Book Factors Influencing Textile Dye Absorption of Dylon Blue Dye on Activated Carbon

Download or read book Factors Influencing Textile Dye Absorption of Dylon Blue Dye on Activated Carbon written by Rawan A. Alharbi and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research is dedicated to studies of activated carbons performance in the wastewater process of dye removal. The experiment was performed to assess the efficiency of the commercial activated carbons (Fl00, F600, F820, SGL 8x30, CAL, AP4-60, OLC12x30) in adsorption process for Dylon Blue Dye. The effect of type of activated carbon, dye, salinity, pH and contact time, were studied. Minitab software was used to design an experiment to collectively evaluate these factors. The experiments were performed by measuring the absorbances of the solutions before and after contact with the activated carbon. The absorbance was evaluated with UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The adsorption of the dye took place on all the studied activated carbon samples, thus the dye concentration reduced comparing to the initial solutions. Results of the study indicated that pH and salinity did not have any significant effect of the adsorption of the dye on the carbon. However, type of carbon and contact time were shown to influence adsorption significantly. Lack of effect of pH and salinity in current study contrasts finding reported in other studies --

Book Multi Factors Influencing the Absorption of Textile Dye Dylon Yellow on Activated Carbon

Download or read book Multi Factors Influencing the Absorption of Textile Dye Dylon Yellow on Activated Carbon written by Sahar Y. Rajeh and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Textile dyes are one of the wastewater contaminants. Treatment of industrial wastewater considers a challenge when choosing effective approaches. Adsorption on activated carbon is one of the superior techniques were evaluated in previous studies and considered in this thesis. In practice, the adsorption capacity of the active sits on the carbon was high. Consequently, activated carbon was used to remove textile dyes (Dylon Yellow) from wastewater under different parameters that may affect the adsorption of reactive dye. In principle, the influence of various factors such as dye type, carbon type, contacting time between carbon and dye solutions, pH, and salinity was investigated. Minitab software was used to design the experiment and evaluated to determine the significance of each factor. As a result, this work has showed that pH and salinity has no impact on the adsorption process. However, this study confirmed the previous results of influencing of dye type, carbon type and contacting time between dye solutions and carbon on the adsorption of reactive dye on activated carbon. Increasing the contacting time between carbon and dye solution allows the carbon to absorb larger amount of dye. Further, variation of carbon type or dye type plays an important role in influencing the ability of carbon to absorb dye. --

Book Factors Influencing the Absorption of Textile Dye Dylon Burlesque Red on Activated Carbon

Download or read book Factors Influencing the Absorption of Textile Dye Dylon Burlesque Red on Activated Carbon written by Mohammed S. Basaeed and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Challenges in cleaning wastewaters from textile industry arise from difficulties faced in removal of dyes found in these wastewaters. This is because the chemical stability of the dyes precludes their removal using typical treatment approaches. Need for better approaches for treatment thus exist to decontaminate such wastewaters so that their disposal in the environment does not pose health and environmental hazards. An approach that can be used to remove these dyes is by adsorbing them onto the surfaces of activated carbon. In this study, the efficiency of commercial activated carbon to adsorb Dylon Burlesque Red was assessed, and the effects of factors such as pH, type of carbon, type of dye, contact time, salinity, and hardness were evaluated. The evaluations were made by testing the absorbance of the prepared dye solutions using a Uv-Vis spectrophotometer after varying the variables that were of interest. The results of the study showed that carbon was effective in adsorbing the dyes used as was seen in the reduction in absorbance in the dye solutions where the carbon was added compared to the solutions where there was not carbon added. Evaluation of the effects of the other factors indicated that pH, salinity, and hardness of water were not significant determinants of dye absorption on water. However, contact time, type of the dye, and type of carbon were shown to affect adsorption of the dyes evaluated. These findings indicated that choice of carbon, allowing adequate contact time, and amount of carbon used could influence the effectiveness of use of carbon in treating dye-containing wastewaters --

Book Factors that Affect the Absorption of Blue 406 Pro Dye and Red 308 Pro Dye on Activated Carbon

