Book excerpt: TRIGGER WARNING: This book contains graphic and frankly violent scenes, including rape, physical and emotional violence, animal abuse, and psychological turmoil. Please don't take this warning lightly. It's brutal at times and I don't want anyone to be harmed from the words I've written. If you or someone you know needs help, please know you're worth it! National Abuse Hotline 800-799-SAFEI find myself in a dark alley with the dickhead that tried hitting on me in a bar, beating the ever loving shit out of me. Why you ask? Well, when he grabbed me inappropriately and without my permission I kind of lost it and may or may not have but definitely did, emasculate him in front of all his friends in the bar, and everyone else. Thinking that was end of it I moved on, clearly, he didn't as my current situation proves. From there a tattooed man scares him off and gets me to help. Little do I know him and his friends are going to become a permanent part of my life, helping me heal both mentally and physically. Kyle, Flynn, Owen, Silas, and Heath all stand next to me helping with my issues and keeping me safe as I work through things from my past that pop up from this recent attack. When it turns out I have a stalker, they guys draw closer to me as we all try to navigate my crazy life. In getting to know them and spending time with them, I've come to realize I like them, all five of them. Does that make me selfish? Yep. Can we all make this work? I guess we'll see... This book contains some cliffhangers, not all plots get resolved in this book. It is reverse harem where the heroine ends ups with at least three of the guys.

Book excerpt: 'Lottie Parker is one of the most compelling characters in Irish detective fiction' LIZ NUGENT, bestselling author of Our Little Cruelties She shivered, though the kitchen was warm. Icicles of foreboding trickled down her spine. With trembling hands she whipped back her hair at the nape of her neck. As she turned away from the window, she missed the shadow passing by. One dark winter morning, bride-to-be Cara Dunne is found hanging in her home, dressed in her wedding dress, with a lock of hair removed. Detective Lottie Parker is first on the scene. Looking at Cara's bruised and battered body, she wonders who could have hated her enough to kill her at the happiest time of her life. The case takes a darker turn that afternoon with another shocking discovery; the broken body of a second young woman, pushed from the roof of the hospital where she worked. Fiona Heffernan was also due to be married, and her body is clad in a wedding dress, a lock of her hair cut off. The killings seem so personal that Lottie is convinced the girls have been killed by someone they knew. When she goes to break the news to Fiona's family, she's on the alert for anything suspicious. But then she makes a discovery that causes her blood to run cold; Fiona's eight-year-old daughter Lily didn't return home from her dance recital that afternoon. Terrified that Lily will be the next victim of a twisted and dangerous individual, Lottie takes the case into her own hands, risking her life when she comes face-to-face with the killer. Book excerpt: Dyothelemic Christianity is based in the Christian theology of Dyo-thelitism, and advocates the importance of realigning the human will with divine will. This is done in the image of the perfection of this universal principle as depicted by traditional Christian theology. Jesus Christ is seen as the perfection of this universal principle, and He is seen as a model of perfection that one should seek alignment with. Along with the theory involved in this concept I am introducing an adapted Jewish mystical doctrine and system as a tool to help understand both the nature of this theology and human self. Through Jewish internal meditational science I am introducing a comprehensive new approach to both Christianity and realignment with the divine, as well as a four-fold completion of Christian Theological doctrine that will help harmonize all the principles involved in this text. Dyothelemic Christianity is based on the scientific theory that there exists a universal divine order and will and the through alignment of the human will with divine will, the human self is united with the divine Self as a harmony of natures and wills. Thus Christ means one person, one hypostasis, two harmonious non-contrary natures and two harmonious non-contrary wills.

Book excerpt: We sometimes lose ourselves within the chapters of our stories. We let the light fade into darkness, as our memories try to ruin us. We're the broken ones. We're the ones who feel too much and fall a little harder. There will always be a certain beauty to sadness that most of us avoid. It's part of being human. It's part of who we are in our entirety. We keep thinking, and we keep thinking until we overthink. We're reminded of the pain of being and the love that slipped between our fingers. These are the broken pages that we go through, as we live without a sense of purpose. This is poetic prose for the broken soul. This is for you. The mind of an overthinker is somewhat crowded yet poetic. Broken Pages aims to hurt and heal the reader, as they're given a glimpse of what it means to be human.

