Download or read book Everything Old Is New Again written by Therese Anne Edwards and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-09-29 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I come from a family of cooks and chef’s so it seems natural to me to be fascinated by the art of cooking and to share that interest with those who also have a love of cooking, particularly those who still cook the old recipes handed down from their parents, aunts and uncles and also grandparents. I personally, as a sole trader or as a partner have owned a number of businesses over the years, most of which were in the food industry, so it is a natural progression to write a book of recipes. Since I have recently found myself to be gluten intolerant, I have found it most rewarding to have been able to convert the greater majority of our recipes into gluten free meals.
Download or read book Everything Old is New Again written by Miriam Plavin-Masterman and published by Business Expert Press. This book was released on 2018-04-16 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent scholarship on institutional entrepreneurship highlights the kinship between for-profit entrepreneurship and the equally transformative innovation and initiative of entrepreneurs in the non-profit, community, and policy-activist fields. This expanded exploration of entrepreneurial potential has become important in the creative destruction—or, more accurately, “creative reclamation”—of abandoned or under-used industrial relics and urban space. This book explores case studies in New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia, where community groups have deployed or are attempting to deploy symbolism and narrative to re-purpose abandoned urban infrastructure into urban public spaces. The author combines interviews, document analysis, site visits, and census tract data to determine how Friends of the Park organizations successfully navigate institutional settings to create public spaces and manage the discourse around these proposed spaces. In-depth descriptions are an essential component of the process. If a certain kind of unsuccessful discourse theme (or successful one) exhibits itself in a large portion of the potential population, it will likely show in this small sample; if the discourse exhibits itself in a very small portion, it very unlikely that it will show. Small samples, in other words, are a wide-mesh net, convenient for catching the big themes.

Download or read book Professional Development That Sticks written by Fred Ende and published by ASCD. This book was released on 2016-02-22 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can we approach professional development in a thoughtful way, keep teachers motivated, and make the process worthwhile? It's a truth that school leaders can't deny: teachers tend to think of PD as a distraction from the "real work" of the classroom—as something to get through instead of an opportunity to engage, learn, and grow as professionals. Too often, they're absolutely right. When PD is packaged as a one-size-fits-all, one-and-done experience, even content that teachers might greet with enthusiasm won't stay with them for long. It just doesn't stick. In Professional Development That Sticks, Fred Ende makes the case for a better approach—one that melds traditional PD structures with personalized learning. Here, school leaders will find a framework for developing professional learning experiences that spark and maintain teacher motivation and lead to real changes in practice. Ende's three-stage professional development for learning (PDL) process covers critical aspects of planning, providing, and following up. In addition, PDL's Think, Act, and Reflect method ensures your teachers will acquire meaningful, deep, "sticky" learning that lasts.

Download or read book Henry Ford written by Vincent Curcio and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2013-04-12 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most great figures in American history reveal great contradictions, and Henry Ford is no exception. He championed his workers, offering unprecedented wages, yet crushed their attempts to organize. Virulently anti-Semitic, he never employed fewer than 3,000 Jews. An outspoken pacifist, he made millions producing war materials. He urbanized the modern world, and then tried to drag it back into a romanticized rural past he'd helped to destroy. As the American auto industry struggles to reinvent itself, Vincent Curcio's timely biography offers a wealth of new insight into the man who started it all. Henry Ford not only founded Ford Motor Company but institutionalized assembly line production and, some would argue, created the American middle class. By constantly improving his product and increasing sales, Ford was able to lower the price of the automobile until it became a universal commodity. He paid his workers so well that, for the first time in history, the people who manufactured a complex industrial product could own one. This was "Fordism"--social engineering on a vast scale. But, as Curcio displays, Ford's anti-Semitism would forever stain his reputation. Hitler admired him greatly, both for his anti-Semitism and his autocratic leadership, displaying Ford's picture in his bedroom and keeping a copy of Ford's My Life and Work by his bedside. Nevertheless, Ford's economic and social initiatives, as well as his deft handling of his public image, kept his popularity high among Americans. He offered good pay, good benefits, English language classes, and employment for those who struggled to find jobs--handicapped, African-American, and female workers. Such was his popularity that in 1923, the homespun, clean-living, xenophobic Henry Ford nearly won the Republican presidential nomination. This new volume in the Lives and Legacies series explores the full impact of Ford's indisputable greatness, the deep flaws that complicate his legacy, and what he means for our own time.