Download or read book Factors that Affect the Absorption of Blue 406 Pro Dye and Red 308 Pro Dye on Activated Carbon written by Ahmed Alanazi and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the application of activated carbon nowadays is treating wastewaters from the textile manufacturing plants. In this application, activated carbon is used to remove dyes from wastewater , before these wastewater are disposed into environment. Overwhelming number of treatment facilities in the textile plants use either continuous flow reactors or columns packed with absorbent (e.g. activated carbon). They both serve the same purpose: to get rid of the residues of dyes in waters. However, neither of these reactors had proven themselves to be 100% effective in treating wastewaters. The reason of this is restricted residence time of wastewaters in the reactor, thus absorption equilibrium is not always achieved. This is why it is of paramount importance to study absorption rate of textile dyes on the surface of activated carbon. However, the flow rate of wastewaters through column with activated carbon is not the only factor that influences absorption equilibrium of textile dyes. Other important parameters that influence the capacity of activated carbon to textile dyes are: acidity of the solution (pH), ionic strength, type of activated carbon and, of course, the dye type. In this study, the factorial analysis software (Minitab 17) was used to efficiently evaluate the significance of each of these factors on adsorption efficiency of activated carbon. The novelty and scientific interest of this investigation was in evaluating factors collectively, under various statistical levels (33 x 22 factorial design). In this study I found that PH, type of carbon and time have an impact on adsorption significantly --

Book An Analysis of Effective Factors Impacting Absorption of Procion 072 Medium Blue Dye on Activated Carbon

Download or read book An Analysis of Effective Factors Impacting Absorption of Procion 072 Medium Blue Dye on Activated Carbon written by Ammar A. Alobaidi and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Present study deals with the adsorption of textile dye from aqueous solution on commercial activated carbon. The adsorption of Procion 072 Medium Blue dye on carbon was assessed by measuring absorbance using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The main goal of this research was to understand the nature of the interaction between adsorbed molecules of the dye by activated carbon under various conditions of pH, Salinity, time and types of Carbon. Results of this research showed good correlation with the Langmuir isotherm model. Factors that could affect the adsorption were assessed. Significant influence on adsorption was found in contact time, type of carbon and type of dyes. Salinity of water and pH on other hand showed negligible influence on adsorption of the dye. Minitab 16® Software was applied to design the experiments and to identify the significance of each factor. Furthermore, it was generated the randomized run orders for the experiments. A factorial experiments has five factors, three factors Carbon type, Dye type and pH with 3 levels, and two factors time and salinity with 2 levels, also it has 216 experimental conditions. Present research showed activated carbon is suitable natural adsorbents for removing dyes from wastewaters in textile industry.

Book Factors Influencing the Absorption of Textile Dye PRO004 Lemon Yellow Dye on Activated Carbon

Download or read book Factors Influencing the Absorption of Textile Dye PRO004 Lemon Yellow Dye on Activated Carbon written by Yasser Mahdi M. Almadani and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Removal of dyes from the effluent released from textile industry poses a challenge because of the chemical stability of these dyes that make it difficult to remove them through conventional treatment approaches. Photocatalysis, oxidation, decomposition and adsorption have thus been explored as alternative approaches. This paper evaluated one of these alternatives, adsorption, by assessing whether activated carbon can effectively remove dyes dissolved in solution. The assessment was done first using pro004 Lemon yellow dye, where the dye's adsorption on carbon was assessed by measuring absorbance of the dye solution in presence of carbon using a Uv-Vis spectrophotometer. Factors that could affect the adsorption such as pH, salinity, contact time, hardness of water, type of carbon, and type of dye were also assessed by varying these factors and measuring absorbance of dye solutions when the factors were varied. Results of the study indicated that pH, hardness of water, salinity did not have any significant effect of the adsorption of the dye on the carbon. However, type of carbon, contact time, and type of the dye were shown to influence adsorption significantly. Effect of carbon on removal of dyes was clearly noted in all experiments conducted since solutions that had carbon in them had lower absorbance compared to solutions that did not have carbon. Further, absorbance in presence of carbon was noted to decrease with time, indicating the direct association of time with adsorption. Increasing dye concentration, on the other hand, led to increased absorbance, which indicated that higher concentration of dyes lowered adsorption. From these findings, it is clear that activated carbon can be used for removal of dyes from textile effluent and that the effectiveness of removal may be dependent on the time allowed for absorption. Lack of effect of pH in current study contrasts findings reported in other studies, and thus a need for further studies to assess effects of pH exist --

