Download or read book The NBS Alloy Data Center written by Gesina C. Carter and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Alloy Data Center, part of the National Standard Reference Data System, has two primary functions. One is to stimulate cooperation and coordination among the existing data centers in the area of the physical properties of well characterized alloys. The final data generated by these centers for publication should be consistent with one another where correlation or possible overlap exists. The other purpose is the collection (from publications as well as private communications), evaluation, and publication of data in some areas where special competence exists in the Alloy Physics Section. Of interest to the center are metals, semimetals, intermetallic compounds, and alloys. Excluded are those materials which have ill-defined constitutions and heat treatments. An automated system was developed to meet the bibliographic needs of the center. This system will be described as well as the specific properties of interest. The system presently contains a complete annotated file dealing with NMR Knight shift measurements. The soft X-ray spectroscopy compilation is being kept up-to-date with the same system. (Author).

Download or read book The NBS Alloy Data Center Permuted Materials Index written by Institute for Materials Research (U.S.) and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 704 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Index contains literature references to -- 10,000 research papers on physical properties of metals and alloys. The Index contains all NMR Knight shift papers and soft x-ray emission papers. It also contains many soft x-ray absorption papers and a number of papers on generally related topics such as susceptibilities, specific heats, hyperfine fields, and band structures. The papers are annotated in depth and the coded information put onto a magnetic tape. The Permuted Materials Index was created from this tape, listing alloys under each of their constituent components (i.e., CuNi appears under CuNi and under NiCu alloys).
Download or read book A Guide to Materials Characterization and Chemical Analysis written by John P. Sibilia and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1996-12-17 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written both for the novice and for the experienced scientist, this miniature encyclopedia concisely describes over one hundred materials methodologies, including evaluation, chemical analysis, and physical testing techniques. Each technique is presented in terms of its use, sample requirements, and the engineering principles behind its methodology. Real life industrial and academic applications are also described to give the reader an understanding of the significance and utilization of technique. There is also a discussion of the limitations of each technique.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The textbook itself is the culmination of the authors' many years of teaching and research in atomic physics, nuclear and particle physics, and modern physics. It is also a crystallization of their intense passion and strong interest in the history of physics and the philosophy of science. Together with the solution manual which presents solutions to many end-of-chapter problems in the textbook, they are a valuable resource to the instructors and students working in the modern atomic field."--Publisher's website.
Download or read book Spectroscopy in Inorganic Chemistry V1 written by C.N.R. Rao and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spectroscopy in Inorganic Chemistry, Volume I describes the innovations in various spectroscopic methods that are particularly effective in inorganic chemistry studies. This volume contains nine chapters; each chapter discusses a specific spectroscopic method, their fundamental principles, methods, instrumentation, advantages disadvantages, and application. Chapter 1 covers some of the general principles and experiments that have been used in the recording and interpretation of crystal spectra of molecules that contain transition-metal ions. Chapter 2 illustrates the application of spectroscopic techniques to the photochemistry of small inorganic molecules, non-transition-metal compounds, and transition-metal complexes. The remaining chapters examine several spectroscopic methods, such as matrix isolation, mass, soft X-ray, and Mössbauer spectroscopies, high-resolution NMR, and nuclear quadrupole resonance, with a particular emphasis on their effective application in inorganic chemistry studies. This book will be of great benefit to inorganic chemists, spectroscopists, and inorganic chemistry teachers and students.
Download or read book Atomic Physics written by Paul Ewart and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2019-02-28 with total page 101 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Atomic Physics provides a concise treatment of atomic physics and a basis to prepare for work in other disciplines that are underpinned by atomic physics such as chemistry, biology and several aspects of engineering science. The focus is mainly on atomic structure since this is what is primarily responsible for the physical properties of atoms. After a brief introduction to some basic concepts, the perturbation theory approach follows the hierarchy of interactions starting with the largest. The other interactions of spin, and angular momentum of the outermost electrons with each other, the nucleus and external magnetic fields are treated in order of descending strength. A spectroscopic perspective is generally taken by relating the observations of atomic radiation emitted or absorbed to the internal energy levels involved. X-ray spectra are then discussed in relation to the energy levels of the innermost electrons. Finally, a brief description is given of some modern, laser based, spectroscopic methods for the high resolution study of the nest details of atomic structure.

Download or read book Quantum Physics written by J Manners and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-06-01 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum Physics: An Introduction guides you through the profound revolution in scientific thinking that overthrew classical physics in favor of quantum physics. The book discusses the basic ideas of quantum physics and explains its power in predicting the behavior of matter on the atomic scale, including the emission of light by atoms (spectra) and the operation of lasers. It also elucidates why the interpretation of quantum physics is still the subject of intense debate among scientists.
