Book The Arab Israeli Conflict Transformed

Download or read book The Arab Israeli Conflict Transformed written by Hemda Ben-Yehuda and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2012-02-01 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Middle East conflict, be it between the state of Israel and Arab states or between Jews and Palestinians, is a staple of international news. Utilizing both theoretical approaches and empirical evidence, Hemda Ben-Yehuda and Shmuel Sandler argue that despite the recent upswing in violence, particularly over the Palestinian issue, conflict has gradually been giving way, since the 1970s, to a more orderly regime of conflict management. By integrating ethnonational theoretical literature into their analysis, the authors move beyond the current International Relations debate over the relative merits of realist/neo-realist approaches versus neo-liberal-institutional approaches. Ethnic-state disputes are the primary source for failing to terminate the Arab-Israeli conflict.

During that time, the country has been under immense scrutiny and been the recipient of false accusations. This leaves the public with many questions: Does Israel want peace with the Arab nations? How do Islamic views affect Israel? Using a number of sources, Mitchell G. Bard uncovers Israel's true history. His book includes the following: A discussion of various wars involving Israel (including the war of 1948) Multiple maps that help the reader visualize the wars An analysis of terrorism directed at Israel An alphabetical index A discussion of the media's role in how it portrays Israel A review of successful and unsuccessful peace efforts An overview of US-Israel relations Bard also offers a synopsis of Israel's roots, beginning with the great myth: that the Jews have no claim to their own land. Bard focuses on Israel's relationships with neighboring countries, but he also includes suggested readings for those interested in further research. You'll learn about the Jewish Virtual Library, an online source that's constantly updated and offers reliable options for study. Book The Fedayeen Emerge

Download or read book The Fedayeen Emerge written by Shaul Bartal and published by Authorhouse UK. This book was released on 2011-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The State of Israel was founded in 1948 on the ruins of Arab Palestine. Hundreds of Arab villages were destroyed and thousands of refugees found themselves homeless in the neighboring Arab states or in the districts that were left of Mandatory Palestine - the Jordanian West Bank and the Egyptian Gaza Strip. Israel started to establish its sovereignty over the areas it had captured during the war. But what of the Palestinians? They were supposedly forgotten. Through deep and extensive research this book describes the Palestinians' conflicts during the 1950's. This is the struggle of a defeated generation through its own eyes, the struggle of groups and individuals against a reality they could not accept. Their aim was to survive and restore their lives to the path cut off by the Naqba, the "disaster" of the founding of Israel. This is how the second inter-communal war was started. This war included widespread infiltration of Israel by Palestinians and large-scale Israeli retaliatory acts against them. These Palestinian protest movements succeeded in influencing Arab governments (notably Nasser's Egypt) to take anti-Israel steps. This was a movement of self-sacrifice, Fdaa, whose aim was to liberate Palestine. This volume details the various aspects of Palestinian struggle against Israel during the 1950's.
