Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings provide methods, techniques, different mathematical tools and recent results in the study of formal and analytic solutions to Diff. (differential, partial differential, difference, q-difference, q-difference-differential.... ) Equations. They consist of selected contributions from the conference "Formal and Analytic Solutions of Diff. Equations", held at Alcalá de Henares, Spain during September 4-8, 2017. Their topics include summability and asymptotic study of both ordinary and partial differential equations. The volume is divided into four parts. The first paper is a survey of the elements of nonlinear analysis. It describes the algorithms to obtain asymptotic expansion of solutions of nonlinear algebraic, ordinary differential, partial differential equations, and of systems of such equations. Five works on formal and analytic solutions of PDEs are followed by five papers on the study of solutions of ODEs. The proceedings conclude with five works on related topics, generalizations and applications. All contributions have been peer reviewed by anonymous referees chosen among the experts on the subject. The volume will be of interest to graduate students and researchers in theoretical and applied mathematics, physics and engineering seeking an overview of the recent trends in the theory of formal and analytic solutions of functional (differential, partial differential, difference, q-difference, q-difference-differential) equations in the complex domain.

Book Differential and Difference Equations

Download or read book Differential and Difference Equations written by Leonard C. Maximon and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-04-18 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, intended for researchers and graduate students in physics, applied mathematics and engineering, presents a detailed comparison of the important methods of solution for linear differential and difference equations - variation of constants, reduction of order, Laplace transforms and generating functions - bringing out the similarities as well as the significant differences in the respective analyses. Equations of arbitrary order are studied, followed by a detailed analysis for equations of first and second order. Equations with polynomial coefficients are considered and explicit solutions for equations with linear coefficients are given, showing significant differences in the functional form of solutions of differential equations from those of difference equations. An alternative method of solution involving transformation of both the dependent and independent variables is given for both differential and difference equations. A comprehensive, detailed treatment of Green’s functions and the associated initial and boundary conditions is presented for differential and difference equations of both arbitrary and second order. A dictionary of difference equations with polynomial coefficients provides a unique compilation of second order difference equations obeyed by the special functions of mathematical physics. Appendices augmenting the text include, in particular, a proof of Cramer’s rule, a detailed consideration of the role of the superposition principal in the Green’s function, and a derivation of the inverse of Laplace transforms and generating functions of particular use in the solution of second order linear differential and difference equations with linear coefficients.

Book Difference Equations Second Edition

Download or read book Difference Equations Second Edition written by R Mickens and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1991-01-01 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the study of difference equations has acquired a new significance, due in large part to their use in the formulation and analysis of discrete-time systems, the numerical integration of differential equations by finite-difference schemes, and the study of deterministic chaos. The second edition of Difference Equations: Theory and Applications provides a thorough listing of all major theorems along with proofs. The text treats the case of first-order difference equations in detail, using both analytical and geometrical methods. Both ordinary and partial difference equations are considered, along with a variety of special nonlinear forms for which exact solutions can be determined. Numerous worked examples and problems allow readers to fully understand the material in the text. They also give possible generalization of the theorems and application models. The text's expanded coverage of application helps readers appreciate the benefits of using difference equations in the modeling and analysis of "realistic" problems from a broad range of fields. The second edition presents, analyzes, and discusses a large number of applications from the mathematical, biological, physical, and social sciences. Discussions on perturbation methods and difference equation models of differential equation models of differential equations represent contributions by the author to the research literature. Reference to original literature show how the elementary models of the book can be extended to more realistic situations. Difference Equations, Second Edition gives readers a background in discrete mathematics that many workers in science-oriented industries need as part of their general scientific knowledge. With its minimal mathematical background requirements of general algebra and calculus, this unique volume will be used extensively by students and professional in science and technology, in areas such as applied mathematics, control theory, population science, economics, and electronic circuits, especially discrete signal processing.

Book Advanced Methods for the Solution of Differential Equations

Download or read book Advanced Methods for the Solution of Differential Equations written by Marvin E. Goldstein and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based on a course presented at the Lewis Research Center for engineers and scientists who were interested in increasing their knowledge of differential equations. Those results which can actually be used to solve equations are therefore emphasized; and detailed proofs of theorems are, for the most part, omitted. However, the conclusions of the theorems are stated in a precise manner, and enough references are given so that the interested reader can find the steps of the proofs.

Book Analytic Algebraic and Geometric Aspects of Differential Equations

Download or read book Analytic Algebraic and Geometric Aspects of Differential Equations written by Galina Filipuk and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2017-06-23 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume consists of invited lecture notes, survey papers and original research papers from the AAGADE school and conference held in Będlewo, Poland in September 2015. The contributions provide an overview of the current level of interaction between algebra, geometry and analysis and demonstrate the manifold aspects of the theory of ordinary and partial differential equations, while also pointing out the highly fruitful interrelations between those aspects. These interactions continue to yield new developments, not only in the theory of differential equations but also in several related areas of mathematics and physics such as differential geometry, representation theory, number theory and mathematical physics. The main goal of the volume is to introduce basic concepts, techniques, detailed and illustrative examples and theorems (in a manner suitable for non-specialists), and to present recent developments in the field, together with open problems for more advanced and experienced readers. It will be of interest to graduate students, early-career researchers and specialists in analysis, geometry, algebra and related areas, as well as anyone interested in learning new methods and techniques.
