Download or read book Investment In Startups And Small Business Financing written by Farhad Taghizadeh-hesary and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2021-08-03 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Successful startups and small businesses can play a significant role in economic growth and job creation. They also contribute to economic dynamism by spurring innovation and injecting competition. Startups are known to introduce new products and services that can create new value in the economy. It is notable that most startups exit within their first ten years, and most surviving young businesses do not grow but remain small. Startups and small businesses face several obstacles to their development. Accessing capital is a crucial constraint on their growth. Most startups and small businesses have difficulties getting the funds they need because of their lack of a performance track record and lack of collateral, making it difficult for lenders or investors to assess their risk. Besides, they are in the early stages of development and face a very high possibility of failure, which significantly raises financing and investment risk.Investment in Startups and Small Business Financing provides 12 thematic and case studies on new methods for bringing private investment (loans or equity) to startups and easing small businesses' access to finance (debt and capital). The contributors are senior-level policy experts and researchers from governments, think tanks, academia, and international organizations. The chapters are authored in a policy-oriented way to be understandable for the readers with a different background. This book is a precious source for the governments for adopting the right policies to develop small businesses and startups and valuable for the researchers in economics, business, and finance.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume, originally published in 1995, examines the mechanisms by which businesses that have the capacity to grow – whether in terms of output, innovation or export – acquire the cash that enables growth. Addressing an issue of central importance to the competitiveness of firms and economies, this book draws together research by leading academics in the area. This book examines the SSBCI and its implementation, including Treasury's response to initial program audits conducted by the U.S. Government Accountability Office and Treasury's Office of Inspector General. Book Entrepreneurial Finance Innovation and Development

Download or read book Entrepreneurial Finance Innovation and Development written by Vi Dung Ngo and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-11-29 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Entrepreneurship is now unanimously considered a major engine for socio-economic development, mainly because it creates jobs and innovation. Governments around the world pay special attention to removing entrepreneurial barriers in order to support development via different policies, especially entrepreneurial finance. Developing, emerging and transition economies (DETEs) significantly differ from industrialized countries because of their specific conditions: institutions, infrastructure facilities, and bureaucratic procedures within the administrative system. Thus, firms and their entrepreneurs in and from DETEs may behave differently, particularly in terms of their financial strategies. Therefore, contextualizing is critical to better understand the relationship between entrepreneurial finance, innovation, and development in DETEs. This book provides a systematic and profound understanding of how finance, entrepreneurship, innovation, and their interactions contribute to economic development in DETEs, which cover a large number of countries in Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Africa. The book mainly includes empirical studies and is divided into four parts. Part A includes four chapters which adopt a multinational approach to examine different sources and types of finance for entrepreneurship and small business in different groups of countries classified as DETEs. Part B also includes four chapters and focuses on entrepreneurial finance in specific countries belonging to the DETEs. Part C goes beyond the business scope of entrepreneurial finance and includes three chapters concerned with the relationship between finance, women's entrepreneurship, and poverty. Part D includes three chapters focusing on the comparison within developing countries as well as between developing and developed countries. This essential and comprehensive resource will find an audience amongst academics, students, educators, and practitioners, as well as policymakers and regulators.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 2008 economic crisis, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have faced serious financial problems and have been looking to financial institutions and governments for solutions and new proposals to address these issues. This book examines the new challenge in which firms receive sustainable funding that is in alignment with the company’s spending capacity. The purpose of this book is to examine the main theoretical issues and practices regarding entrepreneurship and finance and their impact on performance, innovation and economic growth. It analyzes the fundamental aspects of entrepreneurship and studies ways in which financial institutions can better fulfill their primary function of feeding capital to businesses and the economy as a whole. Entrepreneurship and finance are fundamental to achieving success in economic and social activities. SMEs’ existence and development depend on the initiatives of entrepreneurship and access to resources, especially those of a financial nature. During the recent economic crisis, several new financing instruments have appeared, especially with structures designed for helping SMEs make their way out of the recession. This book explores some of these tools in various global economies, such as France and Spain, providing an international, multidimensional perspective.

Book Advances in Small Business Finance

Download or read book Advances in Small Business Finance written by Rassoul Yazdipour and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Small business research is becoming more sophisticated as an increasing number of scholars study more complex analytical issues. In many cases research pertaining to the small firm is part of the incomplete and inefficient markets controversy in the finance literature. Because of their size and traditional organizational form, small firms often find it extremely difficult to attract significant resources in sophisticated financial markets. These markets appear to be segmented and incomplete; whether or not the markets are efficient is subject to much debate. Adyances in Small Business Finance presents a variety of research studies that indicate the unique roles of debt and equity and the sources of funds for small firms. This book contributes important insight into major questions that face small finns' financiers, managers, and owners on a daily basis. Many of the studies in this volume deal with aspects of valuation of the small firm. In some instances, the focus is on the firm's ability to attract debt or equity and in others the emphasis is on valuation of the small firm's capital. Constand, Osteryoung, and Nast focus on the determinants of capital structure for small firms that are privately owned and are highly dependent on commercial loans as their supply of debt. Timothy Bates examines firm viability and finds that surviving firms are those that began with greater initial capital, create new jobs, and are led by entrepreneurs who are better educated.
