This book was released on 2014-09-18 with total page 1225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents papers from the International Gear Conference 2014, held in Lyon, 26th-28th August 2014. Mechanical transmission components such as gears, rolling element bearings, CVTs, belts and chains are present in every industrial sector and over recent years, increasing competitive pressure and environmental concerns have provided an impetus for cleaner, more efficient and quieter units. Moreover, the emergence of relatively new applications such as wind turbines, hybrid transmissions and jet engines has led to even more severe constraints. The main objective of this conference is to provide a forum for the most recent advances, addressing the challenges in modern mechanical transmissions. The conference proceedings address all aspects of gear and power transmission technology and range of applications (aerospace, automotive, wind turbine, and others) including topical issues such as power losses and efficiency, gear vibrations and noise, lubrication, contact failures, tribo-dynamics and nano transmissions. - A truly international contribution with more than 120 papers from all over the world - A judicious balance between fundamental research and industrial concerns - Participation of the most respected international experts in the field of gearing - A wide range of applications in terms of size, power, speed, and industrial sector

Download or read book VIBRATION AND NOISE REDUCTION IN PLANETARY GEAR TRAIN BY PHASING written by Ashutosh Mokate and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2016-03-10 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gears are essential parts of many precision power transmitting machines such as automobiles. The major functions of a gearbox are to transform speed and torque in a given ratio and to change the axis of rotation. Planetary gears yield several advantages over conventional parallel shaft gear systems: They produce high speed reductions in compact spaces, a greater load sharing, a higher torque to weight ratio, diminished bearing loads, and reduced noise and vibration. They are used in automobiles, helicopters, aircraft engines, heavy machinery, and a variety of other applications. Despite their advantages, the noise induced by the vibration of planetary gear systems remains a key concern. Planetary gears have received considerably less research attention than single mesh gear pairs. There is a particular scarcity of analysis of two planetary gear systems and their dynamic response. Hence, this book focuses on the study of two PGTs with different phasing (angular positions) while every individual set remains unchanged.
Download or read book Analysis and Design of Machine Elements written by Wei Jiang and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-01-30 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Incorporating Chinese, European, and International standards and units of measurement, this book presents a classic subject in an up-to-date manner with a strong emphasis on failure analysis and prevention-based machine element design. It presents concepts, principles, data, analyses, procedures, and decision-making techniques necessary to design safe, efficient, and workable machine elements. Design-centric and focused, the book will help students develop the ability to conceptualize designs from written requirements and to translate these design concepts into models and detailed manufacturing drawings. Presents a consistent approach to the design of different machine elements from failure analysis through strength analysis and structural design, which facilitates students’ understanding, learning, and integration of analysis with design Fundamental theoretical topics such as mechanics, friction, wear and lubrication, and fluid mechanics are embedded in each chapter to illustrate design in practice Includes examples, exercises, review questions, design and practice problems, and CAD examples in each self-contained chapter to enhance learning Analysis and Design of Machine Elements is a design-centric textbook for advanced undergraduates majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Advanced students and engineers specializing in product design, vehicle engineering, power machinery, and engineering will also find it a useful reference and practical guide.
Download or read book Gear Materials Properties and Manufacture written by Joseph R. Davis and published by ASM International. This book was released on 2005 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All of the critical technical aspects of gear materials technology are addressed in this new reference work. Gear Materials, Properties, and Manufacture is intended for gear metallurgists and materials specialists, manufacturing engineers, lubrication technologists, and analysts concerned with gear failures who seek a better understanding of gear performance and gear life. This volume complements other gear texts that emphasize the design, geometry, and theory of gears. The coverage begins with an overview of the various types of gears used, important gear terminology, applied stresses and strength requirements associated with gears, and lubrication and wear. This is followed by in-depth treatment of metallic (ferrous and nonferrous alloys) and plastic gear materials. Emphasis is on the properties of carburized steels, the material of choice for high-performance power transmission gearing.

Download or read book Contact Mechanics written by K. L. Johnson and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1987-08-28 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This treatise is concerned with the stresses and deformation of solid bodies in contact with each other, along curved surfaces which touch initially at a point or along a line. Examples are a railway wheel and rail, or a pair of gear wheel teeth. Professor Johnson first reviews the development of the theory of contact stresses since the problem was originally addressed by H. Hertz in 1882. Next he discusses the influence of friction and the topographical roughness of surfaces, and this is incorporated into the theory of contact mechanics. An important feature is the treatment of bodies which deform plastically or viscoelastically. In addition to stationary contact, an appreciable section of the book is concerned with bodies which are in sliding or rolling contact, or which collide.
