AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is my first hero-only POV book (so much fun!). Wake was just too deliciously growly and protective, I just had to get in his head for every chapter. Enjoy! Book More Than a Fling A steamy feel good holiday romcom

Download or read book More Than a Fling A steamy feel good holiday romcom written by Christa Wick and published by Christa Wick. This book was released on 2020-06-10 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Laney: It all started with a blind date. For him, at least. Me? I didn't even know I was on a date with the guy. Because I wasn't. Long story. Right place, right time, unsuspecting new PR client and meddlesome matchmaking friends. Talk about an awkward first impression--with me being the awkward one. I regrouped though, gotta give me that. And now all I have to do this holiday season is not fall for the gruff, gritty, secret do-gooder with a surprisingly sweet side (buried a mile or so under a grinchy, ridiculously hot exterior). Yep, easy peasey... Gary: Hell, of course the smart, sweet woman I thought was my blind date would turn out to be my new PR guru from New York. Just my luck. No big deal though. Spending the winter working with an impossibly cute woman on a project I've put my blood and sweat into doesn't sound half bad. Yeah, I'm aware my friends think a sparks-flying romance is unfolding here, but come on now. We don't even live in the same state. And let's be real, the universe would have to be seriously drunk to pick my grumpy ass to be the hero of some holiday romcom... Author’s Note: This brand new sweet & steamy standalone short is actually a crossover novella with cameos (aka meddling) by a few characters you may recognize from the Irresistible Curves series (Claiming Her Curves and Capturing Her Curves) and the Untouchable Curves series (Curvy Seduction), not to mention a quick run-in with the fabulous matriarch of the His to Claim series herself. So many worlds colliding, so much fun making it happen. You don’t have to have read any of the other books to read this standalone, but if you have read them, I hope you enjoy getting to catch up with them all as they meddle the heck out of Laney & Gary’s hot happily-ever-after. ***Previously titled Hot Nights Winter Lights - same cute story, just with a fresh title/cover makeover***

Book Unveiled A Brother s Best Friend Soldier Hero Curvy Heroine Romance

Download or read book Unveiled A Brother s Best Friend Soldier Hero Curvy Heroine Romance written by Christa Wick and published by Christa Wick. This book was released on 2020-07-10 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I've got a giant secret no one knows about. Well, two secrets, if you count my spending the last decade stuck hopelessly in love with my brother's best friend, a man who’s spent most of his life seeing what comes of a not-happily-ever-after ending between two people. Interestingly, the fact that my heart is stubbornly holding onto this ill-advised crush is actually related to my other secret. It’s sort of an occupational hazard, really, when you’re the pseudonymous author behind a popular series of wildly romantic books that are all fantastically dirty. Seriously, if this gets out, it won’t be a huge leap to figure out why my ridiculously rugged heroes are all government-issued. Or why the hottest one by far bears a striking resemblance to a certain disciplined-to-the-max, protective-to-the-extreme Marine who treats me like a kid sister. So, here we are, my two secrets and I sharing the same roof as Lucas Weaver for a stint, with me seemingly unable to stop ruffling and riling him up at every turn. What can I say? Clearly, I'm not the same girl I was when I first started falling for him. But then again, he's not exactly the same guy either. Because those fictional heroes I've been basing on Lucas? They've got nothing on him now that he knows...everything. NOTE: It was such a blast collaborating with my great friend Tessa Wood (who’s just masterful with the sweet & steamy) on this **ALL NEW** book for Lucas & Theresa. Hope you have as much fun reading this co-written story as we had writing it (it's a first for us both, but definitely not the last)! The UNTIL YOU Series Book 1: Unraveled (Corwin & Belle) Book 2: Unveiled (Lucas & Theresa) Book 3: Untapped (Teague & Charlie) Keywords: curvy girl romance, curvy woman romance, BBW, military hero, soldier hero, Marine hero, Navy SEAL hero, alpha hero, strong heroine, smart heroine, feisty heroine, plus size heroine, steamy novella, protective hero, possessive hero, new adult romance, sexy contemporary romance, steamy romance, hot romance novel, sweet hero, friends to lovers romance, best friend’s brother, brother’s best friend, second chance romance, steamy small town romance, sweet heroine, sexy beach read, happily ever after

Book Shakespeare s Lives

Download or read book Shakespeare s Lives written by Samuel Schoenbaum and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1991 with total page 658 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a study of the changing images and differing ways that the life of English poet and playwright William Shakespeare (1564-1616) has been interpreted throughout history. The author takes readers on a tour of the countless myths and legends which have arisen to explain the great dramatist's life and work, bringing the story right up to 1989. He reconstructs as much of the elusive author's life as possible, considering his family history, his economic standing, and his reputation with his peers; the Shakespeare who emerges may not always be the familiar one.

Part I documents and critically assesses the most important theories on the authorship question. Part II is an annotated bibliography, arranged chronologically, of the many works that deal with the controversy from its vague beginnings to the present.

