Book The Effect of Operational Speed on the Fracture of Nickel Titanium Rotary Instruments

Download or read book The Effect of Operational Speed on the Fracture of Nickel Titanium Rotary Instruments written by George Gray Kitchens and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numerous nickel titanium rotary file systems have been introduced in recent years. The recommended speed at which these files are to be operated varies widely between manufacturers. The purpose of this study was to test the number of rotations to fracture of NiTi rotary files when operated at different speeds and at different angles. Sixty size 25 Profile® nickel titanium rotary files were tested, thirty 0.04 and thirty 0.06 taper. Files were operated at speeds of 350 or 600 rpm and at angles of 25°, 28°, and 33.5°. The time to fracture was recorded and the numbers of rotations to fracture were calculated. The data was analyzed using a two-way ANOVA, and post hoc Tukey-Kramer multiple-comparison test with alpha = .001. The results show a significant difference in the number of rotations fracture according to taper and angle. Files of .06 taper fractured more readily than files of .04 taper as the speed increased, and the time to fracture decreased for both tapers as the angle increased. No significant difference was produced by the speed at which the files were operated. The number of rotations until fracture of NiTi rotary files is not related to the operational speed.

Book Management of Fractured Endodontic Instruments

Download or read book Management of Fractured Endodontic Instruments written by Theodor Lambrianidis and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-09-28 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This superbly illustrated book provides detailed information on the causes of instrument failure during endodontic treatment, the factors influencing the management of such cases, and the diverse management options that may be employed to resolve the problem. Readers will find clear descriptions and comparative evaluation of the available methods, techniques, and devices. Complications that may arise during the management of fractured instruments are described, and the impact of retained file fragments on the prognosis of endodontic treatment is discussed. In addition, means of preventing iatrogenic errors from occurring in the first place (the best form of management) are explained, emphasizing that the risk of instrument failure is reduced if proper guidelines are carefully considered and followed. The book will assist both endodontists and general dental practitioners in achieving an optimal outcome when confronted with the time-consuming and challenging task of dealing with a fractured instrument within the root canal – a still frequent circumstance despite the plethora of improvements in instrument design, alloy composition, and manufacturing processes.

Book Metallography and Microstructure in Ancient and Historic Metals

Download or read book Metallography and Microstructure in Ancient and Historic Metals written by David A. Scott and published by Getty Publications. This book was released on 1992-01-02 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David A. Scott provides a detailed introduction to the structure and morphology of ancient and historic metallic materials. Much of the scientific research on this important topic has been inaccessible, scattered throughout the international literature, or unpublished; this volume, although not exhaustive in its coverage, fills an important need by assembling much of this information in a single source. Jointly published by the GCI and the J. Paul Getty Museum, the book deals with many practical matters relating to the mounting, preparation, etching, polishing, and microscopy of metallic samples and includes an account of the way in which phase diagrams can be used to assist in structural interpretation. The text is supplemented by an extensive number of microstructural studies carried out in the laboratory on ancient and historic metals. The student beginning the study of metallic materials and the conservation scientist who wishes to carry out structural studies of metallic objects of art will find this publication quite useful.

Book Dynamical Contact Problems with Friction

Download or read book Dynamical Contact Problems with Friction written by Walter Sextro and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to describe an efficient procedure to model dynamical contact problems with friction. This procedure is applied to different practical problems and validated by experiments. Friction contacts are used to transmit forces or to dissipate energy. Examples for dynamical engineering systems with friction are brakes, machine tools, motors, turbines, bearings or wheel-rail systems. A better understanding of friction phenomena can result in improvements like the reduction of noise and maintenance costs, increased life time of machines and improved energy efficiency. Dependent on the features of the friction contact, different contact models and solution methods are applied.

Book The Rationale of Operative Fracture Care

Download or read book The Rationale of Operative Fracture Care written by Joseph Schatzker and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the publication of the AO book Technique of Internal Fixation of Fractures (Miiller, Allgower and Willenegger, Springer-Verlag, 1965), the authors decided after considerable discussion amongst themselves and other members of the Swiss AO that the next edition would appear in three volumes. In 1969, the first volume was published (the English edition, Manual of Internal Fixation, appeared in 1970). This was a manual of surgical technique which discussed implants and instruments and in which the problems of internal fixation were presented schematically without radio logical illustrations. The second volume was to be a treatise on the biomechanical basis of internal fixation as elucidated by the work done in the laboratory for experi mental surgery in Davos. The third volume was planned as the culminating effort based upon the first two volumes, treating the problems of specific fractures and richly illustrated with clinical and radiological examples. It was also to discuss results of treatment, comparing the results obtained with the AO method with other methods. The second and third volumes were never published. The second edition of the AO Manual appeared in 1977. It dealt in greater detail with the problems discussed in the first edition, although it still lacked clinical exam ples and any discussion of indications for surgery. Like the first edition, it was trans lated into many languages and was well received. Finally, after 22 years, the much discussed and much needed third volume has appeared.
