Book Existence de solution d une quation elliptique avec exposant de Sobolev critique

Download or read book Existence de solution d une quation elliptique avec exposant de Sobolev critique written by Myriam Comte and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Superlinear Parabolic Problems

Download or read book Superlinear Parabolic Problems written by Prof. Dr. Pavol Quittner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-06-13 with total page 719 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the qualitative study of solutions of superlinear elliptic and parabolic partial differential equations and systems. This class of problems contains, in particular, a number of reaction-diffusion systems which arise in various mathematical models, especially in chemistry, physics and biology. The first two chapters introduce to the field and enable the reader to get acquainted with the main ideas by studying simple model problems, respectively of elliptic and parabolic type. The subsequent three chapters are devoted to problems with more complex structure; namely, elliptic and parabolic systems, equations with gradient depending nonlinearities, and nonlocal equations. They include many developments which reflect several aspects of current research. Although the techniques introduced in the first two chapters provide efficient tools to attack some aspects of these problems, they often display new phenomena and specifically different behaviors, whose study requires new ideas. Many open problems are mentioned and commented. The book is self-contained and up-to-date, it has a high didactic quality. It is devoted to problems that are intensively studied but have not been treated so far in depth in the book literature. The intended audience includes graduate and postgraduate students and researchers working in the field of partial differential equations and applied mathematics. The first edition of this book has become one of the standard references in the field. This second edition provides a revised text and contains a number of updates reflecting significant recent advances that have appeared in this growing field since the first edition.

Download or read book A PROPOS D UNE EQUATION ELLIPTIQUE NON LINEAIRE AVEC UN EXPOSANT CRITIQUE written by Roger Lewandowski and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CETTE THESE A POUR OBJET L'ETUDE D'UNE EQUATION ELLIPTIQUE NON LINEAIRE, SUR UN DOMAINE BORNE, DONT LA NON-LINEARITE A UNE CROISSANCE CRITIQUE, ENTRAINANT UN DEFAUT DE COMPACITE. DANS LA PREMIERE PARTIE, ON MONTRE QUE LORSQUE LE DOMAINE EST PERFORE, LES SOLUTIONS SE CONCENTRENT SUR LE CENTRE DU TROU LORSQUE SON RAYON DEVIENT TRES PETIT. ON ETABLIT ENSUITE UN RESULTAT DE NON EXISTENCE DE SOLUTIONS POUR UN DOMAINE NON ETOILE POSSEDANT UNE TOPOLOGIE TRIVIALE. DANS UNE DEUXIEME PARTIE, ON TIENT COMPTE D'UNE PERTURBATION LINEAIRE ET ON ETUDIE SYSTEMATIQUEMENT LES SOLUTIONS OBTENUES PAR MINIMISATION D'UNE FONCTIONNELLE ET MAXIMISATION D'UNE AUTRE. ON MONTRE QU'IL Y A UNICITE DES EXTREMA DANS LE CAS RADIAL; ON ETABLIT LA CORRESPONDANCE ENTRE LES MINIMA DE L'UNE ET LES MAXIMA DE L'AUTRE. FINALEMENT, ON ETUDIE LES MINIMA DEGENERES: EN IMPOSANT UNE CONDITION DE TRANSVERSALITE, ON DONNE LA DESCRIPTION COMPLETE D'UNE EVENTUELLE BIFURCATION, PHENOMENE POUVANT APPARAITRE LORSQUE LE DOMAINE EST UN ANNEAU

Book Flow Lines and Algebraic Invariants in Contact Form Geometry

Download or read book Flow Lines and Algebraic Invariants in Contact Form Geometry written by Abbas Bahri and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text features a careful treatment of flow lines and algebraic invariants in contact form geometry, a vast area of research connected to symplectic field theory, pseudo-holomorphic curves, and Gromov-Witten invariants (contact homology). In particular, it develops a novel algebraic tool in this field: rooted in the concept of critical points at infinity, the new algebraic invariants defined here are useful in the investigation of contact structures and Reeb vector fields. The book opens with a review of prior results and then proceeds through an examination of variational problems, non-Fredholm behavior, true and false critical points at infinity, and topological implications. An increasing convergence with regular and singular Yamabe-type problems is discussed, and the intersection between contact form and Riemannian geometry is emphasized. Rich in open problems and full, detailed proofs, this work lays the foundation for new avenues of study in contact form geometry and will benefit graduate students and researchers.

Book Ginzburg Landau Vortices

Download or read book Ginzburg Landau Vortices written by Fabrice Bethuel and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2017-09-21 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is concerned with the study in two dimensions of stationary solutions of uɛ of a complex valued Ginzburg-Landau equation involving a small parameter ɛ. Such problems are related to questions occurring in physics, e.g., phase transition phenomena in superconductors and superfluids. The parameter ɛ has a dimension of a length which is usually small. Thus, it is of great interest to study the asymptotics as ɛ tends to zero. One of the main results asserts that the limit u-star of minimizers uɛ exists. Moreover, u-star is smooth except at a finite number of points called defects or vortices in physics. The number of these defects is exactly the Brouwer degree – or winding number – of the boundary condition. Each singularity has degree one – or as physicists would say, vortices are quantized. The material presented in this book covers mostly original results by the authors. It assumes a moderate knowledge of nonlinear functional analysis, partial differential equations, and complex functions. This book is designed for researchers and graduate students alike, and can be used as a one-semester text. The present softcover reprint is designed to make this classic text available to a wider audience.