Book The Way Forward Is with a Broken Heart

Download or read book The Way Forward Is with a Broken Heart written by Alice Walker and published by Ballantine Books. This book was released on 2012-02-01 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "These are the stories that came to me to be told after the close of a magical marriage to an extraordinary man that ended in a less-than-magical divorce. I found myself unmoored, unmated, ungrounded in a way that challenged everything I'd ever thought about human relationships. Situated squarely in that terrifying paradise called freedom, precipitously out on so many emotional limbs, it was as if I had been born; and in fact I was being reborn as the woman I was to become." So says Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alice Walker about her beautiful new book, in which "one of the best American writers today" (The Washington Post) gives us superb stories based on rich truths from her own experience. Imbued with Walker's wise philosophy and understanding of people, the spirit, sex and love, The Way Forward Is with a Broken Heart begins with a lyrical, autobiographical story of a marriage set in the violent and volatile Deep South during the early years of the civil rights movement. Walker goes on to imagine stories that grew out of the life following that marriage—a life, she writes, that was "marked by deep sea-changes and transitions." These provocative stories showcase Walker's hard-won knowledge of love of many kinds and of the relationships that shape our lives, as well as her infectious sense of humor and joy. Filled with wonder at the power of the life force and of the capacity of human beings to move through love and loss and healing to love again, The Way Forward Is with a Broken Heart is an enriching, passionate book by "a lavishly gifted writer" (The New York Times Book Review).

Book Taste Your Emotions

Download or read book Taste Your Emotions written by Damien Marie AtHope and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2006-01-23 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Taste Your Emotions ~unplugged~ This is the second revised and expanded version of the earlier work Taste Your Emotions a book containing poems only each telling a story of the struggle for physical, emotional, and spiritual sobriety. The poems inside this book express a variety of emotions taking you through an experience from deep pain to the joy of emotional freedom. Attempting to balance between a short memoir written in a creative way, self-help book of sorts, as well as grouped enlightened writing trying to lead others in embarking of self freedom. Thus this book is simply not a book of poems and writings it is a dark journey of pain, confusion and addiction leading to a bright awakening of the heart and mind. The poems and writing are both heavy, raw, thought provoking, even forceful in there convictions at times and they are also light and touching in there innocence at other times, culminating in a moving expression of strength and determination. You will not just read these poems and writings you will experience them think about them, be moved by them and maybe if I am lucky even be some what changed by them. What was changed from the first edition was some poems of lesser relevance where removed. More back ground to the author his life and experiences behind the poems was added which makes the read much richer and deeply connecting. Likewise there is added writing on the thinking and philosophies which brought about his ever evolving and life enriching change. One mantra he lives by now which he created is: KNOW yourself, LOVE yourself, & BE yourself. Comments from Past readers: Well-organized and powerful/life-affirming works ~ Chris Massey A compilation of life's struggles and victories ~ Timothy Talosi Fascinating Read ~ Pat Sturt The poems are very emotional, touching to the heart ~ Tonya Graham The title is right on. As I read this book I experienced deep feelings and emotions. Most books don't touch my soul the way this one does ~ Becky Sedgwick

Book Memoir of a Broken Brain

Download or read book Memoir of a Broken Brain written by Kimberly Faye and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2011-11-23 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Journey with Kimberly through one crisis that set her up for failure and another life-altering experience that remapped her brain for success. Had the road sign read, Take a sharp right turn here and follow the path to your life-altering destiny, I would have turned and gone in another direction. The path was marked with two color-coded shapes: the green circle indicated a widely groomed, easy trail, and the blue square led to an intermediate slope. I needed the green trail that led to the lodge at the bottom of the mountain. I had taken a hard fall on the catwalk and wasnt feeling so good. To get to the trail, I needed to take a sharp right turn. The only problem was, I suddenly didnt know what right meant. I could not find my right side. Everything right was gone! Kimberly fell into her defining role and lifes purpose (quite literally) when she skied over a cliff and sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI). One day, Kimberly was a vibrant career woman who enjoyed a successful lifestyle and an active social life. The next, she had to learn basic life skills to survive. Kimberlys quest for survival sent her in search of the missing pieces of her past. She learned that survival is a multifaceted anvil that shapes our decisions and forges our future. Merely existing then becomes a double-edged sword: you may have managed to keep breathing, but are you really living? The only way for survival to triumph is to acknowledge the role of fear in the face of crisis: affirmed fear liberates; coddled fear incapacitates. Denial keeps us stuck!
