This is an increase of percent over the winter acreage sown for the 1936 crop and is about 4 percent above the average for 1931-1985. The second estimate of the wheat acreage in the Punjab, India, is placed at acres, which is a slight increase over the January estimate and compared with the second estimate last season of acres and the final figure of acres. The first official estimate of the 1936 wheat crop of Italy is reported by the International Institute of Agriculture at bushels. This compares with bushels produced in 1935 and is 11 percent under the average of 1980 l954. The 1956 rye crop amounted to bushels as against bushels produced in 1986 and the average for 1930-1984 of bushels. From 1909 to 1928 almost 90 percent of the imports of oranges were received from Spain. In the next 5 years, 1924-1928, imports began to arrive in volume from South Africa and Palestine. Brazil and the United States were added as important sources of supply in the 5 - year period, 1929 - 1933. The total imports of oranges in the 5-year period 1909-1913 amounted to boxes against boxes in the 5-year period 1929-1938. Present indications point to larger exports of blueberries from Newfoundland in 1937-38, according to a report from Consul General Harold B. Quarten at St. John's. The quantity harvested depends chiefly on the weather during the picking season, the availability of labor, and the price of blueberries in the United States. Exports of blueberries were valued at in 1936 against in 1985. Most of the exports go to the United States in the form of frozen berries.