Abdulaziz and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this project the absorption of textile dye on commercial activated carbon is studied. The interaction between adsorbed molecules and the carbon surface were studied at different dye concentrations. The concentrations of dyes in the solution after adsorption process were determined using UV-Vis spectroscopy and the Beer-Lambert law. The Langmuir isotherm theoretical model was used in order to obtain characteristic parameters of adsorbent and adsorbate. In addition, the effects of the different dyes between the carbon surface and water hardness. pH and salinity on the absorption process were studied. In the study of (Red pro032) dye there are some of factors effected such as carbon and salinity. The absorption is affected by the type of carbon and salinity. Water hardness and pH effected in the absorption rate. The purpose of this experimental work, to determine which of these factors are most significant with the goal of establishing a model to predict dye absorbance in wastewater. --

Book Polyurethane Elastomers

Download or read book Polyurethane Elastomers written by Cristina Prisacariu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-07-03 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive account of the physical / mechanical behaviour of polyurethanes (PU ́s) elastomers, films and blends of variable crystallinity. Aspects covered include the elasticity and inelasticity of amorphous to crystalline PUs, in relation to their sensitivity to chemical and physical structure. A study is made of how aspects of the constitutive responses of PUs vary with composition: the polyaddition procedure, the hard segment, soft segment and chain extender (diols and diamines) are varied systematically in a large number of systems of model and novel crosslinked andthermoplastic PUs. Results will be related to: microstructural changes, on the basis of evidence from x-ray scattering (SAXS and WAXS), and also dynamic mechanical analyses (DMA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and IR dichroism. Inelastic effects will be investigated also by including quantitative correlations between the magnitude of the Mullins effect and the fractional energy dissipation by hysteresis under cyclic straining, giving common relations approached by all the materials studied. A major structural feature explored is the relationship between the nature of the hard segment (crystallising or not) and that of the soft segments. Crystallinity has been sometimes observed in the commercial PUs hard phase but this is usually limited to only a few percent for most hard segment structures when solidified from the melt. One particular diisocyanate, 4,4’-dibenzyl diisocyanate (DBDI) that, in the presence of suitable chain extenders ( diols or diamines), gives rise to significant degrees of crystallinity [i-iii] and this is included in the present work. Understanding the reaction pathways involved, in resolving the subtle morphological evolution at the nanometre level, and capturing mathematically the complex, large-deformation nonlinear viscoelastic mechanical behaviour are assumed to bring new important insights in the world basic research in polyurethanes and towards applied industrial research in this area.

Book excerpt: Over the last three decades a lot of research on the role of metals in biochemistry and medicine has been done. As a result many structures of biomolecules with metals have been characterized and medicinal chemistry studied the effects of metal containing drugs. This new book (from the EIBC Book Series) covers recent advances made by top researchers in the field of metals in cells [the “metallome”] and include: regulated metal ion uptake and trafficking, sensing of metals within cells and across tissues, and identification of the vast cellular factors designed to orchestrate assembly of metal cofactor sites while minimizing toxic side reactions of metals. In addition, it features aspects of metals in disease, including the role of metals in neuro-degeneration, liver disease, and inflammation, as a way to highlight the detrimental effects of mishandling of metal trafficking and response to "foreign" metals. With the breadth of our recently acquired understanding of metals in cells, a book that features key aspects of cellular handling of inorganic elements is both timely and important. At this point in our understanding, it is worthwhile to step back and take an expansive view of how far our understanding has come, while also highlighting how much we still do not know. The content from this book will publish online, as part of EIBC in December 2013, find out more about the Encyclopedia of Inorganic and Bioinorganic Chemistry, the essential online resource for researchers and students working in all areas of inorganic and bioinorganic chemistry.
