Download or read book Free at Last with the Spirit of Truth written by P. Jay Bluerock and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2018-03-23 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Free at Last is a collection of experiences and stories about the spiritual journey of a dying man and on how he finds integrity on the steps leading to the gates of hell. Jay Bluerock will take you on a sacred journey, where you will experience adventures that will challenge you in ways that you do not expect. So go with Jay on this sacred adventure from childhood to adulthood. Travel with him when, as a child, he experienced his first sacred adventure at the family cabin, which is nestled in beside Big Rock River and the Cascade Mountains. Follow him along the path of his adolescent years in high school and read about how he fell in love for the first time and was honored to be associated student-body president and, later, won a basketball scholarship to play basketball at Starbright University. After reading about these adventures, let yourself go into his past more, and he will show you how reading a spiritual book inspired him to hitchhike around the United States as he was trying to find his guru. You’ll understand how this experience changed his life. Then read about his involvement in the social revolution here in the United States in the sixties and seventies. He will want to take you into the stories about what it was like to be a draft resister and what he went through in order to marry a beautiful and wealthy undergraduate student at Starbright University. See what it was like to be on trial for draft resistance and win. Then learn how he helped create the first free alternative elementary school in the state of Washington. As you continue to travel with him, you’ll see what it was like to be an alcoholic and addict. You’ll witness how the insanity of the disease led him into a divorce and how he survived it all on his way to recovery. Finally, he shares with you what it was like for him to live as a clean and sober Christian living in today’s world.

Book Truth Or Territory

  • Author : Jim Osman
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2015-09-11
  • ISBN : 9780692512449
  • Pages : 254 pages

Download or read book Truth Or Territory written by Jim Osman and published by . This book was released on 2015-09-11 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a critique of common spiritual warfare practices including binding Satan, renouncing curses, spiritual mapping and exorcisms. Using Scripture, and Scripture alone, Pastor Jim Osman shows that true spiritual warfare is not a battle over territory, but a battle for the truth. The book is divided into four sections: Establishing Biblical Principles, Exposing Unbiblical Practices, Explaining Biblical Perspectives and Examining a Biblical Passage. A biblical approach to spiritual warfare recognizes the Bible as the sole authority, rejects unbiblical and man-made methods, and rests in Christ and His finished work for victory. Many in the modern spiritual warfare movement teach a methodology of spiritual warfare that is more akin to something you would find in a Harry Potter novel (renouncing curses and using prayer mantras to seize territory) than anything described in Scripture. Many of these practices reflect a theology built on anecdotes, experience, and interviews with demons rather than a sound exegesis of Scripture. Footnoted quotations of authors like Mark Bubeck, Neil T. Anderson, and others are compared against Scripture to show that modern spiritual warfare "experts" have abandoned the authority of Scripture and opted for man-made methods to wage spiritual battle. The chapters include a study of the three enemies that every Christian faces: the world, the flesh, and the devil. Pastor Osman answers from Scripture the questions: Can a Christian be demon-possessed? Is Christ's authority ours? and, What about exorcisms? One chapter includes a helpful discussion of the link between spiritual warfare and a believer's sanctification. The foreword is written by international conference speaker Justin Peters (justinpeters.org). This book is being published as an e-book as a fundraiser to finish the new church building of Kootenai Community Church (www.kootenaichurch.org) of which Jim is one of the pastors. All the proceeds go the building fund for the completion of that project. You can see regular updates at http: //www.truthorterritory.com .

Book excerpt: Imagine what our world might look like if Christians became known for remarkable love, as well as life-giving truth. The stakes are high and the need is great for Christians to represent Jesus to a watching world. And today, we have more influence than ever before--for better and for worse. We are among the first generations to have access to a global megaphone through social media. But it's not enough to speak truth louder to a noisy culture. To counter the reputation Christians have earned, our love must be just as loud. Ask evangelist Matt Brown, and he will tell you Christians today are facing a crisis of influence. In our rush to speak truth to today's tensions, cultural issues, and trending controversies, it becomes all too easy to focus on proving our points rather than extending God's grace. Conversely, when we seek only to love yet never proclaim a better way, we short-circuit God's plan. Truth Plus Love invites you to rediscover the biblical framework for engaging culture as ambassadors of Christ. Through biblical insight, cultural analysis, and practical principles, Matt Brown outlines how to champion truth without compromise, how to love unconditionally, and ultimately, how to step into this great adventure of representing God to the world. It's hard, it's messy, and it's the unfinished project of a lifetime, yet here we find our great adventure: representing God to a watching world.

Book Avenue of Spies

    Book Details:
  • Author : Alex Kershaw
  • Publisher : Crown
  • Release : 2016-08-02
  • ISBN : 0804140057
  • Pages : 330 pages

Download or read book Avenue of Spies written by Alex Kershaw and published by Crown. This book was released on 2016-08-02 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The best-selling author of The Liberator brings to life the incredible true story of an American doctor in Paris, and his heroic espionage efforts during World War II. The leafy Avenue Foch, one of the most exclusive residential streets in Nazi-occupied France, was Paris's hotbed of daring spies, murderous secret police, amoral informers, and Vichy collaborators. So when American physician Sumner Jackson, who lived with his wife and young son Phillip at Number 11, found himself drawn into the Liberation network of the French resistance, he knew the stakes were impossibly high. Just down the road at Number 31 was the "mad sadist" Theodor Dannecker, an Eichmann protégé charged with deporting French Jews to concentration camps. And Number 84 housed the Parisian headquarters of the Gestapo, run by the most effective spy hunter in Nazi Germany. From his office at the American Hospital, itself an epicenter of Allied and Axis intrigue, Jackson smuggled fallen Allied fighter pilots safely out of France, a job complicated by the hospital director's close ties to collaborationist Vichy. After witnessing the brutal round-up of his Jewish friends, Jackson invited Liberation to officially operate out of his home at Number 11—but the noose soon began to tighten. When his secret life was discovered by his Nazi neighbors, he and his family were forced to undertake a journey into the dark heart of the war-torn continent from which there was little chance of return. Drawing upon a wealth of primary source material and extensive interviews with Phillip Jackson, Alex Kershaw recreates the City of Light during its darkest days. The untold story of the Jackson family anchors the suspenseful narrative, and Kershaw dazzles readers with the vivid immediacy of the best spy thrillers. Awash with the tense atmosphere of World War II's Europe, Avenue of Spies introduces us to the brave doctor who risked everything to defy Hitler.
