Book Poems to Rebecca

Download or read book Poems to Rebecca written by Dominic A. Bain and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2008-12 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poems to Rebecca, "A Father's Heart Exposed" is a book of poetry that speaks of a father's struggle to establish and maintain a relationship with his daughter through life's bitter circumstances. The author recants happenings in the development of his daughter's life from birth to age seven. He speaks to the injustices that he and other Bahamian fathers face as a result of a dispassionate justice system. The poems in this collection highlight the author's fears and concerns regarding his role as father; and through sheer determination, love outweighed the law as the season of longsuffering turned to joy. The author outlines the expectations he has for his daughter as she journeys through adolescence to womanhood. He hopes that the legacy he has deposited in these poems will be passed on to upcoming generations. Parents will love this book, especially the latter poems which highlight the period during and after, when Rebecca lived with her father. Readers will find that the advice contained within this book will serve as a solid foundation in the development of any child, whether male or female.

Book For The Sake of My Sanity

Download or read book For The Sake of My Sanity written by Yvonne White and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2023-06-15 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Speaking the truth of life realities, having internal showers. As a child of God, sometimes we think we can run away from our personal pain. Some of us get distracted with helping everyone else, while sinking in deep despair, silently going insane even though no one really knows but then something happened like the death of your children and you find yourself standing at the brink of insanity, too weak to pull yourself from the edge. As a single mother, left with the charge of being the bread winner, protector, councilor, to give guidance and emotional support to your children even though you find yourself trapped in the body of a child, dealing with traumas from the past. When you hit rock bottom, you hit it hard, either you will sink or swim. It is not a shame to fall, when you fall there is nowhere else to go, but up. So my writing is like my personal shrink, which allows me to maintain my sanity in the era of Covid-19, the social unrest that came about with George Floyd’s death and the tension you feel as an immigrant and the war for mask wearing ‘to mask or not to mask’ ‘to vaccine or not to vaccine’. Then suddenly everything changed when I got a phone call from Jamaica said my son died in a car accident because someone ran the red light while he was on his way to work. It made me feel like someone shot me in the heart, leaving me paralyzed with a permanent hole in my heart. Just when I felt like I was coming to grips of losing my first child who passed away in 2018, God is helping me to deal with the pain by using me to help someone else to bear their pain. I write to stay sane.

Anxiety, fuzzy-brain, fatigue, and headaches are only some of the symptoms plaguing menopausal women. With such menacing symptoms, concentration on long, drawn out Bible Studies is often impossible. Each devotion is designed to help women cope spiritually and emotionally with daily hormonal fluctuations and distractions. Women struggling with severe hormonal imbalances often struggle with deciphering the right or wrong of their emotions. Even when they know the right or wrong, their extreme emotional state makes it difficult to always choose God’s way Everything women need to persevere through menopause is provided through the power of the Holy Spirit, and it is imperative that women learn how to launch a counter attack against their fleshly emotions. For Sanity’s Sake provides that added spiritual boost needed to fight and ultimately win each daily battle. Through personal experiences, experiences of other women (and men), and Bible characters, this devotional helps women come to a realization that they are not alone in their menopausal struggles and that the best years of their lives are yet to come.

Young showcases his desire to illuminate dark truths by bringing his raw life experiences to the forefront of his creative nature. He details the complexities of blackness, childrearing, love, and sense of self by embracing grey areas that cannot be categorized by the dualism of right and wrong. The approach to this body of work centers on presenting the entire truth no matter how traumatic or enjoyable. Book Sanity Madness Transformation

Download or read book Sanity Madness Transformation written by Ross Greig Woodman and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2005-01-01 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Sanity, Madness, Transformation, Ross Woodman offers an extended reflection on the relationship between sanity and madness in Romantic literature. Woodman is one of the field's most distinguished authorities on psychoanalysis and romanticism. Engaging with the works of Northrop Frye, Jacques Derrida, Sigmund Freud, and Carl Jung, he argues that madness is essential to the writings of William Blake, William Wordsworth, and Percy Shelley, and that it has been likewise fundamental to the emergence of the modern subject in psychoanalysis and literary theory. For Frye, madness threatens humanism, whereas for Derrida its relationship is more complex, and more productive. Both approaches are informed by Freudian and Jungian responses to the psyche, which, in turn, are drawn from an earlier Romantic ambivalence about madness. This work, which began as a collection of Woodman's essays assembled by colleague Joel Faflak, quickly evolved into a new book that approached Romanticism from an original psychoanalytic perspective by returning madness to its proper place in the creative psyche. Sanity, Madness, Transformation is a provocative hybrid of theory, literary criticism, and autobiography and is yet another decisive step in a distinguished academic career.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1941 under the title Mask of Sanity: An Attempt to Clarify Some Issues About the So-Called Psychopathic Personality, this influential book became a landmark in psychiatric case studies and was repeatedly revised, expanded and reprinted in subsequent editions—here we present the 3rd edition published in 1955. The Mask of Sanity is distinguished by its central thesis that the psychopath exhibits normal function according to standard psychiatric criteria, yet privately engages in destructive behavior. The book was intended to assist with detection and diagnosis of the elusive psychopath for purposes of palliation and offered no cure for the condition itself. The idea of a master deceiver secretly possessed of no moral or ethical restraints, yet behaving in public with excellent function, electrified American society and led to heightened interest in both psychological introspection and the detection of hidden psychopaths in society at large, leading to a refinement of the word itself into what was perceived to be a less stigmatizing term, “sociopath”.
