Book Explorer s Guide to Genesis

Download or read book Explorer s Guide to Genesis written by Bryce Neuberger and published by NeuBooks. This book was released on 2023-01-26 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book that allows players to adventure in the pre-flood mythological world of Pangea compatible with Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition ruleset. INTRODUCTION: The World is ending… The gods are angry… The people want blood. Welcome to the Genesis Campaign Setting, a prehistoric world of violence and blood. A group of powerful beings called The Watchers were supposed to guide the world but instead fell in love with all it had to offer. Their offspring, the gods, war with these Titans and have set themselves up in various regions as separate pantheons of deities over the mortals. Dragons and Dinosaurs roam Pangea devouring the mixed blooded races all the while there is a prophecy of the world coming to an end, drowned in death. The world is young, only a few centuries past its first millennium. Magic is wild, powerful, and supernatural. The citizens of the world are violent, hardy, and bestial. The powers of good and evil are at a constant war. Paradise and Sheol are physical places in this world, as are Elysium, and Valhalla. From the six fingered frost giant Thor and his mighty hammer Mjollnir, to the half-blooded Nephilim Hercules and the fire breathing Leviathan Lotan, many legends have found their place in Pangea. A side note of historical and religious accuracy: Have you ever wondered if the myths of the ancients were based in fact? Have you ever wondered what the prehistoric pre-flood biblical world would look like in light of works such as the Book of Enoch and the Epic of Gilgamesh? As a religious studies major, I do not believe that this setting will be 100% accurate to what the biblical creation theory suggests, but all works herein are created with a sense of “What if?”. What if Thor and Zeus and these deities were actually the “Men of Great Renown” mentioned in Genesis Chapter 6. What if the Titans that battled and birthed the gods are these Nephilim mentioned in scripture and referred to as Titans by the Greeks. Creative license is obviously taken to create a fun campaign setting, but I hope this inspires all who play with a sense of wonder. What if this setting isn’t as fantastical as we think?

Book A Curious Student s Guide to the Book of Genesis

Download or read book A Curious Student s Guide to the Book of Genesis written by Reuven Travis and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-06-22 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Genesis contains a rich, nuanced text, and yet, when taught to children, it is often done through a series of “factoids,” such as the number of animals brought into the ark or Esau’s red lentil soup. Worst still, children are frequently discouraged from asking questions about its complex storylines. This book was written to redress both pedagogical shortcomings. It does so by reminding children that the Bible teaches us to be truly good people via amazing stories of brave men and women doing incredible things. However, the most valuable lessons we learn from the Bible seem to come from people’s daily lives: how they speak to their spouses, how they treat their children, how they interact with their neighbors. Perhaps most importantly, the Bible teaches us to ask questions. At times, the answers to our questions come easily. At other times, the answers we seek are hidden away, and so we are left to think and wonder. Nonetheless, ask we must, because by asking questions, we can deepen our connection to the ones we address the questions to, be it parents, teachers, or even God himself.

Book Nonbinary

Book excerpt: A revealing and beautifully open memoir from pioneering industrial music artist, visual artist, and transgender icon Genesis P-Orridge—now in paperback In this groundbreaking book spanning decades of artistic risk-taking, the inventor of “industrial music,” founder of Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV, and world-renowned fine artist with COUM Transmissions, Genesis P-Orridge (1950–2020) takes us on a journey searching for identity and their true self. It is the story of a life of creation and destruction, where Genesis P-Orridge reveals their unwillingness to be stuck—stuck in one place, in one genre, or in one gender. Nonbinary is Genesis’s final work and is shared with hopes of being an inspiration to the newest generation of trailblazers and nonconformists. Nonbinary is the intimate story of Genesis’s life, weaving the narrative of their history in COUM Transmissions, Throbbing Gristle, and Psychic TV. It also covers growing up in World War II’s fallout in Britain, contributing to the explosion of new music and radical art in the 1960s, and destroying visual and artistic norms throughout their entire life. In addition to being a captivating memoir of a singular artist and musician, Nonbinary is also an inside look at one of our most remarkable cultural lives that will be an inspiration to fans of industrial music, performance art, the occult, and a life in the arts.
