Download or read book Experimental Design in Petroleum Reservoir Studies written by Mohammad Jamshidnezhad and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2015-04-16 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the main duties for reservoir engineers is reservoir study, which starts when a reservoir is explored and it continues until the reservoir abandonment. Reservoir study is a continual process and due to various reasons such as complexity at the surface and limited data, there are many uncertainties in reservoir modelling and characterization causing difficulties in reasonable history-matching and prediction phases of study. Experimental Design in Petroleum Reservoir Studies concentrates on experimental design, a trusted method in reservoir management, to analyze and take the guesswork out of the uncertainties surrounding the underdeveloped reservoir. Case studies from the Barnett shale and fractured reservoirs in the Middle East are just some of the practical examples included. Other relevant discussions on uncertainty in PVT, field performance data, and relevant outcomes of experimental design all help you gain insight into how better data can improve measurement tools, your model, and your reservoir assets. - Apply the practical knowledge and know-how now with real-world case studies included - Gain confidence in deviating uncertain parameters surrounding the underdeveloped reservoir with a focus on application of experimental design - Alleviate some of the guesswork in history-matching and prediction phrases with explanations on uncertainty analysis

It includes many worked examples to demonstrate the methodologies and a selection of exercises.

Book Application of Multitracer Technology to Petroleum Reservoir Studies Quarterly Progress Report October 1 December 31 1992

Download or read book Application of Multitracer Technology to Petroleum Reservoir Studies Quarterly Progress Report October 1 December 31 1992 written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 3 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objectives of this research program are to: (1) Improve the assessment of the character of petroleum reservoirs using tracer technology for the monitoring and improvement of EOR techniques, specifically, (a) to apply the presently available multitracer perfluorocarbon tracer (PFT) technology to the study of petroleum reservoirs in characterizing reservoir bulk subsurface flow transport and dispersion rates; and, (b) to demonstrate that PFTs with differing physical properties will interact with differing rates of adsorption and dispersion within such reservoirs, from which may be inferred difference in the character and/or extent of petroleum in those reservoirs. This is accomplished by participation in field experiments so as to fully demonstrate the perfluorocarbon tracer technology in its utility in this aspect. 2. Develop new tracers, compatible with the perfluorocarbon tracer technology, so as to interface these new tracers in a suite of tracers available for petroleum reservoir experiments. 3. Design and performance of a quantitative PFF experiment to demonstrate the potential of calculating a two-dimensional residual oil saturation map based on a multi-PFT tracer experiment in a reservoir. Technical progress is discussed for: (1) Ongoing demonstration experiments at the Naval Petroleum Reservoir in California; (2) development of new tracers; and (3) design of the 2D residual oil mapping experiment.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 4th Workshop on Case Studies in Bayesian Statistics was held at the Car negie Mellon University campus on September 27-28, 1997. As in the past, the workshop featured both invited and contributed case studies. The former were presented and discussed in detail while the latter were presented in poster format. While most of the case studies in the volume come from biomedical research the reader will also find studies in environmental science and marketing research. INVITED PAPERS In Modeling Customer Survey Data, Linda A. Clark, William S. Cleveland, Lorraine Denby, and Chuanhai LiD use hierarchical modeling with time series components in for customer value analysis (CVA) data from Lucent Technologies. The data were derived from surveys of customers of the company and its competi tors, designed to assess relative performance on a spectrum of issues including product and service quality and pricing. The model provides a full description of the CVA data, with random location and scale effects for survey respondents and longitudinal company effects for each attribute. In addition to assessing the performance of specific companies, the model allows the empirical exploration of the conceptual basis of consumer value analysis. The authors place special em phasis on graphical displays for this complex, multivariate set of data and include a wealth of such plots in the paper.

Book Advanced Petroleum Reservoir Simulation

Download or read book Advanced Petroleum Reservoir Simulation written by M. R. Islam and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-10-26 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Petroleum Reservoir Simulation Add precision and ease to the process of reservoir simulation. Until simulation software and other methods of reservoir characterization were developed, engineers had to drill numerous wells to find the best way to extract crude oil and natural gas. Today, even with highly sophisticated reservoir simulations software available, reservoir simulation still involves a great deal of guesswork. Advanced Petroleum Reservoir Simulation provides an advanced approach to petroleum reservoir simulation, taking the guesswork out of the process and relying more thoroughly on science and what is known about the individual reservoir. This state of the art publication in petroleum simulation: Describes solution techniques that allow multiple solutions to the complete equations, without linearization. Solves the most difficult reservoir engineering problems such as viscous fingering. Highlights the importance of non-linear solvers on decision tree with scientific argument. Discusses solution schemes in relation to other disciplines and revolutionizes risk analysis and decision making. Includes companion software with 3-D, 3-phase multipurpose simulator code available for download from www.scrivenerpublishing.com. By providing a valuable tool to support reservoir simulation predictions with real science, this book is an essential reference for engineers, scientists and geologists.