Book The Shakespearean Myth

Download or read book The Shakespearean Myth written by Appleton Morgan and published by Cincinnati, Robert Clarke & Co. This book was released on 2015-01-09 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Example in this ebook Mguizot, in his History of England, states the Shakespearean problem in a few words, when he says: "Let us finally mention the great comedian, the great tragedian, the great philosopher, the great poet, who was in his lifetime butcher's apprentice, poacher, actor, theatrical manager, and whose name is William Shakespeare. In twenty years, amid the duties of his profession, the care of mounting his pieces, of instructing his actors, he composed the thirty-two tragedies and comedies, in verse and prose, rich with an incomparable knowledge of human nature, and an unequaled power of imagination, terrible and comic by turns, profound and delicate, homely and touching, responding to every emotion of the soul, divining all that was beyond the range of his experience and for ever remaining the treasure of the age—all this being accomplished, Shakespeare left the theater and the busy world, at the age of forty-five, to return to Stratford-on-Avon, where lived peacefully in the most modest retirement, writing nothing and never returning to the stage—ignored and unknown if his works had not forever marked out his place in the world—a strange example of an imagination so powerful, suddenly ceasing to produce, and closing, once for all, the door to the efforts of genius." But M. Guizot is very far from suggesting any prima facie inconsistency in this statement as it stands. Since every man reads the Shakespearean pages for himself and between the lines, much of what we are expected to accept as Shakespearean criticism must fail of universal appreciation and sympathy. But none who read the English tongue can well be unconcerned with the question as to who wrote those pages; and it would be affectation to deny that the intense realism of our day is offering some startling contributions to the solution of that question. For instance, the gentlemen of the "New Shakespeare Society" (whom Mr. Swinburne rather mercilessly burlesques in his recent "Studies of Shakespeare") submit these dramas to a quantitative analysis; and, by deliberately counting the "male," "female," "weak," and "stopped" endings, and the Alexandrines and catalectics (just as a mineralogist counts the degrees and minutes in the angles of his crystals), insist on their ability to pronounce didatically and infallibly what was written by William Shakespeare, and at what age; what was composed by Dekker, Fletcher, Marlowe, or anybody else; what was originally theirs, touched up by William Shakespeare or vice versa, etc. It is curious to observe how this process invariably gives all the admirable sentiments to William Shakespeare, and all the questionable ones to somebody else; but at least these New Shakespearean gentlemen have surrendered somewhat of the "cast-iron" theory of our childhood—that every page, line, and word of the immortal Shakespearean Drama was written by William Shakespeare demi-god, and by none other—perhaps, even opened a path through which the unbelievers may become, in due time, orthodox. There are still, however, a great many persons who are disposed to wave the whole question behind them, much as Mr. Podsnap disposed of the social evil or a famine in India. It is only a "Historic Doubt," they say, and "Historic Doubts" are not rare, are mainly contrived to exhibit syllogistic ingenuity in the teeth of facts, etc., etc. The French, they say, have the same set of problems about Molière. Was he a lawyer? was he a doctor? etc.—and they all find their material in internal evidence—e. g., an accurate handling of the technique of this or that profession or science: parallelism, practical coincidence, or something of that sort. Book Emerson

Download or read book Emerson written by Robert D. Richardson Jr. and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2015-04-22 with total page 705 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recipient of the Francis Parkman Prize from the Society of American Historians Ralph Waldo Emerson is one of the most important figures in the history of American thought, religion, and literature. The vitality of his writings and the unsettling power of his example continue to influence us more than a hundred years after his death. Now Robert D. Richardson Jr. brings to life an Emerson very different from the old stereotype of the passionless Sage of Concord. Drawing on a vast amount of new material, including correspondence among the Emerson brothers, Richardson gives us a rewarding intellectual biography that is also a portrait of the whole man. These pages present a young suitor, a grief-stricken widower, an affectionate father, and a man with an abiding genius for friendship. The great spokesman for individualism and self-reliance turns out to have been a good neighbor, an activist citizen, a loyal brother. Here is an Emerson who knew how to laugh, who was self-doubting as well as self-reliant, and who became the greatest intellectual adventurer of his age. Richardson has, as much as possible, let Emerson speak for himself through his published works, his many journals and notebooks, his letters, his reported conversations. This is not merely a study of Emerson's writing and his influence on others; it is Emerson's life as he experienced it. We see the failed minister, the struggling writer, the political reformer, the poetic liberator. The Emerson of this book not only influenced Thoreau, Fuller, Whitman, Dickinson, and Frost, he also inspired Nietzsche, William James, Baudelaire, Marcel Proust, Virginia Woolf, and Jorge Luis Borges. Emerson's timeliness is persistent and striking: his insistence that literature and science are not separate cultures, his emphasis on the worth of every individual, his respect for nature. Richardson gives careful attention to the enormous range of Emerson's readings—from Persian poets to George Sand—and to his many friendships and personal encounters—from Mary Moody Emerson to the Cherokee chiefs in Boston—evoking both the man and the times in which he lived. Throughout this book, Emerson's unquenchable vitality reaches across the decades, and his hold on us endures.
