Book Filtering for Precision Pointing and Tracking with Application for Aircraft to Satellite Tracking

Download or read book Filtering for Precision Pointing and Tracking with Application for Aircraft to Satellite Tracking written by Robert B. Asher and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many aerospace problems include the requirement for precision pointing and tracking from one accelerating vehicle to another. This paper considers the use of Kalman filtering for a general class of high precision pointing and tracking applications and the application of the general framework to a specific problem. A general framework which contains all known error sources is developed for a particular Kalman filter. With a covariance sensitivity analysis, this framework can be used to determine the performance of a reduced order filter and conduct a hardware requirements analysis and trade off. In particular, the paper addresses the application of the general framework for an aircraft to satellite precision tracking problem.

Book Adaptive Filtering for Precision Pointing and Tracking Problems in Weapon Delivery

Download or read book Adaptive Filtering for Precision Pointing and Tracking Problems in Weapon Delivery written by Raymond L. Kolibaba and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Adaptive Extended Kalman Filter technique was developed to improve the tracking capabilities of an airborne tracking system. A maneuver determination technique was developed as well as an adaptive technique for the probability model of target acceleration. The computer simulation was run using four different types of data. Computation of the acceleration state was inaccurate due to imprecise modeling of the acceleration states. The adaptive technique reduced the range error of the non-adaptive filter. A maneuver was determined when a bias was detected on the range measurement residual. (Author).

Book Intelligent and Soft Computing in Infrastructure Systems Engineering

Download or read book Intelligent and Soft Computing in Infrastructure Systems Engineering written by Kasthurirangan Gopalakrishnan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-11-23 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term “soft computing” applies to variants of and combinations under the four broad categories of evolutionary computing, neural networks, fuzzy logic, and Bayesian statistics. Although each one has its separate strengths, the complem- tary nature of these techniques when used in combination (hybrid) makes them a powerful alternative for solving complex problems where conventional mat- matical methods fail. The use of intelligent and soft computing techniques in the field of geo- chanical and pavement engineering has steadily increased over the past decade owing to their ability to admit approximate reasoning, imprecision, uncertainty and partial truth. Since real-life infrastructure engineering decisions are made in ambiguous environments that require human expertise, the application of soft computing techniques has been an attractive option in pavement and geomecha- cal modeling. The objective of this carefully edited book is to highlight key recent advances made in the application of soft computing techniques in pavement and geo- chanical systems. Soft computing techniques discussed in this book include, but are not limited to: neural networks, evolutionary computing, swarm intelligence, probabilistic modeling, kernel machines, knowledge discovery and data mining, neuro-fuzzy systems and hybrid approaches. Highlighted application areas include infrastructure materials modeling, pavement analysis and design, rapid interpre- tion of nondestructive testing results, porous asphalt concrete distress modeling, model parameter identification, pavement engineering inversion problems, s- grade soils characterization, and backcalculation of pavement layer thickness and moduli.

Book Kalman Filtering Techniques for Radar Tracking

Download or read book Kalman Filtering Techniques for Radar Tracking written by K.V. Ramachandra and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-03-12 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A review of effective radar tracking filter methods and their associated digital filtering algorithms. It examines newly developed systems for eliminating the real-time execution of complete recursive Kalman filtering matrix equations that reduce tracking and update time. It also focuses on the role of tracking filters in operations of radar data processors for satellites, missiles, aircraft, ships, submarines and RPVs.

Book High Accuracy Aircraft to Satellite Tracking An Evaluation of Two Proposed Filter Models

Download or read book High Accuracy Aircraft to Satellite Tracking An Evaluation of Two Proposed Filter Models written by Robert E Mann (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study treats the high accuracy tracking of a satellite from an aircraft. The purpose is to evaluate the feasibility of several reduced order system models for implementation in an extended Kalman filter formulation whose estimates would be used to aid the tracker. The first filter model is a twelve state model in which filter estimates of the satellite inertial position and velocity are obtained and used in the estimation of the tracker states. A second, six state-model deletes these six satellite states, and tracker state estimation is accomplished by exploiting the information already available in the tracking geometry, dominant modes of satellite dynamics, and the range measurement. Tracker state estimation is accomplished in the line of sight coordinate frame for both filter formulations. A covariance analysis was performed, evaluating each filter against a 42 state truth model. The tracking profile used in the study was specifically designed to evaluate each filter's state estimation capability when faced with a highly nonlinear tracker angular rate history. It was concluded that the six state filter is a viable alternative, and, with some proposed modifications, is preferable (because of its simplicity and lower computational burden) and warrants further study. Book High Accuracy Aircraft to Satellite Tracking Using an Extended Kalman Filter

Download or read book High Accuracy Aircraft to Satellite Tracking Using an Extended Kalman Filter written by Robert A. K. Mitchell and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A 61-state truth model is developed for the aircraft to satellite tracking problem. The equations for the Extended Kalman Filter are described and the truth model is examined and simplified to give a 12-state reduced order filter model of the system. Using the method of Covariance Analysis which is described, the performance of the 12-state filter model against the 61-state truth model is evaluated with the dynamics profile of a high altitude aircraft tracking a near earth satellite in a circular polar orbit.
