I do not feel that I have ever thrown overboard my original cargo of merchantable critical wares; but hope that occasional interchanges and additions of stock have enriched them, and that the whole bulk has rather improved in the course of the voyage, and more than recouped its wear and tear. In my old opinions I find not much positively to recant, but several items which have changed their relative im portance in my estimation.
