Book excerpt: Excerpt from Florida Vegetable Crops, Vol. 7: Annual Statistical Summary, 1951; Acreage, Production and Value, Carlot Shipments, Production Costs This publication is the 7th in a series of statistical summaries on Florida vegetable crops. It is the purpose of this publication to present a summary of the many reports that were issued currently during the season, together with historical data for comparative purposes. This presentation, with its six preceeding volumes, was made possible through the joint efforts of the Bureau of Agricultural Economics, U. S. Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural Economics Depart ment of the Agricultural Experiment Stations, University of Florida. Through this cooperative agreement it has been possible to expand the statistical coverage of the Department to include county production and production costs in spec ified areas. Shipment data is again presented, most of which is traced to its county of origin. Per acre cost of pro duction and returns were made by A. H. Spurlock, Associate Economist and Tallmadge Bergen, Assistant Economist of the University of Florida Agri cultural Experiment Stations. Donald L. Brooke, who has made this study for Volumes III VI, is out of State on a leave of absence. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
