, a decrease in water footprint associated with solar energy systems has fueled their demand in power generation sectors. The demand for solar cells has gained major traction owing to a surge in rooftop installations, followed by an increase in applications in the architectural sector. Furthermore, the demand for parabolic troughs and solar power towers in electricity generation is expected to boost the demand for concentrated solar power systems. Only the two commonly recognized kinds of technology for converting solar energy into electricity — photovoltaics (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP, also known as solar thermal) — are considered in their current and possible future forms in The Future of Solar Energy. Expanding the solar sector considerably from its current small size may result in developments that no one can predict right now. Solar deployment in the future will be highly influenced by uncertain future market conditions and public policies, including but not limited to measures aimed at mitigating global climate change. The book covers a wide range of topics connected to Solar, as well as their manufacturing processes. It also includes contact information for machinery suppliers, as well as images of equipment. A complete guide on Solar PV Power and Solar Products manufacture and entrepreneurship. This book serves as a one-stop-shop for everything you need to know about the Solar, which is ripe with opportunities for manufacturers, merchants, and entrepreneurs. This is the only book that covers Solar PV Power and Solar Products in depth. From concept through equipment procurement, it is a veritable feast of how-to information.
