Book Ultrasonography in Vascular Diagnosis

Download or read book Ultrasonography in Vascular Diagnosis written by Wilhelm Schäberle and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-12-07 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second edition of a well-received book that has been recommended for inclusion in any vascular library or vascular radiology suite. The first edition has been fully revised so as to provide a comprehensive, up-to-date account of vascular ultrasound that reflects recent advances. The emphasis remains on the clinical aspects most relevant to angiologists and vascular surgeons. Ultrasound anatomy is discussed, examination procedures explained, normal and pathological findings described, and the clinical impact of ultrasound assessed. Atlas sections present pertinent case material to illustrate typical ultrasound findings for both the more common vascular diseases and rarer conditions. This book will serve not only as an invaluable guide for beginners, but also as an indispensable reference for experienced sonographers, who will benefit from the detailed evaluation of the role of ultrasound as compared with other modalities and the discussion of ultrasound findings in their clinical context.

Book Bladder Control and Enuresis

Download or read book Bladder Control and Enuresis written by Issy Kolvin and published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. This book was released on 1973 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive review of enuresis, such as this, has long been overdue. In this book attention is given to bladder control, reflecting current interest in developmental aspects of paediatrics, and to enuresis, reflecting the need to relieve a common cause of unhappiness. The topics discussed include how most children become dry by age four or five, and why a minority do not; why these children go on wetting their beds, and why some start doing so after a period of dryness. The prevalence of bedwetting in younger children varies curiously in different countries. Treatment, by explanation, by drugs and by the buzzer, is well covered in practical detail. Previously published articles are reviewed. In too many it has been difficult to determine whether authors are consistently writing about day-time or night-time, life-long or acquired, wetting. Emphasis is given to papers in which soundly based research is clearly reported. Though this book was inspired by and derives from a recent International Colloquium at Newcastle, it is anything but a report of that Colloquium. To extend coverage and avoid repetition, a number of chapters have been specially written, and papers have been re-written, fused or omitted; several up-to-date, comprehensive and authoritative reviews have been included. Whether readers are community, hospital or family doctors, or psychologists, they can enjoy criticising and evaluating the at times differing views put forward, and can synthesise their own new and better conclusions. The editors have aimed to clear the way for further research by identifying clearly what is known and posing questions. Equally, however, it is hoped that this volume will promote a deeper and better understanding of bladder control and enuresis, and enable doctors who use it for reference to give more effective help to children with wetting problems.

Book excerpt: Here's comprehensive, in-depth coverage of the rapidly expanding field of non-invasive vascular diagnosis. Noted experts in vascular surgery, interventional radiology, cardiology, and vascular medicine explore the best approaches for vascular imaging of cerebrovascular disease, peripheral atherosclerotic occlusive disease, intra-abdominal occlusive disease, venous disorders, and aneurysms. The book is organized into three parts. The first part covers some fundamental issues related to the vascular laboratory and principles of vascular diagnosis. The second part has five sections concerned with imaging the various regions of the body. The third part contains a collection of miscellaneous topics such as coding and reimbursement and database maintenance.

Book Fragility Fractures of the Pelvis

Download or read book Fragility Fractures of the Pelvis written by Pol Maria Rommens and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thanks to an increasing life expectancy of our populations the number of elderly persons is steadily growing and will continue to do so. Among these, the rate of persons with illnesses and degenerative diseases is significant. The prevalence of osteoporosis is especially high in elderly women and leads to typical fracture patterns. Hip fractures, proximal humerus fractures, distal radius fractures and fractures of the vertebral column are the most common. In the last decade, we are confronted with a sharp increase of fragility fractures of the pelvis. Until now, there is no consensus on how to identify and classify these lesions and there are no guidelines for treatment and after treatment. In particular, there is no common view on which patients need an operative treatment and which technique of osteosynthesis should be used. This book fills the gap in available literature and gives a state of the art guide to the treatment of fragility fractures of the pelvis. With the sharp increase of these fractures and the lacking consensus, Fragility Fractures of the Pelvis will become indispensable for the physicians who take care of elderly patients with this pathology. Written by a team of expert opinion leaders, the aim of this book is to contribute to the scientific discussion in this area and to help provide the optimal care for these patients.

Book The Identification and Treatment of Gait Problems in Cerebral Palsy

Download or read book The Identification and Treatment of Gait Problems in Cerebral Palsy written by James R. Gage and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-09-21 with total page 665 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The only book to deal specifically with the treatment of gait problems in cerebral palsy, this comprehensive, multi-disciplinary volume will be invaluable for all those working in the field of cerebral palsy and gait (neurologists, therapists, physiatrists, orthopaedic and neurosurgeons, and bioengineers). The book is divided into two parts. The first is designed to help the reader evaluate and understand a child with cerebral palsy. It deals with neurological control, musculoskeletal growth, and normal gait, as well as cerebral injury, growth deformities and gait pathology in children with cerebral palsy. The second section is a comprehensive overview of management. It emphasizes the most fundamental concept of treatment: manage the child's neurologic dysfunction first and then address the skeletal and muscular consequences of that dysfunction. The book has been thoroughly updated since the previous edition, with a greater focus on treatment and several entirely new topics covered, including chapters on the operative treatment of orthopaedic deformities.
