Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master cake artist and a man of profound faith, Jack Phillips found himself in the middle of one of the highest-profile religious freedom cases of the century. In July 2012, two men came to Jack Phillips's shop requesting a custom wedding cake celebrating their same-sex marriage. In a brief exchange, Jack politely declined the request, explaining that he could not design cakes for same-sex weddings but offered to design cakes for other occasions and to sell them anything else in his shop. Little did Jack know that his quiet stand for his Christian convictions about marriage would become a battle for the right of all Americans to live out their faith. Now, Jack Phillips shares his harrowing experience for the first time in this powerful new memoir. The Cost of My Faith is Jack’s firsthand account from the frontlines of the battle with a culture that is making every effort to remove God from the public square and a government denying Bible-believing Christians the right to freely exercise their religious beliefs. Despite a Supreme Court victory in Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, the fight to protect the right of Americans to freely exercise their beliefs is more critical than ever. The Cost of My Faith provides new insight into the case that shook the country and offers readers courage and inspiration to stand and live out their faith when facing their own battles.

Armed with tenacious self-reliance and wit, bolstered by faith and values, the young girl finds herself in a world of circumstance quite unlike that of her own. Struggling with her stirring feelings for a suitor of means and privilege, Faith is forced to confront her past, her roots, and her truest test of priority in life. Lost family members and seemingly lost hope converge to lead Faith to her most important decision. Faiths Lesson captures the readers imagination as the struggles, hopes, and dreams of a young girl and the feverish progress of her years have become a series of vignettes, as though they were a recollection of a dream. Nothing remains now of those times, save a majestic memory. As this narrative recollects, you are invited to share those memories, which until now have remained safe in the hallowed quiets of Barrows Hollow.

This book was released on 2017-06-07 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Legacy of Lessons Learned: Landstuhl Regional Medical Center During Wartime, 2001-2014: For over 25 years, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) has served as a model of “selfless service,” stepping up to the demands of a suddenly increased rate of traumatically injured service members arriving from the battlefield. From Operations Desert Storm/Desert Shield; through the attacks in Somalia, the Khobar Towers, and USS Cole; to the recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, LRMC has stood at the forefront of military healthcare, receiving our Nation’s and our partners’ wounded and ill from battlefields and contingencies across multiple theaters. From a community hospital providing routine healthcare delivery to personnel stationed in Europe and their families before 9/11, LRMC transitioned into a Level 1, triservice, integrated trauma center, providing lifesaving care to tens of thousands of evacuated service members, in addition to handling all the associated needs of these patients, from payroll assistance to chaplain services, service and unit liaison support, and veteran service organization support, as well as delivering ongoing healthcare to beneficiaries across Europe, Africa, and Asia. The goal of this text is to share the lessons learned by LRMC staff in converting from a peacetime to wartime footing, serving as a guide for US military hospitals in similar situations in the future. The innovations and solutions planned and implemented so successfully by LRMC staff will assist future military medical and line leaders in maintaining the highest quality of healthcare services for future generations of our service men and women in combat, improving upon the historically high survival rates seen in these conflicts. Book Keeping Faith with the Psalms

Download or read book Keeping Faith with the Psalms written by Daniel F. Polish, PhD and published by Turner Publishing Company. This book was released on 2011-05-03 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explore your spiritual life. Create a personal theology. Challenge and test your faith—all using the Book of Psalms. The Book of Psalms has been beloved by generations of readers. It offers solace in times of trouble, holds out hope for rescue and redemption, and helps to answer some of the difficult questions raised by faith. The Book of Psalms is more personal than other books of the Bible; instead of telling stories with God as the central actor, the psalmists talk to—and about—God. Keeping Faith with the Psalms leads you into the Bible to discover ways you can use the Psalms to shape your own personal spiritual outlook. Daniel Polish does not give any simple solutions, but reveals how you can discover answers for yourself through the Psalms. You will explore: Meeting God in Nature Finding God in Torah Finding God through the Historical Experience of the Jewish People The Problem of Evil in Our World Facing Our Mortality Finding Our Relationship with God Jerusalem as Symbol and Reality What Does the Lord Require? The Call to Social Justice Through the threads of meaning, questions, and perspectives offered in the psalms themselves, Rabbi Polish’s guide offers an intimate look at the issues that touch and influence your personal theology.
