Book Field proven Programs for Better Public Relations

Download or read book Field proven Programs for Better Public Relations written by and published by Association of School Business Officials International. This book was released on 1980 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To help school administrators improve their communication and public relations programs, the National School Public Relations Association presented 23 mini-workshops in a special session at the 1979 annual meeting of the Association of School Business Officials. This handbook presents the "tip sheets" prepared by the 23 workshop presenters, along with each presenter's address and telephone number. The first six tip sheets, in section 1, discuss staff public relations for school business officials and the school support staff, including relations with the school board, the community, and the legislature. Section 2 looks at budget and finance issues; its six tip sheets suggest ideas about budget planning and elections, mass media, school finance law, cost increases with enrollment decreases, and business office advisory committees. The three presentations in the third section examine pupil transportation, cutbacks in transportation, and student behavior on buses. The eight tip sheets in section 4, involving public relations with students and the community, cover news releases, school and district publications, community group involvement, relations with realtors, school desegregation, energy management, and labor relations. Book The Public Relations Practitioner s Playbook

Download or read book The Public Relations Practitioner s Playbook written by M. Larry Litwin and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009 with total page 586 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Public Relations Practitioner's Playbook" is how-to and hands-on. Theory is woven into thousands of proven techniques, tips, tactics, tools and strategies spread over nearly 600 pages. Explanations, examples and anecdotes are in a language that should appeal to experienced practitioners, college students and organization volunteers who assist with public relations and publicity. "The PR Practitioner's Playbook" - an anatomy of the public relations profession - relies on my experience as a reporter, editor, public relations counselor, and strategic advisor and evaluator. It demonstrates that successful writers practice their craft with poise and eloquence. It is an extension of the author's classroom, which many students call, "Litwin's laboratory for practical knowledge." As former KYW Newsradio colleague Kim Glovas observed," Larry's voice is the voice of this book." Among those considered mentors - and contributors to this book - are Nick George, former managing editor at ABC Radio News, ABC sportscaster Howard Cosell, KYW Newsradio anchor Bill Bransome, print journalist extraordinaire Everett S. Landers and legendary broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow. They spent countless hours helping the author hone his skills and encouraging me to be an open, honest, thorough and valid (relevant) communicator. They stressed tangible tools, and such attributes as knowledge, loyalty, judgment, trust, credibility, ethics and integrity. "The Public Relations Practitioner's Playbook" serves as a basic or supplemental text in introduction to public relations and graduate overview courses. It offers a refreshing, down-to-earth approach to which many students are just not accustomed. Strategic advisors refer to it as a "potpourri of proven public relations techniques." The companion CD-Rom contains, among its many tactics, three PowerPoints(r) that summarize the 17 chapter

Book Strategic Planning for Public Relations

Download or read book Strategic Planning for Public Relations written by Ronald D. Smith and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2002 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This innovative text offers a new way of understanding public relations and other types of strategic communication. As an in-depth approach to public relations planning, it presents a step-by-step unfolding of the planning process most often used in public relations practice. Drawing from his background in practice and teaching, Ron Smith walks readers through the critical steps for the formative research, strategic and tactical planning, and plan evaluation phases of the process. Complete with clear explanations, relevant examples, and practical exercises, this text identifies and discusses the various decision points and options in the development of a communication program. Both classic public relations situations and current, timely events are presented in cases and examples throughout. Recognizing that the practice of public relations and marketing communication is becoming more strategic, this text emphasizes the process of making decisions -- not by hunches or instinct, but by solid and informed reasoning, drawing on the science of communication as well as its various art forms. The process illustrated here will be applicable to work in businesses and nonprofit organizations of all types. Assuming that effective creativity is more likely to result from careful, insightful planning than from a bolt of inspiration, Strategic Planning for Public Relations assists creative people in becoming more organized in their planning, and helps methodical people bring more creative energy to their work. Whether employed as a classroom text or as a resource for practice, this volume provides a model that can be adapted to fit specific circumstances and used to improve effectiveness and creativity in communication planning. It serves as an accessible and understandable guide to field-tested procedures that will enhance public relations practice.

Book PR Lessons Learned Along the Way

Download or read book PR Lessons Learned Along the Way written by Marc C Whitt and published by . This book was released on 2020-05-28 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PR Lessons Learned Along the Way: Strategies, Tips & Advice for the Higher Ed and Nonprofit Public Relations Professional Marc C. Whitt (Author) "I have been looking forward to the day Marc Whitt would share his wisdom in a book. Marc has always been a leader in our field, no matter his institutional or professional association role. His casual writing style makes this book a real treat to read, and I suggest you keep it on your desk for quick reference." - Larry D. Lauer, Vice Chancellor Emeritus, Texas Christian University, and Author, Advancing Higher Education in Uncertain Times "Marc Whitt's book, PR Lessons Learned Along The Way, is truly remarkable -and I say that having reviewed many PR books in my time. The advice 'Maintain a good sense of humor. It will always see you through life's ups and downs' has surely never been more apt than today, with so much bad news around us. And yet the optimism that runs through this book is precisely what we need right now, and is also precisely true. Our profession's embrace of professionalism; of constant improvement; and of strategy make it -as Whitt argues- indispensable. PR is a conversation, not a lecture. And reading this book feels exactly that -one expert having a conversation with his readers, and imparting the knowledge of decades along the way." - Francis Ingham, MPRCA, PRCA Director General, London, England "PR Lessons Learned Along The Way is a superb resource offering context and guiderails to manage nonprofit and higher education brands in a strategic and sustainable way. Marc reminds us of the inherent service orientation of our calling, the imperative of values such as leadership, integrity and urgency, the value of playing the long game, and the devil that resides in the detail of public relations work. Whether you are a communications rookie, a mid-career professional or a seasoned expert, you will come away from PR Lessons Along The Way feeling empowered and maybe even a little more in love with the craft than you were yesterday." - Morgan Roth, Senior Vice President, Communication & Marketing, The ALS Association, Washington, DC "Marc Whitt's book is an indispensable guide for all of us currently in public relations and advancement, as well as for anyone seeking to enter the field. Marc applies his many years of experience to each topic he addresses, but his tone is never condescending or 'know-it-all' - instead, he offers pragmatic advice and solutions that will help everyone from the PR newbie to the seasoned veteran."- Jeffrey T. Spoeri, Associate Vice President for University Advancement, Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas "Have you ever found yourself nodding and saying, 'Yes, yes!' while reading a book? When a writer unveils morsels of wisdom that ring true, that's what happens. In PR Lessons Learned Along the Way, Marc Whitt's observations are born out of being in the trenches, making mistakes and achieving monumental goals. Buy this book. Read it through. And when you need a pep talk or a reminder of why PR is the best profession in the world, pick it back up. You'll put it down smiling again."- Nancy Wiser, President, Wiser Strategies, APR, Fellow, PRSA, Lexington, Kentucky "If Dale Carnegie ever wanted to write a sequel to How to Win Friends and Influence People, PR Lessons Learned Along the Way would be it!." - Tom Hayes, Dean, Williams College of Business, Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Author, Marketing Colleges and Universities, A Services Perspective
