I had a plan to deal with her. The free-use pill my friend gave me - the same one I took for the cop lady - was still working. According to my clock, I still had an hour of its effects left. I sped as fast as I could the rest of the way to work. Before leaving, I'd had Jessica put my plates in the system as a VIP diplomat. She assured me that from now on I would be left alone. "Speed all you want!" She cheerfully explained. "Until they find out the truth, you're pretty much untouchable." That's exactly what I was going to do. With about 45 min left, I arrived at work. Of course, I was going to be in very deep shit as I was well over an hour late. I confidently strode into work. Right off the bat, the secretary handed me a piece of folded paper. I took it and heard her click her tongue "tut tut." I ignored her and read the note: You better fucking have a good excuse, Mark. This is your final warning!!! More whispers and snickers. I turned around and confronted them. "You shouldn't snicker behind your boss's back." I said calmly. "We weren't." One of the ladies said. "We were snickering at you. Fortunately, you're not our boss." I smiled politely. "Yet," I said and turned and strode into the boss's room.
