Elle est en constante évolution et plus particulièrement actuellement où la question d'un internat obligatoire se pose. En France, seulement trois spécialités sont reconnues contrairement à d'autres pays comme le Chili, où une dizaine de spécialités existent. Nous avons voulu comparer la formation du chirurgien-dentiste français à l'échelle internationale. Pour ce faire, cette comparaison se base sur trois pays : France, Chili et Japon afin d'avoir un comparatif entre trois continents différents. Nous nous sommes intéressés à l'analyse de la formation initiale comprenant plus particulièrement l'exploration des outils d'enseignements et des compétences acquises du chirurgien-dentiste, ainsi qu'à la formation continue. Ces modèles sont basés sur les facultés d'odontologie suivantes : la faculté de chirurgie-dentaire de Strasbourg, la facultad de Odontologia de la Universidad de Chile, the Health Science University of Hokkaido. Une enquête auprès des étudiants de ces 3 facultés a également été réalisée afin d'apporter un point de vue subjectif. Le but de ce travail est de faire ressortir les points positifs et négatifs de la formation du chirurgien-dentiste de ces trois facultés afin d'offrir un point de vue original et de nouvelles perspectives au système d'enseignement actuel.

Cela se retrouve tout d'abord dans sa répartition géographique (campagne - zone urbaine), puis la proportion de personnes travaillant dans le domaine libéral, et travaillant dans le domaine public, les recommandations de bonnes pratiques courantes. Nous avons voulu connaître les différences qui régissent la vie de tous les jours du chirurgien-dentiste, selon les modèles de trois continents différents ; et pour comprendre ces variétés, nous nous sommes également intéressés à l'analyse de l'organisation du système de santé, ainsi que des systèmes d'assurances. L'objectif de cette étude est d'évaluer la qualité de prise en charge d'un patient, son accès au soin, dans trois pays de continents différents et les habitudes de travail des chirurgiens-dentistes.

Book excerpt: Cette thèse porte sur l'analyse et la comparaison de la formation initiale des chirurgiens-dentistes européens à travers l'étude des curricula de trois pays distincts : la France, l'Espagne et la Finlande. Pour cela, le contexte socio-économique de chaque pays d'une part, puis le contenu des formations initiales d'autre part ont été étudiés. Ainsi les contenus théorique et pratique des formations de quatre universités : celle de Rennes en France, celle de Turku en Finlande ainsi que deux universités madrilènes : une publique l'Universidad Complutense et une privée l'Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio ont été analysées puis comparées. Cette analyse met en évidence des points de convergence dans le contenu et la structure des curricula, notamment en matière d'enseignements théoriques et d'apprentissage préclinique même s'il existe des disparités concernant les volumes horaires. Cependant, des points de divergence persistent concernant le statut des structures d'enseignement, le coût de la formation, les fonctionnements des centres de soins et les spécialités. Cette étude permet surtout de mettre en relief l'interaction qui existe entre un contexte socio-économique et une approche de l'enseignement. Elle souligne les conséquences et les profondes mutations qu'engendrent un système éducatif déréglementé combiné à une démographie professionnelle disproportionnée sur l'exercice des chirurgiens-dentistes.
