Download or read book Experiments in Wave Record Analysis written by Jose Luis Goncalves Cardoso and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By examining the relationship of the individual waves in an ocean wave record and the power density spectrum (PDS), it is demonstrated that the PDS conventionally obtained using spectral analysis can be reasonably approximated, except at the very low frequency end, by a pseudo-power density spectrum constructed from the individual heights and periods contained in the record. The very low frequencies seen in the side bands of the PDS are examined as products of amplitude modulation by analogy with simulated wave records and as an indication of the presence of wave groups. In addition, wave groups are identified and their properties determined in 19 selected ocean wave records by integrating the wave record using the procedure of Funke and Mansard (1979). (Author).

Download or read book Water Waves Generated by Underwater Explosion written by Bernard Le Mehaute and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book on explosion-generated water waves. It presents the theoretical foundations and experimental results of the generation and propagation of impulsively generated waves resulting from underwater explosions. Many of the theories and concepts presented herein are applicable to other types of water waves, in particular, tsunamis and waves generated by the fall of a meteorite. Linear and nonlinear theories, as well as experimental calibrations, are presented for cases of deep and shallow water explosions. Propagation of transient waves on dissipative, nonuniform bathymetries together with laboratory simulations are analyzed and discussed.

This book was released on 2003-03-14 with total page 4007 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains more than 300 papers presented at the 28th International Conference on Coastal Engineering, held in Cardiff, Wales, in July 2002. It is divided into five parts: coastal waves; nearshore currents, swash, and long waves; coastal structures; sediment transport; and coastal morphology, beach nourishment, and coastal management. The papers cover a broad range of topics, including theory, numerical and physical modeling, field measurements, case studies, design, and management. Coastal Engineering 2002 provides engineers, scientists, and planners with state-of-the-art information on coastal engineering and coastal processes.

Download or read book Collection and Analysis of Seismic Wave Propagation Data written by David E. Willis and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report summarizes one year of theoretical and applied research on propagation of seismic waves and techniques for analyzing data. The main objectives were to determine the frequency and energy of seismic signatures, and investigate attenuation, patterns of azimuthal radiation from source regions, and methods of determining the type of motion at the source. Natural and artificial sources were studied to develop diagnostic aids for distinguishing between earthquakes and underground nuclear detonations. Equipment for selection, reformatting, and digital-to-analog conversion for digitally recorded LASA data was constructed and is being checked out. Several approaches for using the parallel computational capabilities of optics for LASA data were developed. A study of background noise and reciprocity for teleseismic events as recorded on the bottom of a large fresh water lake has commenced with the emplacement of three-component seismometers in Lake Superior. Array data have been used for crustal studies on the Eastern United States. Digital mode filtering was investigated. A perturbation theory for seismic sources was developed. (Author).
