Book Psychopharmacology of Aversively Motivated Behavior

Download or read book Psychopharmacology of Aversively Motivated Behavior written by H. Anisman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 717 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past two decades, remarkable advances have been made in psychopharmacology, resulting in increased demands for journal space (witness the large number of journals that cater primarily or exclusively to this topic). Concomitantly, a need developed for more integration of the currently available data. To this end, numerous edited volumes in psycho pharmacology have appeared which have been primarily concerned with the role of a particular drug or system in modulating a wide variety of behaviors. While such texts have been most useful in elucidating drug mechanisms and the etiology of a number of behaviors, few attempts have been made to evaluate and integrate pharmacological treatments within a single behavioral category. Specifically, the researcher interested in understanding a given behavior from a neurochemical point of view must consult several texts, each dealing with a different chemical or system. When texts are obtained covering a broad spectrum of systems, they also invariably deal with many different behaviors, thus not allowing for complete integration within a behavioral category. The present volume was planned to meet the needs of the scientist interested in understanding neurochemical mechanisms underlying aversively motivated behavior, as well as drug effects thereon. In organizing the contents of this text, it quickly became apparent that any attempt to provide a complete overview of behavioral and pharmacological information pertaining to aversive situations was not practical for at least two reasons.

Download or read book E RYRU O VA PO E ME written by PETER TASE and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-01-03 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At first glance, one might say, "Wow, what a disparate collection of languages, of what value could this dictionary be?" Well, of course the answer is, it is of value to all those who speak any of those languages individually, or any group of them. In addition, it represents for the reader, or student, or professional, or any lover of language and culture, the opportunity to see each of the cultures represented here through prism of that fundamental element upon which they rely and survive...language. As such, Peter Tase has taken another step in furthering the communication and mutual understanding so desperately needed in the world today, for which I am grateful, and pleased to be able to support. Book European Drug Index

  • Author : Niels F. Muller
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2022-03-07
  • ISBN : 1351449478
  • Pages : 776 pages

Download or read book European Drug Index written by Niels F. Muller and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2022-03-07 with total page 776 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many health care providers are frequently dealing with problems related to the identification and interpretation of medicines and prescriptions of foreign origin. Health authorities, customs and travel agencies also encounter such problems, which are related to the increasing mobility of the European population. Thus the need for a European Drug Index is obvious. The EDI provides extended information for practitioners confronted with the enormous number of drug names available on the European pharmaceutical market. This market is increasing due to the rapidly changing palette of countries and economic restrictions in Europe. The listings have been derived from drug data sources from the increased number of participating countries in this second edition. Each item starts with a trade name, in alphabetical order, followed by (depending on the original source) dosage forms, strength, volume (if applicable), and generic name(s) of the active principle(s) in a random sequence. The item is concluded by the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) classification (when made available by the original source) and a code for the country of origin.
