Book Mathematics of Program Construction

Download or read book Mathematics of Program Construction written by Roland Backhouse and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-12-30 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of MPC 2000, the ?fth international c- ference on Mathematics of Program Construction. This series of conferences aims to promote the development of mathematical principles and techniques that are demonstrably useful and usable in the process of constructing c- puter programs (whether implemented in hardware or software). The focus is on techniques that combine precision with concision, enabling programs to be constructed by formal calculation. Within this theme, the scope of the series is very diverse, including programming methodology, program speci?cation and transformation, programming paradigms, programming calculi, and progr- ming language semantics. The quality of the papers submitted to the conference was in general very high. However, the number of submissions has decreased compared to the pre- ous conferences in the series. Each paper was refereed by at least ?ve and often more committee members. In order to maintain the high standards of the c- ference the committee took a stringent view on quality; this has meant that, in some cases, a paper was rejected even though there was a basis for a good c- ference or journal paper but the submitted paper did not meet the committee’s required standards. In a few cases a good paper was rejected on the grounds that it did not ?t within the scope of the conference.

Book Tools and Algorithms for the Construction and Analysis of Systems

Download or read book Tools and Algorithms for the Construction and Analysis of Systems written by Joost-Pieter Katoen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-31 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ETAPS 2002 was the ?fth instance of the European Joint Conferences on Theory and Practice of Software. ETAPS is an annual federated conference that was established in 1998by combining a number of existing and new conferences. This year it comprised 5 conferences (FOSSACS, FASE, ESOP, CC, TACAS), 13 satellite workshops (ACL2, AGT, CMCS, COCV, DCC, INT, LDTA, SC, SFEDL, SLAP, SPIN, TPTS, and VISS), 8invited lectures (not including those speci?c to the satellite events), and several tutorials. The events that comprise ETAPS address various aspects of the system - velopment process, including speci?cation, design, implementation, analysis, and improvement. The languages, methodologies, and tools which support these - tivities are all well within its scope. Di?erent blends of theory and practice are represented, with an inclination towards theory with a practical motivation on one hand and soundly-based practice on the other. Many of the issues involved in software design apply to systems in general, including hardware systems, and the emphasis on software is not intended to be exclusive.

Book Modeling and Analysis of Longitudinal Data

Download or read book Modeling and Analysis of Longitudinal Data written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2024-02-20 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Longitudinal Data Analysis, Volume 50 in the Handbook of Statistics series covers how data consists of a series of repeated observations of the same subjects over an extended time frame and is thus useful for measuring change. Such studies and the data arise in a variety of fields, such as health sciences, genomic studies, experimental physics, sociology, sports and student enrollment in universities. For example, in health studies, intra-subject correlation of responses must be accounted for, covariates vary with time, and bias can arise if patients drop out of the study. - Provides the authority and expertise of leading contributors from an international board of authors - Presents the latest release in the Handbook of Statistics series - Updated release includes the latest information on Modeling and Analysis of Longitudinal Data
