Download or read book Nondestructive Evaluation written by Don E. Bray and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1996-12-12 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nondestructive evaluation (NDE) inspection schemes are important in design, manufacturing, and maintenance. By correctly applying techniques of NDE, we can reduce machine and system failures and increase reliability of operating systems over an extended lifetime. Nondestructive Evaluation: A Tool in Design, Manufacturing, and Service introduces and discusses primary techniques used in the field, including ultrasonics, acoustic emission, magnetics, radiography, penetrants, and eddy currents. Examples of each of these techniques are included, demonstrating typical applications.
Download or read book Handbook on Radiation Probing Gauging Imaging and Analysis written by E.M. Hussein and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-05-05 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The need for this book arose from my teaching, engineering, and - search experience in the non-power aspects of nuclear technology. The lack of a comprehensive textbook in industrial applications of radiation frustrated my students, who had to resort to a multitude of textbooks and research publications to familiarize themselves with the fundam- tal and practical aspects of radiation technology. As an engineer, I had to acquire the design aspects of radiation devices by trial-and-error, and often by accidental reading of a precious publication. As a researcher and a supervisor of graduate students, I found that the needed literature was either hard to find, or too scattered and diverse. More than once, I discovered that what appeared to be an exciting new idea was an old concept that was tried a few decades earlier during the golden era of “Atom for Peace”. I am hoping, therefore, that this book will serve as a single comprehensive reference source in a growing field that I expect will continue to expand. This book is directed to both neophytes and experts, and is written to combine the old and the new, the basic and the advanced, the simple and the complex. It is anticipated that this book will be of help in - viving older concepts, improving and expanding existing techniques and promoting the development of new ones.
Download or read book Nondestructive Characterization of Materials X written by R.E. Green and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-03-20 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers published in these peer-reviewed proceedings represent the latest developments in nondestructive characterization of materials and were presented at the Tenth International Symposium on Nondestructive Characterization of Materials held on June 26 - 30, 2000 in Karuizawa, Japan. The symposium was held concurrently with three other symposia and one workshop. This symposium is the tenth in the series that began in 1983 and became an international meeting in 1986.The symposium started with a Plenary Lecture entitled 'Application of Non-contact Ultrasonics to Nondestrctive Characterization of Materials' by Professor R.E. Green, Jr. Various characterization methods were presented at the symposium, including ultrasonics, X-ray, eddy currents, laser, thermal wave, acoustic emission, optical fibers, optics, magnetics and ultrasonic microscope. Thin films and coatings as well as smart materials were also emphasized in this symposium.
Download or read book Guidebook for Radiography written by Paresh R. Vaidya and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-12-05 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a complete and compact manual on the radiographic testing. It covers every aspect of the test method including radiation safety and its modern techniques. It is specifically designed as a quick guide and reference manual for field engineers. There are chapters on basic physics of radiation, radiographic equipment, radiographic film and screen, radiography application and techniques, among others. The contents also include pedagogical features such as end-of-chapter numerical problems and chapters on ‘How to write Procedure for Testing’ and ‘How to write Instructions for Testing’ which are practical tips that are not found in standard textbooks. This book is a useful resource for professionals and researchers in the areas of radiography and radiometry.

This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 635 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High Speed Pulse Technology, Volume 1: Capacitor Discharges - Magnetohydrodynamics - X-Rays - Ultrasonics deals with the theoretical and engineering problems that arise in the capacitor discharge technique. This book discusses the characteristics of dielectric material, symmetrical switch tubes with mercury filling, and compensation conductor forms. The transformed discharge for highest current peaks, ignition transformer for internal combustion engines, and X-ray irradiation of subjects in mechanical motion are also elaborated. This text likewise covers the transformed capacitor discharge in welding engineering, application of strong magnetic shock fields in nuclear physics, and shock sound by underwater capacitor discharges. Other topics include the shaping metals by electrical explosion shock wave and electro-erosion machining of metals. This volume is recommended for electrical engineering and physics students.
