Book Film Synthesized Rare Earth Transition Metal Permanent Magnet Systems

Download or read book Film Synthesized Rare Earth Transition Metal Permanent Magnet Systems written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specific results of this research include five unique results. (1) The elucidation of the concept of a growth coherence region as being pivotal for the growth of textured polycrystalline films. This concept allows the prediction of what texture modes would be possible for any new system that may be discovered. (2) For the very first time it was demonstrated that pulsed laser deposition can be used to grow highly textured high coercivity rare earth transition metal films with magnetic properties comparable to the best sputtered films. (3) It was shown that the simultaneous use of sputtering and pulsed laser deposition methods can be used to grow nanophase dispersed films with special magnetic and other properties. (4) A new type of magnetoresistive magnetic memory element operable at room temperature was demonstrated for specially deposited La-manganite films when used in conjunction with another magnetic film element. (5) A method was invented whereby particulate free films of a great many substances can be deposited by pulsed laser deposition.

Book Direct Synthesis and Optimization of Rare Earth Transition Metal Permanent Magnet Systems

Download or read book Direct Synthesis and Optimization of Rare Earth Transition Metal Permanent Magnet Systems written by F. J. Cadieu and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Special sputtering methods have been used to synthesize rare earth transition metal films such as SmCo5, Nd2Fe14B, and several new compounds in the Sm-Ti-Fe system. Films have been synthesized with different crystal textures by varying the sputtering conditions. The magnetic properties observed have been found to be strongly dependent on the film texture. For example, SmCo5 films with a (200) texture exhibit intrinsic coercive forces, of 8 kOe, while (110) textured films show values of about 18 kOe. For the Nd2Fe14B compound films have been made which exhibit an easy axis of magnetization either in the film plane or out of the flm plane depending upon the crystal texturing of the films. In the film plane static energy products up to 21 MG-Oe have been observed in as sputtered films without any subsequent heat treatments in certain rare earth transition metal systems. For films containing only Sm, Ti, and Fe room temperature coercive force values up to 24 kOe have been observed. Films have also been made such that the magnetic properties are highly anisotropic in the plane of the film for certain amorphous systems. The incorporation of the coercive force magnetic films that have been sputter synthesized into several types of micron scale device geometries has been considered.

Book Systematics of Permanent Magnet Film Texturing and the Limits of Film Synthesized 1 12 and 2 17 Iron Based Rare Earth Transition Metal Permanent Systems

Download or read book Systematics of Permanent Magnet Film Texturing and the Limits of Film Synthesized 1 12 and 2 17 Iron Based Rare Earth Transition Metal Permanent Systems written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This grant was concerned with the optimization of both the magnetic properties of new rare earth transition metal permanent magnet phases, and of the film synthesis methods which have been used to synthesize high energy product film magnets and structures. High energy product permanent magnet sputtered films were synthesized onto polycrystalline substrates that either have the easy direction of magnetization in the film plane or perpendicular to the film plane. In-plane magnetized Sm-Co films were synthesized with 16-18 MGOe energy products. Other perpendicular anisotropy tetragonal Nd(Fe, Co, Mo)12N films were made with a room temperature energy product of 46.3 MGOe. The systematics of sputter process control used to grow textured permanent magnet films were elaborated in several publications. A key aspect of this work was the elucidation of surface atom mobility in controlling film texture. In recent studies that are still in progress pulsed laser deposition, PLD, was used to grow high coercivity SmCo based films. Room temperature coercivities up to 11.3 kOe have been achieved for PLD deposited films.

Download or read book Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Alloys High Temperature Phase Transformation written by Shuming Pan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The process of high temperature phase transition of rare earth permanent-magnet alloys is revealed by photographs taken by high voltage TEM. The relationship between the formation of nanocrystal and magnetic properties is discussed in detail, which effects alloys composition and preparation process. The experiment results verified some presumptions, and were valuable for subsequent scientific research and creating new permanent-magnet alloys. The publication is intended for researchers, engineers and managers in the field of material science, metallurgy, and physics. Prof. Shuming Pan is senior engineer of Beijing General Research Institute of Non-ferrous Metal.

Download or read book Rare Earth and Transition Metal Doping of Semiconductor Materials written by Volkmar Dierolf and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2016-01-23 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rare Earth and Transition Metal Doping of Semiconductor Material explores traditional semiconductor devices that are based on control of the electron’s electric charge. This book looks at the semiconductor materials used for spintronics applications, in particular focusing on wide band-gap semiconductors doped with transition metals and rare earths. These materials are of particular commercial interest because their spin can be controlled at room temperature, a clear opposition to the most previous research on Gallium Arsenide, which allowed for control of spins at supercold temperatures. Part One of the book explains the theory of magnetism in semiconductors, while Part Two covers the growth of semiconductors for spintronics. Finally, Part Three looks at the characterization and properties of semiconductors for spintronics, with Part Four exploring the devices and the future direction of spintronics. Examines materials which are of commercial interest for producing smaller, faster, and more power-efficient computers and other devices Analyzes the theory behind magnetism in semiconductors and the growth of semiconductors for spintronics Details the properties of semiconductors for spintronics

Book Rare Earth Transition Metal Borocarbides Nitrides

Download or read book Rare Earth Transition Metal Borocarbides Nitrides written by Karl-Hartmut Müller and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains most of the contributions presented at the NATO Advanced Research Workshop on Rare Earth Transition Metal Borocarbides (Nitrides): Superconducting, Magnetic and Normal State Properties, held in Dresden, Germany at 13 - 18 June 2000. The Workshop was chaired by K. -H. MUller and V. N. Narozhnyi. This was the first meeting specially focused on the quaternary rare-earth transition-metal borocarbides and nitrides - a new class of magnetic superconductors discovered in 1994. The motivation for organizing this workshop was to bring together scientists (both experimentalists and theoreticians), actively working in this field in different countries, using different methods, to exchange their points of view on the properties ofthese materials and to recognize the directions for future research. Totally 48 participants from 17 countries ofEurope, the United States, BraZil, India, Israel and Japan took part in this meeting. In addition about 15 observers (mainly from Germany) attended. The scientific Programme of the Workshop was composed of 7 sections. The section Introduction and Overview was followed by the Electronic Structure and Properties and Phonon Spectra; Magnetic Properties and CEF Effects; Interplay between Superconductivity and Magnetism; Vortex Lattice; Thin Films; Nature of the Superconducting State in Borocarbides sections. Totally 50 presentations were given (45 ofthem in oral form). Considerable attention was devoted to the characterization of the particular place of borocarbides amongst the other magnetic and superconducting systems and, especially, magnetic superconductors.
